It’s a fun and simple game for those of us who aren’t the best at video games but also fun for those who want a “vacation” from tougher games.
This is a really cute game with a neat storyline. The gameplay isn't confusing, though it can be a little difficult at first to figure out what the game wants you to do. Thankfully, Pikachu has hints.
Great 3DS game that I recommend if you're a fan of stuff like Professor Layton or Ace Attorney games. Not your traditional Pokemon experience.
It's a great game!! Keeps you thinking a lot and that you do not want to miss a thing.
Detective Pikachu is less about the action of a typical Pokemon game and more about walking around talking to people and solving logical puzzles. As a result, it can feel slow becuase you do a *lot* of talking. But it can also be linear in that the story is broken up in specific chapters--so you won't be able to move around much in each area, you just do what needs to happen there and then the story moves you along to another place. It's fun to play if you take it with the same sort of conversation-heavy gameplay as, say, a Phoenix Wright game. It can sometimes get annoying having to slowly talk Pikachu through solving a puzzle or regularly having him jumping up and down eager to talk to you. It's a nice extra touch that the movie diverges from the game early on, so if you've experienced one, it doesn't really spoil the other.
