Rated 3 out of 5 by from Awesome in the beggining I bought this product over 5-6 months ago, and at the beginning these things were awesome! But as time went on, they started to get worse and worse. About a month ago. I started to notice that whenever i would play BF1, i would get a really annoying static in the headset, I thought that this was only a temporary thing. But as I kept playing my games, it got worse and worse. It started to happen in about half of the games that I play. The static would make the audio almost not hearable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent budget headset. I have tried my fair share of gaming headsets, and have figured out some of the pros and cons with them. This is all speculation, and personal opinion mind you, so take this review with a grain of salt. As everyone knows, if you want a premium quality headset, you will be paying out the wazoo for products like Astro, or top tier Turtle Beach. However, not every gamer has the bank account to spare such money. I have had TBs, Trittons, Afterglows, and even a secondhand set of Astros. These all have had great performance, but way too many downsides for my liking. Turtle Beaches seem to have great audio quality, and presets that you cant tweak to your specifics, but they tend to not last long physically if you live in a home with kids. Trittions are built to last, but the sound quality is lacking, and the microphone is meh at best. Afterglow is a mixed bag; you buy the cheaper sets, they fall apart out of the box, but the expensive ones work ok for a bit, then fall apart piece by piece, lasting until you can manage to get another headset. Astros are phenomenal, but the pricetag is ridiculous, and in order to get ANY ctrue use out of them, you need to invest in a mixamp, which will set you back another 20-60 bucks. Then we come to plantronics's very own Rig 500HX. While not the best headset around, this is a worthy contender. Let me start of by saying this is literally a plug and play set. No extra cords, or accessories to hook up, just plug it into the controller and go. The store I went to had a set the manager had at the counter for people to try on if they were interested, and I was shocked by the almost non-existent wight of them. lighter than air, and extremely comfortable. He also showed me how the modular aspect works, and you are easily able to replace any of the parts that fall apart, from the frame, all the way down to the ear foam (the only thing you can't replace are the speakers). Not to mention, you can go to their website, and get many different designs and colors fro the frame at a cheap price point. The audio quality is great, and the mic could be a little better, but I have had minimal issue with them so far after a few months use. The durability is beyond expectations. My kids have gotten ahold of these things and dragged them around the house more times than I'd like to admit, but they have no signs of wear and tear. If they get too rough, the frame pops off, and they are pulling the earpieces around, which are made from very strong plastic, and the foam slides on/off with ease. So once they leave it alone, I pick everything up, slap it all back together, and they work just like they did the day I bought them. The only downside most people have is that there is no volume control built in. Well, that's why you can use either the headset adapter, or the built in volume controls in the Xbox itself. All in all, this headset is an easy recommend for anyone. Very durable, and will last a liftime, so you can use these while you save up for a much better set, like Astros.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from pretty good I have never bought a head set for gaming, so i didn't really know what to expect, but i have to say that i am very impressed so far, the head set is very light weight, speakers appear to be responsive to music as far as bass and treble, Don't expect them to have bass like the higher end one's but for the price they work really well, you can hear your teams, and they can hear you through your mic which i was anxious to test out being that it appears to sit away from your mouth a little farther then most would like. over all i would say if you just want a head set for gaming and listening to stuff on you tube, this is a great set.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DOOOOOOOOOOPE I have been using them for like, five months and they have not worn at all. There are no stupid cords involved either. its simple, all you do is plug it in to the adapter and you get game and chat sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Built for comfort, not performance This headset is super lightweight, you walmost can't even feel it on your head when wearing it which makes it great for long gaming sessions. The sound is pretty decent but the ear cups.....they claim they're sound proof but they aren't at all. I can still hear everything around me and I'm almost pretty sure someone sitting beside me would be able to hear everything coming through my headset. I didn't get a chance to try out the chat performance but I'm sure it couldn't have been too great. I do not recommend this product for any intermediate or higher gamer as its built for comfort and not performance. But it is highly recommended for someone looking to join the stereo headset owners association. It's cheap, and not too advanced so its easy to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Unexpected excellence I had never heard of the RIG headsets. I was checking out several headsets and for some reason these jumped out at me. nobody in the store had any info on them or had ever used them. These were only $59 and the headset I wanted was $80. I figured I would try these out. well I got them home and opened the box. I was shocked. You have to put them together. I did not realize they are modular and interchangeable with other parts. That is a plus in my book. There are several spots for the ear cups to adjust the size. The sound quality is completely amazing. to top it off they have a noise cancelling mic. so you can use them with your phone and the other person can hear you clearly. I would diffidently recommend these.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too much Downside The headset has too many downsides for the money. The ear cups are made from some jersey like material that is scratchy and feels like annoying wool socks. There is NO VOLUME CONTROL which is just ridiculous because if you are playing in game and trying to talk you can't hear what anyone is saying. Finally the strap on the top of the headset is too thin and is uncomfortable after 10 min. It does have a cool design that allows sound in from around you so you can still hear whats going on around the house (if you like that). I will be returning mine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Headset Ever There is no volume control. The mute function is terrible. There is a ton of echo/feedback. Everyone coming through the headset sounds like they are whispering.
