Playing my Steam games on it, nice bonus. Only gripe is that it needs more game titles.
I totally love the new Atari VCS console. It is a great living-room enhancement hybrid pc/console unit. Awesome, was worth waiting for it !
I will be honest. At first impression I was not impressed. I fired up my new system and found 4K availability with only 8 bit games to show for the most part. The app selection and clunkyness of the controllers were a bit disappointing at first at well.. I will say though this thing really shines in pc mode where it functions flawlessly. With Bluetooth and 4 USB ports (you can buy a hub to expand) this thing can host the usual gamut of peripherals making it a fairly capable gaming pc for most emulator types. I also love the fact the the pc environment is usb bootable so my Atari games and OS are still just a restart away. If you aren’t gung-ho about the walnut I’d much recommend the onyx edition as most other controllers have Bluetooth, but if you’re going for collectibility you can always get one of each
The Atari VCS at first seemed bad I was hesitant with the limited content and chunky user interface but the more I thought about its honestly not that bad a deal I mean yes the price may seem a bit high but with ps5, xbox and gpus pretty much impossible to get these days. The power of this console is honestly a good second best I mean I am able to play a majority of my favorite steam game son the console and I do enjoy the nostalgic feel it has so to me yeah the price is justified when compared with the fact hardware being hard to find these days

I was very vocal in my disdain for this system the last couple years, but came around when looking for a stylish, mini PC to do some retro gaming. And THAT is what converted me. Here's the thing... don't think of this as a "console," but as an alternative to a mini PC (like the NUC). In that context, the VCS is pretty amazing. For the price, you couldn't get a more well-designed mini PC. And, on top of that, you get the entire Atari OS and its ecosystem (including over 100 free games and a growing library). The retro-inspired controllers are pretty darn good too, to be honest, and totally complete the look. I run Batocera on a thumb drive as an alternative OS when I don't use the Atari side, which makes this a dual-purpose device (that does emulation exceptionally well). So, when you combine the awesome hardware design, decent horsepower (I upgraded to 16GB of RAM and a 1 TB drive), stylish controllers and growing ecosystem, the VCS is actually a pretty awesome little retro gaming machine!
