I am a big Sherlock Holmes fan and I had no idea how this game was going to be. The only thing you do in this game is search. However, the controls are smooth for a DS game and the graphics are really good. The gameplay is standard puzzle solving told entirely from the point of view of Sherlock, which is cool. There's also a hint system which for once actually works. If you're a fan than I recommend this game highly.

You'd think this game would be good, but...

I was extremely excited for this game, being as I'm a fan of both Sherlock Holmes and adventure games. Honestly, though, I couldn't get past the first room. The graphics have been dulled down so far from the original (which is a computer game) that it's grainy and hard to actually tell what you're looking at. Controlling with the stylus is clunky, and the room often moves so quickly when you accidentally press in the wrong place that I felt dizzy with Holmes looking up, down, and around when I wanted to go forward. It's impossible to tell what you can and cannot interact with, and even what things are -- I think, again, because of the resolution issues -- and the few times I zoomed all the way in on an area, or found something I could manipulate, it was out of complete luck. This game looks good on paper and previews but is literally unplayable. Don't buy it, you'll just end up disappointed.

Fresh off the dissappointment of the previews of the new movie, as a Sherloch Holmes fan I was really hoping for something decent involving this character. Alas, this game is not it. The movement is awkward and it can be hard to tell what the player is or isn't allowed to interact with, making it one of the most annoyingly frustrating games I have ever played. Seeing the first person prespective, I was hoping for something more along the lines of Phoenix Wright but this is (possibly) worse than one of the CSI games in terms of finding anything. You can only get one view of any given places and clues are hidden in the most obscure places. On top of that, at times you have to find clues you wouldn't even think you'd need. The story would be interesting if you could figure out how to progress it. I have yet to get through a chapter without needing the clues, and to me that defeats the purpose of playing a game. The sound itself isn't so bad as much as I get very sick very quickly of Holmes' voice overs of what I'm doing wrong.
