Rated 3 out of 5 by from Meh at best I got it because i heard nothing but good things about it and my friend recommended it to me. it is set up easily and has great sound and a good enough of a range, doesn't go through the whole house, but that range isnt needed. when i got it, the chat went out on what seems like a timer where you have to mute and unmute yourself using the mute button on the mic to fix it, i could live with it, but i wanted to make sure it wasn't a defect, so returned it and got a new one, it did the same thing. then about 2 months later, it started making the screeching "beeeeeeep" sound on my end or everyone else's end randomly for no reason. then the right ear piece broke, so i needed to put a clip on it to use it. (i took the best care with it that i possibly could. when not using it, i would put it on a headset hanger and place it down carefully and everything) then just earlier today which it about 3-5 months at best after buying it, the other ear piece broke and i would rather not play like that. i would not recommend it for the price they ask with how flimsy it is.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice headphones but low max volume and more. Nice set of headphones but I didn't feel like there was anything premium about them except the price. Fit, finish, and sound were comparable with other headsets costing $60 and up. At least the 800x have a charging stand and a premium look and feel. At max volume on some settings they were barely loud enough and not loud enough if you have other noise in the room or house which comes through. This is in part to there not being very much noise canceling along with a lower max volume output. Comfortable after a week of use and break in. The cloth ear cups aren't as hot as the vinyl or leather types like on the 800x or Clouds. This may also lead to the lower noise cancelling effect over both of those To set up the most recent firmware or update the sound settings both the headphones and transmitter must be connected to your PC while you use the TB Audio Hub program. Don't even worry about joining their audio hub as a member to get user defined download settings. There are barely any to get, they rate very poorly, and are mostly from 2013. As others have mentioned there is only a set of beeps to the 1 of 4 audio settings in the 1 of 4 modes so you may need to keep a note of what is where If you load multiple game settings. You will have to overwrite some of the movie or music settings too if you want more than 3 game profiles loaded at a time as you only get 3 settings per mode since you can't overwrite their 'signature sound' in any of the 4 modes. The chat volume will actually lower your parties chat along with game chat which is nice as the 420x chat volume will only lower your parties chat, not the other people in the game. I started having static and signal connection issues within a month which are fixed with a new bind/pairing even though I'm usually only 10' from the TX. To pair is easy enough, just push a button on the TX and then the headphones. All in all not a bad set of headphones but I found it hard to justify them as there is nothing that stands out or is noteworthy. I know the ability to load custom settings is supposed to make them standout but after trying several from COD, Battlefield, Mordor, etc. they didn't really standout at all. To compare to the newer TB, the 420x are louder and sound just about as good. Plus the 420x have the voice telling you which setting you are on like the 800x, even though there are only 4, but still no note taking to remember what game is what beep in what mode. The 500x have a little better sound imaging vs the 420x due to the 7.1 surround but that depends on the game. In COD and similar the sound imaging is in the game audio and I didn't have an easier time knowing where the action or people were. This is the case in most headsets I've tried stereo vs surround. I would recommend them if they're what you want. I like them but was not blown away by anything about them.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worst Turtle Beach Headset I've Owned Yet Short and sweet - First day I had the headset and I experienced minor problems. First, when you start up the Xbox and join a party, my friends would text me saying they couldn't hear me. (Everything was plugged in correctly and paired.) I would unplug the headset again and have to press the mute/unmute button multiple times for them to hear me. Second, the mic has some kind of chat shut off that if it is not being used, it shuts the mic off. I was playing Forza 6 and before I could complete two laps, (I was not talking, but I had sound coming through my headset from the engine and sound effects, etc) I was yelling through the mic to my friends wondering why they couldn't hear me. I paused the game and pulled up the party screen and noticed my mic was not lighting up. I pushed the mute button and unmuted it and they could hear me again. This happened probably twice in an hour and is completely annoying. You don't know if people just aren't talking or your mic isn't working. Third, I read online of other people's reviews [reddit, amazon, etc] who also agreed with me that I was not the only person having these issues. Turtle Beach (who does not supply a technical support phone number nor has their chat support online ever) has 3 technical support FAQs, one was which update the firmware. You have to hook the transmitter and the headset to the PC while pressing 3 buttons at once and plugging it into the computer. Updates were available. After multiple attempts, the firmware updater says that the headset was unable to be updated and to try again. I attempted three times and failed at all of them. Long story short, the headset is two days old and $230 and I already realized it is not worth a dime. It is packed up and will be returned to the store tomorrow. DO NOT PURCHASE THIS HEADSET. Read other reviews besides mine to know that I'm not just having a bad day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These bad boys! Oh man! Hands down, best head set I've ever used. I returned my Afterglow because of connection problems, bought these and WOW sound is beautiful, comfy to wear for many hours, mic pics up everything you say easily without picking up the entire room. All the settings are awesome. You hear EVERYTHING. I thought about buying the Astro 50s but I bought these because of the subtle price difference. I won't be going to the 50s. Way too happy with these 500s. Great buy. I recommend to anyone, buy these, give them a try for a couple days (you have a month to return them) if you don't like it, get the 50s, BUT I'M TELLING YOU, YOU WON'T BE GOING AWAY FROM THESE

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first headset This is my first real gaming headset. They do sound good, and you can tell they are surround sound. I have only used them with GTAV so far. You can use them with your media devices, cell phones, tablets, etc. However you used a 3.5mm cable. It comes in handy you can talk on the phone and play the game at the same time. There are separate controls for game and phone volume. The battery life is good, and I would recommend them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 100% Wireless Headset It's the only headset available for Xbox 1 that does not require a cord plugged into the contoller for party/game chat. The volume and preset controls are simple to use and it is very lightweight and comfortable. The sound quality is excellent. I did have to update the Bluetooth transmitter and headset firmware to the latest version using the turtle beach software on my PC. My only complaint is the power button rattles a little.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great headset ! Anyone wanting a fully wireless headset need not look any farther! Very comfortable (as long as you don't plan on wearing them for more than 4 hours), great value, the sound is great, very easy to set up, the noise cancelling is wonderful, and they can be used on other devices. I've been using them for a week and have yet to have an issue. The only thing I miss about my old headset (x41's) is the stand that came with it. I can't wait to really dive in and try all the presets that it has!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from clarity and detail Upgraded from the X41's which aside from the popping and crackling sounded great. I was hesitate to purchase the Stealth 500X's worried they would pop and crack due to interference also but the 500X's have no interference what so ever. Yes these are pricey but I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I am currently playing Destiny and I am amazed at the level of detail and clarity these headsets produce. The Stealth 500X's have excedded my expectations.
