Rated 0 out of 10 by ravenmyste If you played Resident Evil
Then this is the game for you, and i mean Shinji Mikami made the Resident evil series game what it was up to 4, but doesn't include 5-6, what was it before capcom butchered the series..
also about the game i been following the dev comments about everything, he built the game with a modified engine of his choice to make enhance the atmosphere of the game, and its been criticized that it doesnt look like next gen engine.. he chooses to make the game what he wanted and how he wanted it to feel and look to the player.. so don't let something like graphics and resolution turn you from this game... because you will make a mistake listening to people that don't know that the dev chooses to go this way with the game.
i hope this games sells a lot because, i really do miss Shinji Mikami style of gameplay, story and hope that beth doesn't go and make a capcom choice and ruin the series....
if there is a future in this IP for a series its should be in the hands of Shinji Mikami to make the series great
Rated 10 out of 10 by gpmary best horror game i played this year
This game is worth every dime! not a single dull moment.. I found myself screaming ,running and omg dying over countless times before I actually could kill the first boss. im still stuck on chapter 7 but I will play this game again even when I make it to the end... monsters come from out of nowhere, to hiding in bushes and ambushing you in a split second... the one thing you must really pay attention to is ammo and health, cause the wired-box head boss is no joke, and they come when you least expect it ...Relentless killing and no mercy
kills are just superb,,, once you start playing this game, you will die more times than you can count unless you are a good experienced shooter, but it just sucks you in and you cant stop playing!!!!! the more I died ,the more it made me eager to play more just to get to the next chapter!!! tango and xboxone ,high five on this one ...,,,excellent game
Rated 5 out of 10 by Grimgas Amazing look and sound with poor controls.
This game looks and sounds great. I played TEW on it's easiest mode. Why you ask? Because there's no southpaw control option for the 3rd person in this game. I can overlook this in most cases if there is an auto aim, which this game does. What I can't overlook is having the controls not responding. Here's an example: Pressing RB to hide in locker, head gets chopped off while pounding on RB. Getting killed repeatedly can't be justified by junk controls. I love Resident Evil 1-5. This is no RE game. This last part is a rant. As mentioned before I have been willing to overlook the lack of southpaw controls but not anymore. 1st and 3rd person games need to have control options for left handed people period.
Rated 8 out of 10 by dogfart Awesome. But too Keanu about his current situation
Graphics are awesome, controls aren't that bad. I would like the (RB) crouch to be toggled on/off, only because in some cases I get wore out on holding the RB to crouch. Not that big a deal. Overall the game is awesome. Im currently on Chapter 7. Regarding the story, I have no idea whats happening. I kill some weird bloody things, solve a few puzzles, run out of ammo, chase some scarred up hooded dude and get chased by some weird things. Thats all I can say about the story. But so far the game is pretty cool. Graphics and gameplay keep you entertained and keep you locked in. Really the only real complain, (other than that RB nonsense), is that the voiceovers don't sound legit according to their part within the cinema/story. All this bad, sadistic, weird, and bloody stuff going on and your dudes just real Keanu about it. Woah. F-word (very subtle and nonchalant). With no emphasis on how bad this weird situation is with this screaming spider lady chasing you. I just feel like if I was in any of this guys situations, I'd be cursing and screaming a lot more, sounding way more convincing and serious than this guy. Dudes too chill. You have no ammo, no idea whats going on, and theres some rabid, huge, and nasty dog thing trying to eat you. I feel sure any person would be terrified and willing to express that. I really just feel his voice part is played way down with his current situation. I dont know..
Rated 9 out of 10 by gogio Survival Horror on the Next-Gen
The Evil Within is a beautifully designed game that will keep you at the edge of your seat and have your heart sink here and there. I don't understand why some of these reviewers are hating so much on the game. The graphics don't really bother me because this isn't a game that needs to focus so much on graphics but rather on the gameplay. The game does have one to many cutscenes on the first couple of chapters but the cutscenes begin to fade away as you progress. Other then that, I love how difficult this game can be at times like when you're having to run or fight for your life while having only two bullets left in your weapon and having a horde of monsters attacking you. Overall, the game is difficult and some may not like the challenge but this is truly Survival horror at its finest.
Rated 1 out of 10 by Gannicus Nice graphics, poor gameplay
I had been looking forward to this title and was definitely disappointed in the gameplay. Graphics are fine, story is fine, gameplay is terrible. Something as simple as making a map or minimap available would have made navigation more effective. It is easy to get lost and confused while exploring many areas and there are no helpful waypoints either. They give you an objective, and you wonder around aimlessly until you accidently find what you need to continue on. Even with upgrades, combat can be difficult as it takes quite a bit to kill regular enemies, none the less bosses. You guys ever heard of a dodge button? Not in this game! I would not recommend this game to anyone, and I have never said that about a game as I always get at least some sort of enjoyment out of all types of games.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Higuide everything you love and were afraid about RE 4
its basically RE 4 & was the last game Shinji Mikami (original creator of RE until RE 4). keep in mind this is by him if you liked RE 4 loooove this game. loved every gruesome flawless detail. my only complaint its not that scary for hardcore gamer like me swiftly can beat any game on hardest on the first playthrough especially survival horror lights-off w/ turtle beach (eventually became fearless)! w/ my gaming history, blunts the rich experience it has to offer... most terrifying for anyone that is unspoiled, without fortitude or decorated gaming history, as well as generally new to the survival horror genre. even without fear (i dearly miss having) its a great game is a must play
Rated 9 out of 10 by Sickgamer33 Gimme Green Gel Injections!
Initially I didn't think very highly of the game because the graphics weren't that great and the reticle aim seemed to be a bit off but that is because I didn't understand how the game tries to be realistic to a certain degree. It also starts off very slow, so you must be patient. However, once things start to pick up around chapter 4 or 5 you will be hooked. I am a huge fan of the Resident Evil series as well as Dead Space and this game is definitely up there with the greats. Bethesda did a great job with the horrific creatures and the nightmarish onslaught of never ending Jason-mask toting, glowing eyed freaks. The story is also incredible and it will ave you on edge without a doubt. Definitely worth $60.00!!!

THIS GAME IS TOO HARD. I CANT EVEN GET PASSES THE THIRD CHAPTER. LIKE WHAT. GOOD JOB FOR MAKING THIS GAME IMPOSSIBLE
Rated 10 out of 10 by PeterKool A modern masterpiece
This game brings back something that seems very rare in recent games... challenge! There are constant moments where you have to stop and think about your actions and what the results will be. Ammo can be very scarce if you are unwise with the tactical decisions you WILL face around several corners in each level. You can run and gun your way through some areas without a problem.... until you run out of ammo and an enemy decides that they don't want to be dead just yet. The game has a tone very similar to Silent Hill, which makes the experience that much better. I am very pleased with the game's length (17+ hours), variety of levels, creature and character design, as well as its overall addictive game-play.
