Only the BRAVE will triumph

Dark times have befallen the land of Luxendarc, and its fate is in the hands of Tiz Arrior and his three comrades. Mold them into heroes as you take a fantastic journey in Square Enix's highly acclaimed RPG for the Nintendo 3DS system.

Characters:

Agnès Oblige

Agnès watches over the Wind Crystal, one of the four crystals worshiped by the faithful of Crystal Orthodoxy. When a dark power overruns her temple and the world, she sets off on a quest to awaken the crystals.

Tiz Arrior

The sole survivor of Norende, Tiz Arrior is haunted by his failure to save his brother. He won't rest until he has restored his village.

Edea Lee

Initially dispatched by her fatherem-the Grand Marshal of the Eternian Forcesem-to capture Agnès, Edea eventually joins Tiz's party in their quest to seek the truth and restore balance to the world.

Ringabel

Confident and charming, the rakish Ringabel remembers nothing of his past. The future is another storyem-this maidens' man possesses a mysterious journal that tells him his destinations and the people he will meet.

Airy

This Cryst-Fairy accompanies Agnès on her journey and provides valuable information about Luxendarc and the ways of the world.

Combat

DARE to risk everything in battle

Calculated risk and reward are central to the battles in Bravely Default. As you wander the landscape of Luxendarc, enemies will take the fight to you when you least expect item- so you need to be ready with a well-balanced team and sound strategies.

Breaking Down the Battle

Bravely Default offers turn-based battles with a twist. You'll find a wealth of traditional moves and abilities at your disposal, and also innovative game play mechanicsem-like the Brave, Default, and Bravely Second commandsem-that enhance battles in new ways.

Brave & Default

Success in combat demands that you wisely manage your Brave Points (BP). When you enter a battle, you can elect to Defaultem-which partially shields you from attacks and builds up BPem-or to Braveem-which spends BP to unleash multiple attacks at once. If you unleash your Brave attacks at the right time, you can defeat tough enemies quickly, preserve the health of your party members and gain bonus points towards jobs and experience.

Bravely Second

In addition to Brave Points, your characters can use Sleep Points (SP) to freeze time for your enemies during battle with the Bravely Second command. It's a powerful tool, but you should use it sparinglyem-you need to put your Nintendo 3DS or 2DS system in Sleep Mode to slowly build up your SP.

Special Moves

Each weapon has special moves that you can make your own with customized names. You can also create a battle cry for when you unleash the move in combat. Assign your move to your profile, and then exchange it with other Bravely Default players via the StreetPass feature.

After taking some time to review and play the demo, I finally purchased Bravely Default for my 3DS and wasn't disappointed. This game is very similar to the Final Fantasy series, and has plenty of subquests and customization to make any RPG fan happy for a long time. The graphics and music are simply stunning, and the gameplay itself is well worth taking time to enjoy this title. I highly recommend this to any RPG fan or Final Fantasy fan out there that likes customization, ease of play, and old-school RPG's.

I've heard about this game from reviews and other sites, being someone who play the demo i wasn't sold, fast forward to tge sequel and from there i was hooked so i decided to give the first entry another go at it, i wasnt wrong in my decision to go back and now its my main game when on the go, great story, memorable characters and only on the 3rd chapter but alot of content that you'd get your money's worth so for me it's a buy just off of the story alone.

This is by far one of the best turn based RPG's to come out in the last decade, when I say that I mean on par with Golden Sun. Classic gamers will love this game, and draw in newcomers to the genre. If you don't have this game or have not tried it for yourself, do so and you will not regret it. If you don't someday you will want to, but it will cost an arm and a leg.

If you're an old school gamer with roots in early Final Fantasy games you will absolutely love this game. It has it all, music, pace, plot, graphics, compelling personalization, just a touch of modern spin with streetpass and most of all it is fun! The humour that Ringabel brings is delightful, Tiz can be slightly stoic and a bit of a wiener but overall the characters are likeable and someone you will be rooting for. Weather you want to be a ranger that also uses black magic, or a summoner who dabbles in knightly endeavors you can set up your party any way you like as you acquire more jobs. While not too difficult the game isn't a mindless turn based attack fest, boss fights will be tough without good strategy and careful execution. Overall this is on par with Chrono Trigger and the great Final Fantasy games of my childhood. I think any self respecting RPG fan would have to be crazy not to pick this up.
