!!!
This game is one of the most interesting games I've played. I like horror games, so naturally I picked this up. But I also like HP Lovecraft, which was a lure all it's own. I like it for how much fun it was to play, as well as for how closely it followed the spirit of Lovecraft's work. It is another atmostpheric game, investigate - become immersed. And as the game moves toward the end, so the action increases. The game contains an insanity meter, which I have never experienced before. Pretty neat. I found it difficult in places, but those same places in the game were also the more exciting places, so that's a good balance. It's not a shooter, you spend a lot of time investigating, and trying not to be noticed, (But that sort of thihg is ok for me, not every game should he a shoot n' scoot) but as I said, as the game progresses, the action comes to the forefront. Because I said "shoot n' scoot" I'll recommend one with this review. Check out Warhammer 40k: Space Marine! Shoot-n-scoot, hack-n-slash to the point of silliness... but it sure is fun! Think Devil May Cry meets Gears of War, with less story than either :-)

An Entirely New Experiance.
This game is very very good. It was a game like I've never played before. Watching Jack Walter's sanity diminish throughout the game, with the screen blurring and heart beating did so much to increase tension at moments. The sound was really good too, very creepy. Did it's job quite well. This game is tough though, it could be very hard to figure out what to do, and you don't get a weapon for awhile. But these things just added on to the experience. The ONLY complaint I have is the checkpoint save system. I could go through a very difficult part of the game only to be killed and sent all the way to my last save point, which was frustrating. But if you can get over that, which I eventually did, I say this game is very good and you probably won't experience something like it again.

Lovecraft would be happy
Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was a truely amazing retelling of Lovecraft's "Shadow Over Innsmouth". CoC is a dark game that is the first game of the horror/survival genre that takes sanity into account. The more your character gets disturbed the more that your sanity diminishes. It presents itself in forms such as hearing things that aren't there, seeing things, and controls will respond differently. Once your last shred of sanity diminshes the game ends with the character commiting suicide or being institutionalized. The game is well known for it's use of no HUD but a realistic damage system. Such as falling from a great hieght could cause a broken leg and you would need a splint to heal the damage. Overall I feel that this is one of the greatest games of all time.
