Rated 9 out of 10 by Porkshak So much fun
This game is awesome. The gameplay is great. Everytime things start to seem a little repetitive, the game throws you a curveball. This game shatters the fourth wall in a hilarious way. Overall an awesome game

Rated 9 out of 10 by SharkBitten Rad is Rad! love this game!!!!
This game is rad! The graphics are colorful, amazing and a bit cartoonish but, the game play will have you playing for a very long time...The map is huge! The mutants are over abundant, so many you can't kill them all!! The game is fast paced but also has a slow motion feature that allows the player to aim at mutants better...It has a Sonic, Mario cart, GTA5 type feel to it...Since it's open world, makes playing much more enjoyable! So far this is my favorite game for my new XB1...

Rated 8 out of 10 by DarkPaladin Great game, just too short
Well, it's been a while since I've played a game all the way through. That's both a pro and a con on this game. On one hand if you play only the main missions (no side missions, no side quests, no collectables, etc) this game is maybe 10 hours long... Not long right. Still longer then most FPS campaigns. Comparable to the length of Fable III, Saints row III, etc (if you don't do side stuff). The pro to this comment, is that I was entertained 100% of the time. I used to be big into video games, but the past year or so I'm extremely picky about them. The only games to have really grabbed my attention in the last few years have been Skyrim, Battlefield 3 (&4), Minecraft, and this. Most other games I play for an hour, maybe two, then I'm done. So for a game to grasp my attention this much, is a big deal, for me at least.
Now lets go through the details of the game. Think Saints Row III's humour and sheer insanity gameplay, Meets crackdowns abilities/factions/freaks, meets a skater game (tony hawk?). At first, the grinding, bouncing, etc seems like a real challenge, but after an hour or so you will master it. Like crackdown there is a lot of things to collect around the city that can increase your skills. The amount of guns in the game is desent. I'd say 20-30. The thing is that every single gun is significantly different. One shoots a teddy that bounces then blows up (essential grenade launcher effect) another shoots a sprinkler that sprinkles acid that kills in the area of effect, there is magnum that does high amount of damage to a single target, another shoots a rocket that upon impact blows up into several smaller rockets, etc etc. Also you can add weapon amps to each of these. "chance to make targets catch fire, chance to drop more money, chance to refil ammo, chance to make targets explode hurting more targets" etc. The level up system is very different. It's not the basic Level 1 and goes up from there. You level your amps. And you can choose six player amps. These effect how much you damage one specific enemy, how fast you charge your "style", how much money and experience you get, how much ammo you carry, etc etc. You can also level up each of these by "badges" which you get from killing things. Example killing robots gives you more robot badges, melee kills=melee badges, etc.
This game has a "style" system. The style system works like this. You have 1-4 style levels. The more kills, tricks, combos, etc that you do, the more it fills up. The higher your style, the deadlier you are. On level 4, you get to use your "epic" This can range from lightning bolts that damage and stun nearby enemies. Another when you hit the ground you make a nuclear explosions. etc.
Hands down the best thing about this game, is the sheer variety. It's not just "clear out an area" or "kill x amount of things" or "defend something for x amount of time" like 99% of games out there. Even the almighty Elder Scrolls, hands down my favorite game series of all times, is a victim to this game type. Most of Skyrim was "clear out a dungeon/camp/etc". On one hand since this game is so short, I don't want to go over a lot and give it all away. But a handful of examples. Some missions you do are "base defense for x amount of time". Set up traps, protect the "vats", win. Another mission you are fighting a giant hot air balloon shaped like the Fizco teddy... thing... Another you are towing a boat through a canal via some harpoons. Etc. The sheer variety helps this game a ton.
The second best thing is the entertainment. They break the "third wall" a lot. Incase you aren't familiar the "third wall" refers to addressing the audience. For example if you sit still they say "hey player, don't you think we should do such n such?" Or when a guy says "haha you have guns?" instead of showing them the ingame gun, it shows them your weapons wheel you select from but the character wouldn't see. Even dying is entertaining. Odd right? You have variety of revives. One time you die, and you respawn via a portal. Another, you come out of a coffin. Another you jump in, turn around, and punch the camera so it zooms out. Etc etc. They also do a lot of derail quotes and copies. One example "we're gonna need a bigger... uhhh, ship!" etc.
Two biggest draw backs of this game are one, the short length of the game. Second, is the co op. The co op mode is basically a challenge mode, but you are basically in the full game world, just limited to areas and have to go area to area per challenge. The sad thing is from a programming stand point, it wouldn't have taken much more to let players just freemode on co op. Even if it's not missions together, games like this make you really want to do challenges, exploring, racing around the town, killing random things together.
Anyways about the co op mode, you basically fight through 4 challenges with up to 8 players, and these 4 challenges give you more "chaos" The chaos applies to the 5th challenge which is a base defense mode. The more chaos means more enemies, higher challenge, but higher reward. The worst thing is that the 4/5 challenges you can do with 2 people or more. However the night defense, even if you build only a little bit of "chaos", it is impossible to do with two people, even those with a lot of high end weapons and amps (abilities). Reason being is there are 4 sides of the base to defend, and a LOT of enemies. two people can't be in 4 places at once, and they come through way too quickly. Not only that but even if you have 4 players, you still typically need another one or two to kill aerial enemies. This means either you have several friends, with this game, that you can all coordinate work/sleep/family schedules to play together. Or, you have to play with random people. The issue with random people is you usually get two or three players that are such a high level, that you literally get almost no kills. Even if you are a decent level, they drop nukes that clear the entire map of enemies, every few seconds. On one hand yes it's a team effort, and you would think "don't i just want to complete the entire session?" wrong. The point is to earn as many personal points as possible. The more points you reward, the higher your reward. Example. if you earn 5000 points, you don't get squat diddly. If you earn 50,000,000 points, you make bank. Pretty hard to do when one or two guys are taking all the kills. Even if you are a high end level (i.e. one of these guys taking all the kills), there aren't really enough enemies for everyone. If you had 8 players all max level getting equal amounts of kills, you would each get maybe 8,000,000 points. They really should have made it so that the amount of enemies changes based on how many players there are. I.E. x8 players, equals x8 enemies.
So what's my bottom line with this game.
Pro's
Very fun
Very amusing
Fast pased
Lot of variety
Cool graphics scheme
Con's
Too short, and as fun as it is, the game fly's by even faster then it seems.
Co op only for those with several friends all on the same schedule to play with.
Ultimately, I would recommend waiting on the price of this game. I'd say this game is worth more like 40$, because of how short it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, Most games this length I wouldn't even pay 20$ for, but because of how fun this is, I think 40$ is fair. That, or you can buy it ASAP (while it's still new) then trade it in for 25$ while you can. (keep in mind it's usually about a month after a release that a game drops in trade-in value.)
