If your looking for a nice and VERY beautiful platformer on the DS for your child or even possibly yourself (as long as you dont mind it being easy) then Garfields Nightmare is a very easy recommendation. The first thing you'll notice when starting it up are the absolutely gorgeous graphics. I really like that fact that developer Shin'en didnt skimp out on the graphics "just because" it was Garfield and not some triple A game. Seriously, its one of the best looking games on the DS with fantastic 3D graphics, though its gameplay is strickly 2D. The whole point of the game is getting from point A to point B while avoiding enemies, pitfalls, and hazards on the way. An old school platformer to say the least. There is nothing here new but what it does (i.e. platforming) it does very well done (and keep in mind this was made for children anyway). Controls are very simple with A being your jump button, B is your stomp button, and L and R control the camera movement up and down respectively. One very strange note is the fact that John, Odie, etc are absolutely nowhere in this game. Not a cameo or anything. Other then that its a great childrens game that if given the chance I think adults will get a bit of enjoyment out of it also.
