NBA Live 14
Not as bad as people say
Let me start off by saying people are being very judgmental about the game, while i will admit having played both 2k is much smoother and more fluid of a game but when it comes to NBA live they havent made a game in 4 years. With this game it is deff worth taking a look at for those fans who want to play b ball with all the lebron craze, especially at 9.99. the games dribbling is top notch and graphics, player animations such as going for a block are very flawed but overall it is a pretty solid game and fun to play once you learn the controls. I give it a 7/10 cause it is keeping me entertained but does need some improvments in the next installment.
Mediocre, but at $20 new it's fine.
To start, NBA Live 14 is not as bad as all the reviews say. If you try and compare it to NBA 2K15, then yes 2K definitely looks better. However, when factoring in how cheap this game is, the various game modes (e.g. Ultimate Team) and the fantastic soundtrack, then you'll see that this game isn't THAT bad. Being a FIFA player, I hadn't played basketball games in years, so when I had 2K15 I quickly grew tired of it. However, being that NBA Live was so cheap, I have spent more time learning how to play the game, run sets, etc. and it's pretty good. Would I buy it if it cost more than ~$30? Probably not. But, since it is so cheap, it'd be a decent pickup if you're looking for a basketball game. By the way, I have this game for the Xbox One.
NBA Live 14
Now, the NBA Live 14 graphics may not be as good at NBA 2k14's, but this game has more of a arcade feel more than a realistic feel. Now I am going to be honest. I only got this game because of the ultimate team but if you look past the graphics and some bad animations, it is a pretty fun game. So my advice is to get this game only if you are looking for having a good time playing a rage-free NBA game.
Worst sports game EVER
This game is just terrible. DON'T waste your money on it. Unrealistic gameplay. I traded this in after 4 hours. If you want to play a basketball game, go buy 2K. I see why EA hasn't made a b-ball game for a few years...
Not as bad as they say, but not great either...
First off, I must say that I do not like 2K sports versions of basketball. While graphically they rock, the gameplay only seems to want big plays and in your face gameplay, rather than actual basketball. With that said, NBA Live doesn't come near the graphical appearance of 2K, but I will put my neck out on this one and say that game play (while flawed) is more enjoyable. With Live, you actually play basketball, rather than just run and gun and get the stars the big plays. I was so upset with 2K when I took a shot with James and he went into an automated sequence from the foul line to do a dunk when all I wanted was a jump shot. Live is far from perfect, it's got some definite room to grow graphically, but has a little more room to grow in the control area. When you first pass the ball in, your guy will do a weird dance and go the wrong way unless you press your turbo button (you get used to this really quick), each player shoots his free throws in his own way, and there's no marker to tell you when to shoot for that player, so much of it is either guess work, or look up that player and watch videos on him. I actually REALLY want them to fix the bad things because this IS a good game. It's got problems, but even with those, I'll take it over 2Ks game. Please, EA, don't give up on this game, and improve for next year.... PLEASE!!!!
was this for real?
when i played this game i thought i was gettin "PUNK'D" by ashten kutcher.. The WORSSSTTT sports game i ever played in my entire life!.. i seen better game on sega and nitendo.. idk how nba live even got the ok to sell this game.. idk what else to say but dont buy this game, even if its for free dont take it. ull waste precious life for downfall. i played it for a day and honestly i snapped the game in half, didnt even bring it back to gamestop.. i dont want the next person to suffer! thanks
Well first off nba live 14 does NOT Suck! Its actually good. As far as gameplay it could be a tad bit cleaner but its a huge improvement from recent games and still enjoyable. The game modes, commentary and ball handling are pretty neat as well. If your a 2k fan its best compared to 2k11 where the games were fun and fast paste. I find as 2k games advanced they have gotten slower (i still love them). So Its nice to see another games on the market that brings different qualities. I think the only reason this games was so hardly rated was because people has gotten so use to 2k its different. Its The Call Of Duty/Battlefield over again. Regardless, Live 14 is fun and if your and NBA Fan BUY IT!!!
Just A Complete Waste Of Money
I had this game for literally 2 hours and took it back to gamestop. It is just horrible. I figured I would give it a chance over NBA 2k14, well I was completely wrong for doing that. The graphics are the best part of the game other than that the game is completely horrible. If your playing with created player or whatever you just stand in one spot and the offense does nothing besides the PG holds the ball until the shot clock runs out. The gameplay is just complete trash everything about the game is awful. Will never buy another Live game until they start doing better things. NBA 2k14 is 1000000 times better!
The hate is unexpected! And I play 2k....
Now I am a 2k fan. I have always been a basketball fan and gamer, and the past 5 years I have really gone with 2k, pretty much since 2k8. Now NBA Live 10, their last official release, was actually a decent game, just more arcade-ish than the 2k SIM like atmosphere. _ -NBA Live 14 is not as bad as people are making it out to be, especially with the newest update that really revamped the games polish, gameplay, interface, and more importantly their ability to update constantly without hurting gameplay. Notice that 2K is a great game but ALWAYS, I mean ALWAYS struggles with their online games and modes and serves each year, sometimes never truly fixing it. It's like you expect at least 2-3 months till they might get the online gaming right for 2k, while EA online features are flawless. - -People must realize this is their first NBA/basketball game released in almost 5 full years, and on a new next gen console OS as well. The game has great modes, Rising Star (like My Career), Ultimate Team (like My Team), and all that 2k has but way more. I really love the challenges and association. But I also love the new controls, they are definitely heading in the right direction. I just consider this a raw piece of what's to come from EA. They sorta copied 2k, but I don't mind, as they finally have gotten the defense to work, the dribbling controls to be smooth, the animations are usually solid, and it's not as easy to score at will like many EA NBA Live's were. Considering they finally have the game engine for a SIM game, I honestly think EA is going to challenge 2K next year (well this year, OCT/NOV 2014) for the 2015 game releases. 2K has the chance to also redeem itself, but I just noticed many people rating this have barely played it or even tried to learn the controls. Once you do, you will be really surprised at how well the game plays, especially on defense. Plus it works online. What a crazy thing! - -Live 14 has actually stepped up (especially with March's nice update to the overall game). If you haven't played it, try the "New Demo" they released that incorporates all the new patch into it. It feels like a far different game. While the game modes don't have the "depth" of 2k, the game is far from unplayable, and I really enjoy it at my place with friends. It's not great, but it's a big step in the right direction.
DONT GET THIS
2k14 is sooooo much better..... NBA LIVE sucks considering that EA had 4 years of work into it. The announcers are really boring, nobody can find a match on ultimate team, graphics stink, shots and mechanics are weird.... It may be a good game for a 5 year old because its cheaper, but i would not suggest getting it
