Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Immersive gameplay earns KOTOR a 10/10.
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) character customization and development coupled with choices that effect the storyline assist in the immersive experience the Star Wars: KOTOR realm offers gamers. This game earns a nine out of ten in my book and is a welcome addition to the Star Wars universe.
Developed by BioWare, a company that brought gamers the likes of the Mass Effect Series and Dragon Age: Origins, KOTOR succeeds in immersing players in the environment and story that takes place four thousand years before the beloved Star Wars movies. The plot of the game is fairly linear, allowing for some player manipulation of the story along the way while still reaching major objectives. The defining concept of KOTOR is that the game allows the player the choice to play as a Jedi would, helping and saving everyone, or take on the role of a Sith Lord thirsty for galactic domination. BioWare does an excellent job of creating a reactive environment based on character preference and persona. For example, non-playable characters will treat you differently based on your light or dark side aura. The main character is slowly developed throughout the course of the game based on choices by the gamer and this development spurs changes in the plot. I gave this game a ten out of ten on gameplay and lasting appeal for it’s rich story regardless of the path taken and the seamless integration the effects choice has on the environment and surrounding characters.
The character customization is adequate in providing many skill sets, physical alterations, and powers that allow the player thousands of combinations. If you are the type of player who enjoys free reign over character development and customization, then you will certainly enjoy the numerous options KOTOR provides. If you have ever played Fallout 3 or Oblivion, think of the customization options in KOTOR similar to those. The level of creativity a player can put into developing and shaping their character to their liking is near limitless. I believe watching your player progress through the ranks and selecting and developing proficiencies really sets this game apart from others in terms of the immersive experience it provides.
The sounds and graphics are top notch for 2003 and are still impressive by today’s standards. The effects of dramatic lightsaber battles, voice acting, and the sounds of the worlds to which the player will travel are well done with much thought and effort put into every little component. From the rustle and bustle of Taris to the ominous jungle of Kashyyyk, the player will also experience a variety of locales with stunning details and unforgettable characters.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is personally one of my favorite games, and this is coming from a guy who has played MANY games. If you’re a Star Wars fanboy, this game is a dream come true, and if you’re just a casual gamer then it’s still an excellent game to play. Because of the compelling story, character progression and customization, and a powerful relation between actions and plot, I give KOTOR a ten out of ten! I would certainly recommend this game to anyone and everyone and may the force be with you!
Best Star Wars game ever
star wars knights of the old republic is a classic. This was the 2ND bioware game I've played. (first being NeverWinter nights which is also a decent game) Anyway this game in my opinion just as good as the movies if not better. The story is awesome, (with the best plot twist ever won't spoil it for those who haven't played it) The game isn't extremely hard on the default setting but I wouldn't call it easy either. This game is geared towards hardcore gamers and star wars fans but theres an easy mode if your just a casual gamer or if your just playing for the storyline. Since this game is cheap now so I would recommend this heck if this was a $100 I would still recommend it
Definitely One Of The Best Star Wars Games Ever!!!
Outstanding graphics for its time, great abilities, and a great story line. All of these make this game an outstanding game for its time. I played it a while ago, but I forgot to rate it, so here I am; If any of you guys have ever played it and agree with me, give a thumbs up!! Every thumbs up counts!!!!
Yes. This game is Awesome. This is a game for every type of gamer, unless you don't like these kind of games, then it's not for you (Duh). Your Character starts out on a Republic ship under attack by evil Sith, wanting to find a Jedi with a Power to Turn the tide of a battle for the good of the good guys...or the bad guys. Your objective is to find her on the planet Taris. Once your find her, you can become a Powerful Jedi, or if you want, an evil Sith(Which is an awesome feature). Your next objective is to relocate a lost race and their maps to save to Galaxy, or destroy it. This game has great customization. From being able to wield blasters, to carrying a lightsaber around with you, this game has it all. Note you will never have to play the game solo, through the course of the game you are able to get Party Members who can help you on your quest, they you can also Customize. This game is amazing, a definite buy for any type of gamer, unless your stupid.
