It’s a good RPG creator, but I wish the game had some sort of tutorial. Without one, it’s very confusing how exactly to do certain things and it left me stumped more often than not. Still good though.

The learning curve is a little steep, but there are plenty of tutorials online if you need them, as well as a supportive community to help you. The game itself is incredibly addicting and very fun to use. You will need patience, time to craft and debug, and a little creativity, but it's all there to make your childhood dreams of basic game design a reality and provide a very rewarding experience.

The tools available in this iteration of the RPG Maker series are limited but diverse enough to let you create games of surprising depth. Additional resources are available through both free and paid DLC (some now with reduced prices). My only complaints are that you can't have more than one event triggering at a time (i.e., two characters can't move simultaneously), and the collision options are needlessly limited on world maps. The free game player (available on the Eshop) even lets you download and play games for free.

I've used RPG maker in the past and now that it is on the 3ds makes it very easy to just pick it up and create something whenever you have inspiration!

It opens up so many ideas and possibilities. There are so many characters, maps, monsters, etc. to choose from. If you always wanted to create your own game or story, this is an accessible tool for you!
