The best-selling, first-person action series of all time makes its return, setting out to reinvigorate the beloved Modern Warfare franchise. This time around, developer Infinity Ward will take players on the most dramatic single-player story campaign to date. Players will be placed in the boots of Tier One operators who tread the line between black and white. Will you break the rules of modern war?
This year’s iteration will also allow players to jump into the ultimate multiplayer experience, with the focus shifted back to the classic style of boots-on-the-ground gameplay that Call of Duty players know and love.
Grounded Combat and Fast-Paced, Down-the-Barrel Gameplay: More of the core COD gameplay, less of the wall-running and jetpacks.
Deep Weapon Customization: Make your weapons your own with the Gunsmith, which provides players with the most weapon choices ever in a Call of Duty game.
More Variety Than Ever Before: Play solo in your own visceral single-player campaign, team up with a friend for Special Ops and squad up for your fan-favorite Multiplayer Modes to storm some of the largest ever multiplayer maps Call of Duty players have ever seen.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is set to release on October 25, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Modern Warfare will also be available in a C.O.D.E. Edition, which adds a pre-order bonus of a C.O.D.E. Calling Card and a donation to the Call of Duty Endowment, which assists unemployed veterans with finding high-quality jobs. The C.O.D.E. Edition also includes playable Captain Price in Blackout Mode, as well as Early Access to the Modern Warfare BETA on September 12th for PS4 players.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Dark Edition will also release on October 25th, and will include everything that’s already included with the C.O.D.E. Edition as well as a pair of functioning Night Vision Goggles that allow you to see up to 20 meters in the dark. It includes custom decals and design details based on the pair of goggles found in the game.
Black Ops IV jettisoned Call of Duty's traditional narrative campaign in favor of a stronger focus on online multiplayer. That change introduced new modes along with a battle royale called Blackout. We loved this mode, but the campaign was undeniably missed.
Modern Warfare brings back Call of Duty's story in a big way with a campaign that is not quite a sequel, but also not quite a remake. Iconic Call of Duty mustachioed soldier Captain Price plays a major role in the game, however.
2019's Modern Warfare represents the series' biggest graphical, technical, and potentially maturity leap in years with hyper-realistic graphics and a story that aims to represent war in a realistic light, as opposed to a bombastic hero's journey as it has been in the past. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare releases October 25, 2019.
