Suikoden Modernized

Fans to the Suikoden Storyline will enjoy this DS installment. Plot, as with all the prior games remains the same. You collect 108 Satrs of Destiny in order to fight the wickeds of the world. Magic is slightly different however, as each "Book" which contains a Rune instead is given to everyone within the Castle, blessing them with a distinctive Magically power. Magic itself remains still an enhancement to meleec ombat, as with the Suikoden tradition. Along with collecting all 108 Stars, there is enough fun activities in teh game to keep you quite entertained. I love the Suikoden Series, from Suikoden II (Top 3 fave games ever), all the way to present, so this was an enjoyable taste of what I hope is more in the series to come.

Different, but still good to the Suikoden name

If you're a fan of the Suikoden series, you'll be quite happy that a Suikoden series finally came out after so long, however not all aspects of the game reflects the previous Suikoden classics. The 108 Stars of Destiny are still in the game, however the most crucial part is missing...yes, the TRUE RUNES. Unless you view the Chronicles as True Runes, but even that does not make sense. The sound qualitity is kind of bad, it has a hazy static sound to it, Konami should've done a better job with the quality. In most Suikoden series you can put up to 6 characters in a battle party (excluding 4), in this you can only put up to 4 at a time. As in previous games, different combinations of character can and will produce different combos, experimenting is the fun of it, the same is true for Teirkeis. If you hoping to see previous Suikoden characters, you won't find them-Jeanne and Vikki will not be there, it's pretty much a spin off. The storyline itself is worth all the difference in the game. Suikoden is often know for the great storyline, or at least to me it is. Teirkeis follows your Hero as he and his friends as they encounter their first chronicle (a book) in a ruin that magically appear in their world. They eventually will band with others to fight the One True Order to stop their evil schemes as parts of their world begins to change and others merge with their theirs. And just who is the One True King? What are the Chronicles? The powers they hold? We'll that's for you to find out.

Think Outside the Box!

This Suikoden installment may not have the customization features of other adventure games, or even of the other Suikoden installments, but its an adventure for the ages. With a flawless, pristine soundtrack, a gripping storyline and endearing characters, this game is not merely a game but an adventure. In comparison to the more popular Final Fantasy series, Tierkreis doesn't feature battles that are intolerably difficult to sludge through. They are random, but after bonding with the characters, the random battles are a delight. Especially when you realize you have to put all of your characters on a level playing field, or else suffer the consequences! In addition to the comparison against Final Fantasy, Tierkreis doesn't feel drawn out over an endless map. Every location you visit has a purpose. Every character you come into contact has a purpose. One note about a character's voice actor. At first it may seem strange; almost striking. But once the game draws on, you become accustomed to that particular character's voice, as it suits his personality. Truth be told, he has the best voice actor of the game! I'm not a Final Fantasy nut, and I'm always on the lookout for new, different games of the adventure genre. If you aren't obsessed with the Final Fantasy series, and if you're in need of something fresh, Tierkreis will be right up your alley. It's a sight to behold on the Nintendo DS!

o.k let me get down to da niddy griddy it had all the qulities to expect in these they of rpg games they had tragedy, love, action, rivialry and suffering. yeah i enjoyed the storyline but the it kinda gets on your nerves. ok they had some secenes where the characters would talk which kinda caught me off gaurd then they had scences where they did not which personally made me mad if they could talk part of the time why not all the times you know what im sayin. it a simple fun game to help pass the time. a game where you could jump in and not no a single thing about the game or series and play and pick up on whats going on. i was not lost through out the story and liked it i was skeptical because i thought it would be like some other game i played (name left unsaid) but it truned out to be acctually fun. but it you want to know what t s like just rent it or buy it and see. the music was fair to listen to so yeah i enjoyed it.

An okay game !

to be honest, I've been a bit disappointed by this game. The Suikoden game suite on PS2 offered more flexibility and more character's customization than this one. I'm still playing this game, but the story is very linear and the only possible character customization is by choosing the weapons/armors/powers. This might not seems so bad, but in fact it doesn't offer a great deal of choices. The story by itself is interesting. The graphics are okay but not outstanding. The interface is easy to learn. The big drawback is the level of challenge, which isn't great. It's more like an adventure on which you click on the buttons to advance gradually...Overall, nothing in this game has been surprising thus far. I've play it for about 4 hours, in small periods, without much hope to see it become better...

Great Game

I haven't played any of the other Suikoden games in the series, so I wouldn't know, but this game is great. When I first saw the cover, I thought it was going to be good, but after watching the trailer, I lost all my doubts about this game. The graphics are beautiful; the anime cut scenes were a nice addition to the game. I liked how you could do combo attacks with your team members and had support characters. They had nice background music to match what was happening in the storyline. The voice acting was decent (though sometimes they spoke so fast like they were in a rush) and I didn't mind having them narrate the story occasionally. I've tried many RPGs and didn't get very far in most of them, mostly because of loss of interest or that I got stuck. But this is one of the first games that got me hooked, after Pokemon.

Well, the first thing that I would like to point out that this is a good game, it is not a great game, but it is a good one. Though I may not recommend it to a die hard fan of the series, or a die hard RPG fan, I would probably recommend it to someone who is starting out with RPG's as a way to get into them a bit more. Being a die hard Suikoden fan, I have to say I couldn't help being a bit disappointed in this game, it did not have the feel that a Suikoden game should have, though the music set most of the feel, the story line hacked the rest of the feel off. The controls of the game were pretty good, I had a few issues sometimes but not all the time, the character's are alright, not the main girl or the main hero, but the side characters and the others you meet in the beginning are pretty awesome. If you are just looking for something to pass the time and aren't that much of a fan of the series, I would tell you this is the game for you, but if you are a fan of the series, please, don't think this game is anything like the series, it's completely trying to separate itself from the main story lines and go out on it's own, to another die hard fan of the series, you probably won't like this game. As for the voice acting in the game. Terrible! Just terrible, the characters always sounded either too cocky, they would talk so fast you'd think they all had ADHD and it sounded like they were talking into a can. I'm sorry, but I do not think that a game, let alone an RPG on the DS should have full on voice acting, a word here and there, is fine, but not like this. This game could be a LOT better if a lot was changed. The character sprites (though I know they are not sprites, it's easier that way for me to describe it) reminded me too much of Final Fantasy DS remakes, which is not good since this game is made by Konami and not Square.

BEST RPG Next to Pokemon

I have to say when i saw the trailer for this i was like dang, and then i brought it and wow i got hooked. The storyline is amazing and the characters look amazing and thats not the best part. Just like any normal RPG games it has Voice-action and it actually with the works and its pretty amazing. The battle play is good to you can do combo's with your team and do counter with teammates not only that you can have someone be a supporter and their job it to heal one teammate each round so it saves you the trouble of healing each member. I haven't played it online yet but i bet that is pretty amazing this game will have you up all night not wanting to put it down it such a good game. So if your looking for a good RPG or your first RPG game for your DS then get this one you won't regert it.

This Game is Great!!!!

I have played alot of RPGs in my time. I even played the original final fantasy for NES but this is one of the most well made RPGs in a long time. Not only is the beautiful graphics for the Nintendo DS put together but the game play is another thing that is well made. It is funny to say but the story line being read to you by the characters is something that has died out and it is great that is back and I can actually enjoy the story instead of reading it. I wish they would make more games like this and it is a shame that not many people know about this. I also found that the way they put the action in the game is pretty in genius because it takes away the feeling of repetitiveness from an old style RPG. Like I said this is by far one of the best RPGs to come to the Nintendo DS in a long time. I love this GAME !!!!