The best RPG ever
Let me put this into perspective for you, even if you aren't a star wars movie fan, you WILL enjoy this game. It has nothing to do with the star wars movies besides just basic topics like the force, Jedi, Sith etc. Whether you are a fan or not you will love the deep story line that puts you in control of your own choices. The Story has fantastic plot twists that hardly anyone could see coming. If you have never played a RPG game a day in your live you will quickly take to this one. It has amazing game-play and controls that really bring you into the RPG experience and enjoy it. There are so many great things about this games that I can't fit it in this review. So I'll make it short, Hard core RPG fans will love it, Star Wars fans will love it, none-star wars fans will love it, game players in general will love this game. It is without a doubt one of the best games of all time. You need to play this game.
good game overall
I liked this game at the beginning. It was a very good game, though I thought that it could have been a little bit longer and that you couldn't really control the customzation of your character. This is a great game for beginners or even veterans of the star wars games. The graphics were good and so was the sound, but the fact that you couldn't go where you wanted on a planet was a definite downside. In my opinion I would have liked a little more of a challenge when it came to the gameplay. Some people may think that this game is too long, but I think that it wasn't long enough. I like a game where it takes more than six days to beat (that's at a maximium). This game has a lot of side quests, which is one thing that I really liked, and one thing that keeps me playing it over and over. One good thing is that no matter what gender you choose, the game takes that into consideration. Even with its faults this is a very good game. I definitely reccomend getting this game, and it's a solid 8 out of 10.
The best RPG ever made and own of the best games to come along in this decade. Ive played this game atleast 50 times and I still love it. If they were to make a remastered version of this game and put it on the 360 or PS3 I would buy it in a heartbeat. This game may be old but its still better than any and every RPG out or coming out. Buy this game because of its epicness and you will not be dissapointed
BEST GAME EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
all right first of all let me say there are some small flaws like the sounds there very repetiteve and the first world taris it is very long first time through but dantoin rocks the character custimization is good but not great if you get mods its cool but dont try transfering them to your xbox waist of time of all the worlds (SPOILER SKIP IF WANTED) the hidden world at the end is cool you find some juicey secrets so look forword to that. Mannan is boring be ready to go to the sith base because if you come through the front entrance they take you to court so be aware on tattoine IMPORTANT PART OF THE GAME go to the droid shop and talk to the owner he will tell you about HK-47 one of the best characters in the game so pick him up INFO he cost 4000 credits but the guy can be haggeled down to 2500 so be ready tip swoop racing is a good way to get credits you also get a krayt dragon peral there its a very good lightsaber crystal do korriban last if light side so you can stay lightside because you get a lot of dark side there over all best game i ever played so if you like star wars or rpgs (not rocket propeled granades) try it.
Beast game back in the old days
Okay this game is great make your own character and you get to upgrade you force powers and weapons. And you can change the story back in the old days b4 the 360 i beat this game 8 times being bad was my favorite.I wish they would make a new one or remaster this and the second one for playstation and xbox 360 cause it was big in the old days.I just could not put it down. You can be good or evil if your evil you get more gold and stuff, but your skin changed as it turns gray.like fable. When i got the xbox 360 i still played this.its just a master piece sure the way you fight is not the best and is made for the computer but it still worked. The Graphics were the best in the old days, but im going to say this if they make a kotor collection for the 360 and ps3 i will buy it.I sold my 360 btw so i'd hope it would be on ps3 also.I heard of them making a ktor 3 cant wait that is if it comes out.
KOTOR is the best role-playing i've played on the xbox.Even though the game is old and so is the xbox but it was the first games i got with xbox. This game has many great features and some bad ones but there are more good ones.First you can choose what side you want to be on and you have a wide variety of weapons including the lightsaber. Also, there's a weapon that you wouldn't think was in the game. Now for some bad things which there are only three glitches but they are pretty annoying. One there is one glitch that can make your charater float in the air as if your charater is walking.Second there is one where you character stops for five seconds then starts moving again (the first glitch is what happens after the second glitch.)Finally there is a glitch that when your attacking someone and your character doesn't move but is still doing damage.(that's kind of a good glitch.) So yeah there you have it. BUY THE GAME!!!!!!!!
