Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords
This game needs to be remade for next-gen consoles
Its a shame that it was rushed. Really...Obsidian really know how to craft a complex storyline. Not knocking down KOTOR here. It needs to remade as well (imagine it with Mass Effect level of visual detail!), but the ending is not finished. Lucas forced them to release it rushed, and forced a cop-out ending instead of the complex muti-choice ending originally to be offered.
Either way, this game deserves real kudos for turning the moral choice system on its head by making the player feel guilty for either extreme choice. Kreia is easily the most interesting video game character ever created, and its a shame they were forced to cop-out with her the way they did.
Its similar to Obsidian's Fallout: New Vegas, but in reverse this time (rushed beginning vs. rushed ending...and yes its unfortunately buggy too).
And just like Fallout New Vegas, there's a lot of mixed reaction to KOTOR2. It SHOULD of been the better game (like New Vegas) but wasn't.
Still, if you played KOTOR but never played the sequel, please do it. Its definitely a memorable experience, and one of the only games that challenges the player to truly think about the universal consequences of the choices levied at them.
Knights of the Old Republic is an AMAZING Series
If you're into Star Wars, this game (or the original) is a must-buy! I'm not even a fan of RPG games, but the KotOR series compiles 2 of my favorite games. It's a great game where you definitely see the Star Wars universe, but with completely different characters in which you can customize your own, and choose your own path. It's entirely fun how you can choose either to be on the light side of the force or the dark side. You can customize everything about your character, from what he's wearing, his skills and attributes, and even the aspects of his/her lightsaber. The game is really long, as I spent almost 3 days basically eat, sleep, KotOR-ing, and I still hadn't completed it. You find yourself sucked in extremely easily, and before long, you find yourself saying "just one more level" for about 3 hours straight. All in all, this is an AMAZING game, and I hope they make KotOR III.
BY FAR THE BEST RPG GAME OF ALL TIME!
KOTOR II is simply amazing in every way!!! Even better than the first which i have personally beat over 10 times. Whoever said the phrase -" sequels are never better than the original"...obviously hasn't played this game. Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, has an immense story line that will leave you begging for more. I love this game and i can guarantee the same satisfaction from any gamer that enjoys playing RPG' s. The game-play is incredible...you can do just about anything that your heart desires and more! you can take the path of the Jedi or fall to the Darkside. the choice is yours. pick the character you want, the clothes you wear, the weapons you fight with, and the path that will lead to your destiny. whether it be good or bad. this game is a must have for all SW fans.
im not sure what George Lucas was thinking, marketing star wars to 4 year olds and making everything clone wars and cartoons when he was sitting on a goldmine that is the knights of the old republic series. this game was and its predecessor were phenomenal. the story was grade A and the characters and gameplay were top notch at the time as well and still beats most rpg games to this day. the combat system works but it is outdated, but it works so it's not really a set back as much as it is a simple reminder on exactly how old this game is and characters in this series are interesting and fun just and they are competent companions and combatants as well. you can not only customize yourself but you can customize your companions as well and through dialog and story you can even change thier class and moral outlook on life. but just like the first game your decisions affect not only you but the worlds you go to, the enemies you must fight, and your party members as well. basically this is the standard for a great rpg. if a rpg cant live up to this, it is simply not a great game
The Best Star Wars Game Ever Made
One word to describe this game would be WOW! The story is the rpg story lines made in history. The character customization is very good but the thing is you can't create what his head looks like to what you want you have to use a pre-created head. The challenge is very good I play on easy and still gives me a challenge. Graphics is also good. Controls is amazing but the camera angle sometimes gets in the way. Length is very long i can beat it in about 24 hours total or less but i don't do every sidequest. Storyline is very creative I've played it 8 times and i still find something new every time i play through it. The sound is also great over an hour of songs probably one of the best game soundtracks created. Overall the game is very well created and thought through but they cut out a lot of stuff like planets, missions, etc., but it is still great. I recommend this game to everyone.
it's just sad
it's just sad, not this game but today's game, this game came out before the 360 came out and it is better than most games, give me a copy of this over any call of duty game, not just call of duty, this game beats any other, it is awesome, it has awesome (graphics, sound, gameplay lasting appeal) and this makes it the best, when i got the first KOTOR i was confused by the combat but when you learn how it becomes awesome, taht is the only bad thing i have to say about the KOTOR series, if you are new the cntrols may be confusing
Well, I must say this game is truly amazing. It has great graphics, gameplay, and a solid storyline. I've beaten it myself. It's challenge is very hard. The graphics are amazing because it's very clear. But there are a few bugs which made the game most annoying at times. The game play is well, not perfect, but you still have a lot of movement within the game. Because next thing you know you might be stuck in a wall and well you can see where I'm going, can't you? The storyline is cool. There are a few times when it's like...where did that come in? But the game's storyline is better than the first game. Still like the first game is scary at times this game is most interesting. But the glitches....They could have spent more time on the glitches because sometimes it'll just send you somewhere else. But overall it's a good game. It'll take you about 56 hrs to complete. So get going and buy this game!
Best Star Wars game around
I have to say after beating this and Kotor 1 numerous times that it is one of the best games I have ever played. I have played many rpgs on current tier consoles and this game is still better then those games overall.
It is the ultimate game for a die hard Star Wars fan, I truly cannot understand why anyone would think this game was anything less then amazing.
One of the best star wars games ever made
The first one was good but this one takes the cake!
Keeps You Playing
My hat is off to this spectacular game, Knight of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords (mercifully abbreviated KOTOR2, or, if you want to get technical, KotOR2)! This game surpasses its predecessor, KOTOR1, in game plot (the plot is much deeper and has many more twists, turns, and surprises, I mean we all saw Revan coming didn't we?), music, challenge, and customization. Normally I am very reluctant to buy sequels. Normally people mess up badly by trying to change up the sequel so much that it barely relates to its prequel, or they are so much alike that you could easily live without one of them. KOTOR 2 is just the right balance of nostalgia and differences. You know that it is KOTOR, but it does not simply mirror KOTOR 1. Haven't played KOTOR 1? Don't worry, you can still play KOTOR 2 and have oodles of fun. At the beginning a guy named Atton will give you a primer on what has been hopping in the galaxy. Makes the semi-ending a little less impacting, though. Where to start? I like the character interaction better. You can interact with your teammates a lot more in KOTOR 2 than in KOTOR 1. You can generally ask them more questions, and they added a new element to the game... influence! Now whenever you make a choice you have to truly consider what your party will think of you, instead of just worrying about being scolded by Bastila or Canderous (I find myself being frequently harassed by them in KOTOR 1). They also have new weapons. I love the new Gammorean battle axes, which Mandalore can handle quite well. The new planets are really... plainly put, cool. Especially SPOILER! Malachor. It has a nice, creepy feel to it, especially the academy. This game is a little darker than the first one, an element which I can appreciate. All in all, this is a game which keeps you playing. Between the new planets, the new characters, the character interaction, and the new music (which doesn't get on my nerves as much as KOTOR1 music did), you'll be playing this game over and over again. Oh, did I mention you get great hours out of this game? No, I don't think I did. This game, next to the Zelda's, has given me the most play time. One annoying little detail though.... I have a female character who is about level 34, and because of some glitch I CAN'T GET PAST NAR SHADAA! I have finished the game with a guy called Damon Veck, but he was only a 25 at the end of the game. *Sniff* *sniff*.
