Interesting concept, Cute graphics

This is an interesting game. Kind of a strange concept, but it is a remake of a much earlier game, this time with updated graphics, sound and controls. The Wii controls seem awkward at first, but don't take too long to get the hang of. There were a couple spots early in the game that were confusing/misleading the first time through. Once I got the hang of the controls and gameplay, I started over at the beginning to try getting all three treasure chests in each level. As you play through the levels, you unlock other special levels. Further into the game, you get more types of jelly beans to transform the Blob in different ways. Along with the new jelly beans come new obstacles and puzzles to keep the game interesting. Just for fun, you can scold the Blob or give him a big hug. It is very cute, but the environments can be a bit creepy for little kids.

this is a rare thing: a 3rd party wii game that's actually pretty good, and yet this game didn't sell well. this game has a different style of puzzles, involving feeding your blob jelly beans to get it to change forms, and decent platforming. this is a good wii game. you should try it

A Boy and his blob brought back alot of great memories of original nintendo and the original Boy and his blob game. While i did enjoy the original a bit more this remake is still very good and worth the cheap price tag especially if you like side scrolling action games.

This puzzle game includes great, but short, puzzle packed levels. Even the bosses are fun puzzles!

Beautiful/Fun Game

This game has some of the best graphics I have ever seen. I adore this game and the characters. The blob, his friend, can transform and help the boy throughout the game. It can be a bit challenging so I wouldn't recommend it for young children but 8 and up would really enjoy this game if they're into video games. This is a beautiful remake of the original and I highly recommend trying it out. :]

Great game for children!

The Good: I never played the original game. I call tell you it reminds me of some very cool Japanese Animation like Totorro where its all hand painted water colors. The graphics are just like the screen shots. The graphics are simple but with that artist hand drawn effect in mind. The storyline seems very well thought out and my son being 6 years old just loves it. It has about 30 levels plus bonus content. My son likes to call the blob, hug the blob and of course feed the blob beans to change him into magical shapes. The blob does get distracted watching fireflies, frog and such. So, sometime you have to tell the blob to calm down. It cracks me up. My daughter is 4 and she loves coaching my son on what to do with the blob and seems just as fascinated with the blob as my son. Its really should win some awards. As a player you have unlimited lives... which is great with younger kids in mind. It really has an easy to use interface with using the tree-house as home-base and using pause at anytime to jump back to home-base is nice and simple. The Bad: Really not much to say. I see this as a niche game that interest younger children mostly, with a few animation or classic game lovers thrown in. Not sure on how much replay value there would be yet. My son hasn't gotten that far yet... Conclusion: This is a great game for children that does help with basic problem solving and intro them into games. Its targeted for a younger audience and exceeds my expectations on how well the game is designed for kids to use. My son really like being able to change the blob character into objects to help him solve the problems and sometimes they arent what you think they would be... experimenting is key. A new Classic for sure.

Classic Game brought to Modern Day.
A Boy and His Wii

Since I read this game was going to be developed, I've been anxiously awaiting its arrival. At 22, I remember when my parents taught me and played the original A Boy and His Blob on NES. Finally I have the opportunity to return the favor on Wii. The game isn't as challenging as I'd hoped. I was finished with a quarter of the game in an hour and a half. I think the graphics are awesome! The levels are all hand drawn, and remind me of The Iron Giant or A Troll in Central Park. The Length is good. 40 levels of original game play, and an additional 40 bonus levels. Who doesn't want to help save Bloblonia? The Storyline is interesting, though I've read almost every gaming website and I would hope they'd come out with a Saturday Morning cartoon. The Controls are easy enough. You use the nunchuck to move, C to call the Blob, Z to bring up the jelly bean screen and A and B are jump and bean toss, respectively. The Interface is fine, I haven't come across any problems. I also enjoy the Sound. The music is starting to get a little repetitive, but you're given a handful of calls to get the blob back. All in all, I'd give the game a 8.5 out of 10. It's a fun game, and will provide hours of play time. Like I said, I'm coming from a family who enjoyed the original for NES, but I think this is a great way to revive the title. I hope all who buy the game enjoy it.
