The openings in the bottom of each slot are wide enough that you’re not confident that your switch games won’t fall through. The slots are also kind of short so steelbook cases don’t fit well if at all.

How tall does it stand

It is around maybe 12 inches. We purchased 2 ourselves due to the amt of games for multiple systems we have. We enjoy them they are made very well.

Is it possible for it to hold Nintendo Switch cases well in either a vertical or horizontal setup?

It seems to store the Nintendo Switch cases well vertically and even horizontally. I think the cases hold better horizontally, though that may be just my opinion.
