Feels just like a game cube controller with all the new features!
I do need to state upfront that I am a comparative newbie at playing Smash, but my sons and I love playing together on our Wii and Switch. My opinion is based on being a casual player who appreciates when something just works - and does it well. It was awesome being able to plug the older style GC controllers directly into the Wii, but all we could afford was the "cheapo" generic no-name ones. We kept having problems with those (of course) as well as the adapter we had when we moved over to the Switch for Ultimate. I did my fair amount of research and found myself buying these in-person. When I got home, I cracked them open and had my oldest test everything out for me. He approved, and later we ended up all playing together. I can't express to you just how much I personally LOVE these controllers (we also bought the Luigi one). The weight is incredibly satisfying, the sticks and buttons feel just right, and the cord is thick, long, and really beefy-feeling. Not worried about it fraying or coming apart in any way. Going back to the buttons, your eyes do not deceive you - the bumper/trigger buttons are quick-press just like the pro controller instead of feeling like the original GC ones. I personally much prefer this any day. They have a satisfying and solid press which you can pull off really quickly. Like I said, we play Smash with these, but I appreciate that they are recognized like a wired Pro controller, so they could be used for other games, if I want to. And you could feel confident doing so, because the d-pad is head-and-shoulders above any of the GC-style controllers I've used previously. If you're liking what you see here, just buy it and try it out. Can't speak to the longevity just yet, but I'll say that I don't have any worries at this point. Of course, if that ever ends up changing, I'll be right back here for an update!
It does not work on all games but my son loves it for the ones it work for . Our joy con on the switch keep on messing up on us. There is something with on the joy con.
I thought I wasnt going to like it considering that its not like a GC controller in terms of the triggers/bumpers but I got used to it for smash quickly and think that’ll be great for other games. I really like that I can change the c-stick on it, I havent done it but it is cool.
Excellet service and good paddle for $20. Great for Smash Brothers.
