Product Description

In Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise, players will inherit a neglected garden on Pinata Island and turn it into a pinata paradise by tending to all aspects of cleaning the garden, growing and maintaining vegetation, caring for and breeding pinatas, as well as attracting new pinata species. The game features seven all-new pinata species, each with new requirements, houses and unique cut scenes. Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise also includes twelve full motion video clips that serve as tutorial levels within the game. The videos feature the stars of the Fox 4Kids Viva Pinata TV series, including Hudson Horstashio, Fergy Fudgehog and Paulie Pretztail. The brand-new Playground mode allows players to create a lush garden full of exciting and exotic pinatas in a very short amount of time. In addition, certain rare pinatas can only be acquired by using the Nintendo DS local wireless connection, where players can transfer items from their garden to a friend's garden.

Addicting Game- But It's Not Like The XBox Version

I remember when I was younger I used to play this game all of the time on the X-Box version (it was technically called the Windows Live version for PC but its basically the same as the X-Box 360 version, just with sightly less features). The Nintendo DS version of the Viva Piñata game makes me so happy, it's just as addictive as the other versions and it's a great game to take on the go. The last time I owned this game was about 5 years ago and I loved playing it and even my mom got addicted to playing it. I lost the game around that time and I was really sad about it. Now that I see this game can be bought for just $5 I'm happy that I'll be enjoying this game again. Of course, this game doesnt have the best quality in graphics (it's a bit of an older game) and it's different to the other versions of this game with some miniclips and the 'sandbox' option, I feel like its still a game that many people can enjoy where you help your little piñatas live and be happy in your costom-made garden. I can't wait to be getting this game again :') It's very addicting...but the graphics and some parts of the gameplay are unlike the other versions.

Its okay, but not as good as the console version

Its a game I got because I wanted to play Viva Pinata but not have to buy an Xbox 360. I played in on a 3DS instead of the intended DS, so I think that explains the grainy/blocky graphics. The introduction/ instruction was extremely lacking, but if I recall correctly the console version was too. There are odd sections of episode-like instruction that you can chose to play through; they are activated when you reach certain points and are Very Frustrating. The space for keeping pinatas is a lot smaller than the console game: only about enough room for six "houses." As someone that likes to collect them, I found this rather upsetting. After "romance" there is a scene that's just like the console, but there is not mini-game. I honestly don't know why there wouldn't be either because it seems like it would be great on the DS. There is a "sand-box" mode but its not really fun, its just there to show the hidden pinatas I think.

Normally when a game is platformed from a core system to the Nintendo DS, it is usually pretty nerfed. That isn't the case at all for Viva Pinata for the DS. It is essentially the exact same game as the Xbox 360 version, but the touch screen makes it even easier to control. The graphics aren't bad at all for the DS. This game is probably one of my favorite DS games that i've ever played. The ability to take it with you on the go is definitely a plus too. The game is full of things to do, like trying to get new pinatas to enter your garden, or trying to romance your pinatas to get more. You can customize your garden in any way that you want by adding water, grass, dirt, tall grass, or even pavement. Overall this is exactly like the Xbox 360 version and definitely worth the buy if you enjoyed the older one.

For people who haven't played Viva Pinata it is not just for kids. Though it is appropriate for children, the game play is in depth enough to keep anyone who enjoys sim type games (more similarly Animal Crossing) entertained. For anyone who has played Viva Pinata and become addicted like I have, you will be thrilled with how well the game play is on the DS. Of all the games that are modified for the DS after being released on another console, I think this game has been the most successful. The graphics are decent and some of the best for this platform, the game play is almost identical to the XBOX 360 version and the touch screen actually makes it easier to interact in the game. I am so excited that I can now take one of my favorite XBOX 360 games with me everywhere.
