Honestly, when I bought "Dementium : The Ward", I had found it on the sale rack for half off. I had seen it at the Game Stop before, but wasn't sure I would like it (as I am a somewhat picky gamer), but I am a true horror movies fan so I thought, " I can always trade it in if I don't like it." I took the game home and was pleasantly surprised. The first person action was completely intense!!!!! Being able to HEAR things before I came to them and monsters jumping out at me was nerve-racking, and the fact that I couldn't see three feet in front of my character without my flashlight really inhanced my playing experience, adding to the ability to "loose" myself in the role. The different chapters and seemingly long spaces between game saving added to the excitement of getting from one level to the next, all with the curiosity of what monstrocities I would face next - and how I could kill them without dying myself. The controls of the character were a bit tricky at first, but I soon had the hang of it. It's a bit funny, but I wouldn't play it in a dark room or near bed time at first either ( I am 36 -by the way)! There were some things I would improve on, but not many. It would have been easier to be able to hold the flashlight and use a weapon at the same time, but it did help to make the game a bit harder since the things that "go bump" had to be somewhat close to see and kill, giving them good opportunity to kill me first. The aiming mark turning red really helped with this problem although I still had to be closer than I wanted too to kill them. I also would have liked there to be a better variety of bosses to beat, and more puzzles and codes to find. I was a bit disappointed in the ending result, expecting more of an explaination of the events and the character's reason for being in the hospital to begin with (which is what I thought was the whole purpose of the journey was to begin with). All in all, I found the game engrossing, easily loosing myself in it. I have truely hunted more games along this line, and have only found one even close (but still not as intense). I really hope that there will be more games along this nature in the future, and I really look forward to the release of Dementium 2, which I plan on pre-ordering as soon as humanly possible.
yes: I recommend this product
