arguably the best game i ever bought
When i played this game the graphics didn't really appeal to me. It looked like 90's level graphics in a 2005 game. But after playing it the storyline grows on you. You actually get drawn into the game and want more. This is a great game for anyone to play. If it's not on here find it on ebay, amazon, or anywhere you can and play it.
A REAL XBOX GAME THAT DESERVED MORE
I really don't know how anyone could say that this game wasn't good. I just finished playing it and it holds up really well. You get to fly a space ship into a docking bay at a space station. Even better, there are so many shades of Mass Effect and Star Wars in this game. The story is gripping and is nothing like the 1st Halo. It can stand on it's own. And it is deeper than you think. The game was suppose to be a trilogy but I guess we finally got our sci-fi fix with ME. The combat is awesome as the shooting mechanics control like Splinter Cell. You have a 3rd person view but you have the freedom to aim with the right stick and move with the left stick. There are powers that you get in the game which are upgradeable. You also have to make some decisions in the game that you finally see the results in towards the end of the game. It is truly a masterful production and I would really petition for this game to come back. But for anyone that likes a good sci-fi shooter, you couldn't make a better choice. There is some replay value as you can change the decisions that you made the first time through, but the end result still makes you wish that the trilogy was completed. Definitely worth playing
The best game on the original xbox.
I truly loved this game. Your the last human and you go to teach the aliens that destroyed the human race that they missed one. The powers are cool but the story hooked me for sure. The guns are ok but you get to a point that guns really are useless when you are super powered badass. Hope the make another in the recent future!!!!!
Could have been a great game.
Advent Rising was very promising. It had an awesome story, sweet graphics (at the time), and an amazing musical score. The game blended 3rd-person shooting and supernatural powers, sounds cool right? Unfortunately the game mechanics were kind of glitchy. Moving around in the game wasn't very fluid and the aiming system involve too many buttons. Advent Rising could have been a great game.
its summing the game up.
in the game you fight aliens that destroyed the earth. your character has like star wars powers and you use them to destroy the bad aliens and find your place in the universe. the game is perfect for fighters but you will hate the ending.
I miss this game
I know this is quite late but I still have this game since the day it came out. I will go buy a referbished xbox just to play it again. Even though the xbox game graphics cant comapare to 360 the storyline and gameplay of this game is overall amazing. I really love this game. It would have to be my best game of all time. I demand that another company takes over Advent Rising and put it back in production OR fund Majesco Studios since they went bankrupt because they made a very good game and I shed a tear when I found that out. This game is great for all action/shooting gamers and I would love to see a sequel.
A Great Sci-Fi Game
I played this game once at my friends house and was intrigued. So i embarked on an insane quest to find it. Luckily one of the local gamestops had it. My first thought was at the first cutscene, which i might add is beautiful as are all the large ones and a good portion of the smaller ones. Now bad news, there are a few cutscenes that must have been rushed, they have worse animation than the gameplay itself and all the people and aliens walk with their legs in exact synchronicity. During gameplay the graphics are actually quite good the weapons have cool particle effects the special abilities look even better and the character models are pretty good too. The environments for the most part look pretty good. There are a few that could use a little more color or variety instead of just a bland city scape, but hey, it's what humans build. The story line is really quite interesting and yet quite cliche. Aliens attack blah blah blah, yada yada yada. You know the deal. There are a few twists and turns along the way including a few choices between your lover and your brother which affect the storys progression. Thee biggest disappointment is the fact that it was designed to be a trilogy yet due to low sales the sequel got scraped. It's a major bummer too there was alot they could have done with it. Advent Rising has this funky auto target system. At first its a beast but once you play for a little while it gets pretty natural. If you don't use the flick targeting you shoot at two random enemies. This game relies heavily on dual wielding and lets you double up with every and any gun in the game. Sounds cheap but once you see some of the things your up against you'll know why. The game also includes skill upgrades for powers and weapons. Yes I said powers. About halfway through you gain some special abilities ranging from levitation to ice missiles and slow time. Even with this massive arsenal the game still presents a decent challenge. The sound is good in the sense everything fits. It doesn't cut out randomly or anything and it doesn't lag. The dialogue is actually very good with a few funny lines thrown in here and there. The music on the other hand just seems to blend in. It's not memorable at all. But it doesn't break the game. The game is in essence a playable comic book. Don't pick it up thinking its a serious military game or something (how could you the cover even shows screen shots). If your into Sci-Fi movies or games pick it up. My only major issue with it was that it left me wanting more, yet the sequels got shot down.
