Hyrule's Epic History

Heroes of the Past

In a time of great turmoil, the seven sages of legend sealed away the evil Ganon and restored peace to Hyrule. Many generations later, the kingdom is at peace under the benevolent rule of Princess Zelda.

Dark Wizardry

On an errand to deliver a sword from the blacksmith's shop, Link stumbles upon a magical attack. The sorcerer Yuga transforms a young girl—the descendant of a legendary sage—into a living painting, defeats Link, and vanishes.

Mysterious Benefactor

An oddly dressed stranger returns Link to his home and gives him a mystical bracelet that will prove invaluable in the adventure to come.

A Stranger in Lorule

Granted the power of interdimensional travel and equipped with items rented from Ravio, Link must travel between Hyrule and the dark mirror world of Lorule. Its dungeons are treacherous, but they lead to an even more ominous confrontation

Wall Merging

Link's most powerful tool in this 3D adventure is the ability to go 2D at critical moments. It adds a new dimension to the tricky dungeon puzzles that have been the hallmark of the series. Nowhere to stand? Just jump into the wall as a living painting and scoot around the corner to a safe ledge. Careful though—you can't hang out on the wall as long as you'd like.

Merging with walls is handy trick for getting through dungeons and evading enemies, but its most important use might be inter-dimensional travel. Flatten yourself out to slip between the cracks that connect Hyrule and Lorule.

Weapons Rental

Any fan of the series knows that completing a dungeon often required specific items, and you needed to complete tasks in a certain order to get the items. Not anymore. All of the basic items you can equip are available at Ravio's Shop—you just have to pay for them. That gives you the freedom to explore the world and try out dungeons as you see fit.

When you rent items from Ravio, there's a catch: you'll lose them if you get defeated in a dungeon. You do have the option to buy them later in the game, if you have the Rupees to spare.

Features:

  • A daring adventure awaits Link in Hyrule, where he can use his new ability to become a drawing and move along walls of dungeons. This opens up ways to explore and puzzle elements that give Link access to locations he could not otherwise reach.
  • The game brings this top-down, 2D world to life with elevation and depth made possible by the Nintendo 3DS system's stunning 3D visuals that reinvent classic Zelda game play at a constant 60 frames per second.
  • Using the touch screen, touch and drag the item from the items window and switch the item assigned to the X and/or Y buttons.

Nice way to change up to the ALttP formula that Nintendo tends to put in every Zelda game.
