Call of Duty: Ghosts Onslaught Map Pack
This DLC is a bit underwhelming. This may have to do with the fact that I'm not a big fan of Ghosts, but judging based on DLC's for older CoDs that I have bought, the maps in this just are not very good. The remake of Scrapyard from MW2 isn't bad, but I'm honestly not a huge fan of the underground tunnel, and the plane crashing. The small scale, scripted destruction in this game was a desperate marketing ploy in order to say that Battlefield isn't the only FPS with destruction. The only thing I like about these maps is that they do seem a little bit smaller than the maps that came with the game. The gun is cool if it fits your play style, but I'm more of an SMG guy than an assault rifle or sniper guy. Personally, I would not recommend this DLC, but then again, I wouldn't recommend Ghosts as a whole to anyone either.
NOT A BAD START
Even though call of duty ghosts had kind of a rough start for me, this map pack is a pretty good purchase. Fog is a dark and depressing map that is a lot larger than you expect. there is a central house in the middle of the map that people like to camp and set up in. the bottom floor is where most of the action takes place. there are two ways people can come in, the back door and the front door it can get pretty hectic. there is also a cave area that is a high traffic area with a instant kill fall. the field order is Michael Myers. he is basically a revamped maniac with an axe. Bayview is an ocean side map with lots of high areas and close quarter engagements. one of the unique parts of the map is the trolley in the middle of the map. this is the main area people sit in and camp. the field order brings in a mortar strike and it blows up the fishtanks. Containment is a pretty long range map with a nuclear warhead in the middle of the map that interferes with radar. rooftops are able to be accessed near the warhead and it is definitely the main area of the map. other buildings scatter the map including two breachable points to take out people on the rooftops. the field order for this map is my favorite. a mortar strike comes in and destroys the warhead causing a part of the bridge to collapse. this causes new routes to open bringing in a unique experience. Ignition is my favorite of the maps on offer. this is a remake of the fan favorite scrapyard from MW2. it is completely identical and brings back memories. the only issue I have is the room near the A flag (don't quote me) is way darker and is hard to see people. the field order is a rocket launching and the fire from the massive exhaust floods the entire bottom section of a tunnel and if you don't get out in time your dead. The maverick assault rifle/sniper is a great weapon in both categories. the AR variant have the best iron sights in the game, it has moderate recoil and is fun to use. the sniper variant comes with a sniper/tracker sight combo default scope. when zoomed in, all enemies will be highlighted. quickscoping can be a bit tough but its simple enough. so overall onslaught is pretty good and if you like DLC then it does well
As far as dlc, a good move
I know the wolf skin was bad, but that wasn't really much of a dlc anyway. This maverick is a super cool gun. As far as assault rifles, i prefer the sc-2010, and then a good shotgun and pistol for close to medium range. I actually like the sniper part better than the assault rifle. If you are looking for something more compact that is adjustable, try devastation. The new locations are good, especially fog. I recommend it for those who are big on the multiplayer and are looking for a good sniper weapon.
