It's About to Get Real

Guitar Hero® Live is here. FreeStyleGames have reinvented the legendary Guitar Hero franchise, with two innovative new gameplay modes and an all-new guitar controller.

GH Live mode puts you onstage, looking out: you get a heart-stopping first-person perspective as a real crowd reacts to the notes you play. Or switch over to GHTV - a playable music video network, where you can play along in real time, discover new music, and challenge friends around the world.

YOU are the rock star
Playing music in front of a real crowd is like no other experience. With the new GH Live first-person view, YOU'LL take center stage like never before.

Feel the rush of performing in a REAL band, in front of REAL crowds who react in REAL time to your performance. You'll either win the crowd or lose them. Plus, your band mates will also let you know if you're rocking out or need to pick it up. Fight the stage fright and bring down the house.

Awesome music, epic venues
In GH Live, you'll take the stage in a variety of venues. Experience it all from the intimacy of a small club or the main stage of a massive outdoor festival.

GHTV is a continuous broadcast of music videos where you and your guitar controller are the star. Hundreds of videos will be available at launch spanning all different genres of music, with new videos continually added to the line-up. You'll be able to discover and play new songs all the time.

PLAY WHAT YOU WANT - Turning on GHTV is similar to turning on your regular TV. Pick a channel and dive right in. Don't like what's on? Just switch over to another channel and play a new song. You'll earn in-game currency in GHTV that you can use to play songs on demand or to acquire a ton of different items in the game like custom note highways, playercards and more.

ROCK WITH YOUR FRIENDS - GHTV makes it more fun to play with your friends than ever. While one person is playing, everyone else can watch the videos. Plus, GHTV delivers exciting competition, no matter your skill level. Compete in your living room or online with people from all over the world, playing at similar progression levels and difficulty as you. Check out the leaderboards to see how you stack up against fellow rock stars around the world.

LEVEL UP AND EARN REWARDS - Level up to unlock more content and achieve Hero status. Along the way you'll earn the use of new Hero Powers and you can level up your guitar. Hero Powers, similar to Star Power back in the day, can be used to gain a competitive edge and achieve new high scores.

PREMIUM CONTENT - Premium Shows include anything from new music videos in GHTV to live concert footage that you can play along to. Get access to this content by leveling up and completing challenges, or use real currency to play instantly.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR EXPERIENCE - In GHTV you will have access to unique personalization items. Customize your note highway and playercard to show off your style.

New Controller Features

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing game, somewhat unreliable guitar. The game, in itself, is great. Visuals make it look as if you're really there, playing for the fans below. Gameplay takes a little while to master, if you're just coming back to the GH games after a long break. It is easy to learn, & my break lasted for about 6 to 7 years. You get to choose between two different venues, one in the US, & another in the UK. The US venue features 8 stages, while the UK features 6, I believe. The story isn't linear, thus allowing you to choose which stage you want. Some are locked, however, requiring you to complete a number of sets or stages before it can be finally unlocked. Just going to say that the ending for the UK venue is a bit more exciting than the US', though, so don't expect much from the first. Onto the guitar controller... I had to return the first that my game came with, due to the first black button sticking down & into the controller. What this did, was keep that note shown on the screen, fooling the game into thinking that I wanted to play that specific note when I did not. It messed up note streaks & made me wonder why I paid $70 for it. For the price, the guitar controllers should've been thoroughly looked at. It's quite a big deal with games that have accessories like these, as you really would like for the first buy to be the LAST buy. Alas, I went back to GS to return the whole thing, game & all, just to replace the guitar. That is what you must do, unfortunately. I'm playing on my second guitar controller, but now the strum bar won't stop squeaking, & I haven't had this guitar controller for 3 months. I'll replace it one last time, but after that, I think I may just deal with what I have. It shouldn't be our job as gamers to ensure that everything is in tip-top shape. Hopefully, this won't be an issue with the next Guitar Hero game that releases. On a side note, you can not record or take screenshots with this game. If you try to, a notification will pop up saying that it's been disabled for that game. You can stream it, but only if you have a capture card. Snapping Twitch & hitting Broadcast won't do it. I'm sure it has something to do with copyright, saving the bands money. Do what you will with your money, towards this game. I highly suggest that you think about it first, however.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shortest game ever. crappiest controller ever. I beat the main story line in a matter of hours which is rather disappointing. The notes or chords as they show up on the TV are for me very hard to tell the difference when playing a song that has a lot of upper and lower changes in it. like seriously black and white for color difference in upper and lower notes with a slightly rounded guitar pick looking indicator is just terrible. Visually the background graphics are amazing. They just could have done a better job with the guitar bridge/notes/chords/bars visualization. The online play is just microtransaction city. After you run out of play you can use in game currency to buy more or you can use real money to buy more. The controller is the worst thing in the world. the double button (upper/lower) are the worst built buttons ever. I went through 2 guitar controllers in 1 day because the press/rebound of the buttons is so terrible that the buttons start getting sticky and sometimes get stuck in the down position causing you to miss notes and chords. the fact that they tried to make the guitar play more "realistic" is fine but they seriously could have gone a different way about making the controller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love It! I am loving this game! I am not a hardcore gamer, and really only played the old guitar hero a few times. This version has me hooked. I am not going to lie and say it feels totally like playing a real guitar, but definitely feels more realistic than the previous version. I am also extremely suprised how much fun it is to play on GHTV. I almost skipped buying the game because I did not think I would like playing through GHTV. But much to my suprise it's a ton of fun and I have a hard time putting the guitar down. This game really is addicting, and hope that the GHTV library continues to grow as I can see playing this game for a long long time!
