Everything about this game is done right amazing story, the doom feeling that 3 created once more brought back
Great game in a long line of amazing games from the doom franchise. Graphics are crisp and the fast paced gameplay makes the game a must play
Perfect for completing missions and achievement with friends and provides hours of fun killing stuff
This is my first Doom game and I can say that this game is great, although it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. The amount of gore can be disconcerting and drive of players, but if your fine with gore or power through the first level and get used to it (like I did) you will find a great game. Some of the game mechanics might seem unusual to the modern gamer but they really add to the experience. Always running at full speed allows you to get to the action faster and adds a new (or rather old for og fans) element to the firefights. Never having to reload threw me off at first but as time went on I couldn’t imagine having to reload in this game, it makes each firefight seem more fast paced than other FPS games that came out years after this. Another thing that might throw off current day gamers is the lack of story, sure things are explained about why and how the demons are invading and there’s even a in-game but honestly can you even compare this story with say... Halo? But in my honest opinion, this is a rare case where the lack of story adds to the game. Blasphemous I know but Doomguy is a badass, putting in a extensive story would mean cutscenes and cutscenes mean you taking your hands off the controller and less time to play as gaming’s original badass crushing the skulls of demons. Even if that wasn’t the case, an extensive story would probably mean Doomguy following orders, which would make him more of a soldier and not the Doom Slayer.
DOOM glory-kills its way back into the mainstream with, well... DOOM, the long-awaited fourth entry into the franchise. It's everything a game like DOOM should be: fast-paced, a lot of fun, and addictive. And really, really violent. And it does it all without having to adopt a plethora of modern FPS game tropes. It stands out on its own, which makes this game worth playing and why I will probably be playing this game for a long time. Rest assured, this is the DOOM game long-time fans deserve and have been waiting oh so patiently for. Despite nobody buying this game for the multiplayer (shame on you if you did), it's a wonderful bonus for anyone looking for a good old fashioned Arena Shooter competitive experience.
