While the core combat is fun, once you get used to it, there are so many gimmicks surrounding the gameplay that it just feels like a chore to get through. Variety can be a good thing (which 358/2 Days lacked), but this game switches it up too often and far too much for my liking. I want to play Kingdom Hearts to beat up Heartless (and Nobodies... and Unversed... and Dream Eaters, I guess), not be forced into a search-for-the-right-word hunt. It doesn't help that the story has no right to exist whatsoever until the very end, and even then, only sort of. Not horrible, but there are way better ways to spend your time and far better Kingdom Hearts games to play, for that matter. Only get this if you are really curious and/or want to build up a KH collection, otherwise, just ignore it, even if it's still a passable game.
