Bungie returns to the futuristic universe of its acclaimed shared-world shooter in Destiny 2. Maintaining the taut gunplay and exploration that attracted millions to its predecessor, Destiny 2 breaks new ground with deeper opportunities for narrative engagement, in-game clan support, and a redesigned approach to core elements like progression, weapon systems, and navigation between activities.

After a string of triumphs, the Guardians of the Destiny universe are devastated by the arrival of a new foe: Lord Ghaul is the menacing head of the Cabal Red Legion, and he's arrived to prove humanity's unworthiness to wield the Traveler's light. The Guardians have lost their power, their weapons, their armor, and their home, and what follows is a tale of recovery from the brink of annihilation.

Destiny 2 features four brand new featured destinations, including an oceanic moon of Saturn, and a planetoid overrun by the mysterious Vex and their machinery. New emergent activities on each planet help to tell the story of the location, including intriguing Lost Sectors, findable dungeons scattered across the landscape.

Returning character subclasses have joined several entirely new subclasses, like the Dawnblade Warlock, who rises high into the air on thermal currents to fling fireballs into the midst of enemy formations. And weapon types have been reorganized to encourage increased flexibility and greater play balance.

The competitive Crucible also makes its return, with brand new maps and modes and a 4v4 combat system built to encourage learnable, readable, and highly watchable PvP.

Destiny 2 is designed from the ground up to hold on to what its veteran players loved, but invite millions of new players into the mix with approachable design and engaging storytelling. Watch for it to be one of the biggest releases of the year when it hits on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 8, with a PC version expected to follow.
