Product Details:

Set in the mythical world of Middle-Earth, The Hobbit(tm) is an action adventure game based upon J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary tale. The player will control Bilbo from his peaceful Hobbit hole in Hobbiton into the dark and harrowing Mirkwood forest and finally to the Lonely Mountain, in which lies Smaug the dragon. Sent on a journey by Gandalf the wizard along with Thorin the dwarf and his stout and sturdy cohorts, Bilbo will acquire items, knowledge, and in the case of a Hobbit, courage to help him complete the quest as he comes face to face with elves, trolls, orcs, spiders, wolves and more

Bilbo Baggins:
Son of the quite sensible, responsible Bungo Baggins and the remarkable, adventurous Belladonna Took, Bilbo Baggins is a Hobbit who very much wants to live his life in peace and comfort, much like his father lived his own life before him. But will the Took in his blood let Bilbo live the quiet life?

Hobbits are short of stature with oversized, leathery feet, which are covered in thick bushy hair. Bilbo has a kind, simple demeanor, is in his middle years, and from the looks of him, is quite well fed.

Gandalf the Wizard is one of the most legendary, awe-inspiring figures in all of Middle-earth. You have undoubtedly heard tales of his many adventures, of which those detailed in The Hobbit(tm) are only a few, for they sprouted up all over the place wherever he went, in the most extraordinary fashion. He is a kind, open-minded wizard, and the only one who can see the courage and strength that lie hidden in the heart of a timid Hobbit.

Gandalf is a tall, imposing wizard. He has thick, bushy eyebrows, and his long beard hangs over his silver scarf and reaches all the way down to his belt. He carries a staff, and is garbed in grey robes and a tall, blue, pointed wizard's hat.

The Dwarves:
King Thorin Oakenshield, son of Thr?in, son of Thror, is a direct descendant of Durin, the oldest and most powerful of the Seven Fathers of the Dwarves. He became king after the death of his father, Thr?in, at the hands of the Necromancer of Mirkwood. Following the plan of Wizard Gandalf, Thorin assembled a party of Dwarves to return to the Lonely Mountain and reclaim their stolen treasure from the dragon Smaug.

Thorin is taller than Bilbo, and very strong and stocky. The King is larger than most of his fellow Dwarves. For such a short creature, he is quite an imposing, gruff presence. He wears a sky-blue hooded cloak with a long silver tassel.

Fili and Kili are the youngest members of Thorin's company of Dwarves. Theyare brothers, and nephews of Thorin Oakenshield, King of the Dwarves. They accompany their brethren to retake the Lonely Mountain from the Dragon Smaug.

Like all Dwarves, they are fierce fighters and full of pride. As the youngest, they tend to act a little sillier than most, and are more rash and impatient. They may make fun of Bilbo from time to time, but like the rest of the Dwarves, they can be impressed by the Hobbit's courage and big heart.

Ori, Dori, and Nori are also of the House of Durin, and kinsmen of Thorin.

Balin and Dwalin are two of the oldest Dwarves in Thorin's company. Thorin is the eldest, followed closely by Balin and then Dwalin. Balin is the only Dwarf besides Thorin who has ever been under the Lonely Mountain, the kingdom which was stolen from the Dwarves by the Dragon almost two hundred years ago.

Balin and Dwalin are brothers, and are not quite as surly as the other Dwarves in the company. Though they are more kindhearted, they are no less fierce in battle.

Balin takes to Bilbo immediately, and encourages the Hobbit(tm). The two will become fast friends and maintain that friendship for many years after their adventure in The Hobbit(tm).

Balin's deep pride in the heritage of the Dwarves will also drive him to try to reclaim Moria, the ancient Dwarf-city called Khazad-D?m.

Oin and Gloin are cousins to Balin and Dwalin. Gloin is skeptical about Bilbo's worth as a burglar, but Bilbo can win him over with acts of bravery. Gloin's son Gimli wanted to join in the quest, but is a little too young?e's even younger than Fili and Kili.

Bifur, Bofur, and Bombur are descended from the Dwarves of Khazad-D?m. Bombur and Bofur are brothers, and cousins to Bifur.

Bombur's greatest interest in life seems to be the consumption of food. No matter the danger, his mind is usually on the food he could be eating if only fate were not so cruel as to deny him.

Bifur and Bofur are united in their irritation at Bombur's love forfood. They don't want him to become so fat that he won't be able to move himself from his couch to his chair without being lifted.

The Elves:
The Elvenking Thranduil

Thranduil established his kingdom in Greenwood the Great before it became the corrupted forest now known as Mirkwood. His kingdom still thrives, and his love of riches and jewels makes his kingdom a dreamlike, heavenly sight.

The Elvenking is an ancient and wise Elf. His crown changes with the season. In the autumn it has berries and red leaves. In the spring it is made of woodland flowers.

Elrond, the Half-Elven master of Rivendell, is also the subject of many adventurous tales - much like his friend Gandalf. He is strong as a warrior, wise as a wizard, venerable as a Dwarf-king, and kind as summer. His face is ageless, neither old nor young. In his long years in Middle-earth, he has seen many things both glad and sorrowful.

Lianna is a Wood-Elf of Mirkwood. She is a respected and feared warrior in the Elvenking's army.

Lianna is very clear and direct in her dealings with others. She treats people with all the respect they deserve, and repays her debts threefold. She has an independent streak, and dislikes injustice. As an adventurer, she often embarks on mysterious quests to visit folk outside Mirkwood.

The Men:
Corwin is a huntsman from Lake-town. Even though it's risky, he likes to hunt deer in Mirkwood forest. Despite the risks from the evil that is growing in Mirkwood, Corwin and his brother like to join hunting camps with the other Men of Lake-town.

Beorn is an ill-tempered yet kindly man who lives in the dangerous lands between the Goblin-infested Misty Mountains and the Necromancer of Mirkwood. He loves animals, but tends to shun the company of all other folk except his fellow Beornings. He is a skin-changer, which means he can change from a man to a great bear.

When Beorn is a man, he is incredibly large, with thick muscular arms, black hair, and a great black beard. When he is a bear, Beorn is the largest and most fearsome of all the black bears. All but the most foolhardy of Goblins know to stay away from him when he in bear-form.

Bard is a quiet man, grim and cold. He is a Captain in Lake-town, and an archer of great renown. His kinsmen know his worth and courage, though they may consider him something of a doomsayer. He comes from the line of Girion, Lord of the city of Dale, which was destroyed by Smaug hundreds of years ago.

On a slimy island of rock in the middle of a lake under the Misty Mountains lives Gollum. He is a strange, small, slimy creature with pale, luminous eyes that appear to glow in the dark. His long, webby feet give him a very unnatural look. And those teeth...

The Gollum's fate is a cautionary tale to Hobbits everywhere. He's the perfect example of what can happen to a poor soul corrupted by greed. His magical ring extended his life far beyond its natural span, but corrupted him. Hefeeds on fish and unsuspecting Goblins, and guards his precious ring.

Smaug is the last of the great Dragons of Middle-earth. He is greedy and revels in gold and jewels, even though he can't spend them. He destroyed the great cities of Dale and Erebor. He stole the treasure of the Dwarves after attacking their city of Erebor, in the Lonely Mountain. Few creatures are more feared than the vile Smaug.

Smaug is a great, winged worm with massive leathery wings. He is covered in rock-hard scales, and his soft belly is protected by a crust of jewels and gold, from lying so long on a bed of riches.

Smaug is clever and cunning, and accustomed to outwitting enemies as well as overpowering them. He is a massive, ominous presence, and far too powerful for a simple Hobbit from the Shire.
