I recently purchased a Xbox One and this headset came with it. It worked ok for about 2 weeks until my friends started complaining today that it was making annoying noises. I looked up videos to try to fix and unplugged it multiple times. Still doesnt work. Definitely not worth $5. Not very comfortable and works poorly. If you use this headset for a week its fine but you must purchase a different headset. The sound quality is terrible and design is terrible. Very disappointed in Microsoft!!!!

In a nut shell there is no service life in this mic. If you keep it plugged in you might get a few months out of it, but if your like me & unplug your mic before you put your controller away you might get one to three unplugs b4 you get the signs of a broken mic. (static, reception issues, & echo's). I myself got three my friend got one. Even if you leave it plugged in its only a matter of time before the cord bends to much & you get the same issue. By the time you get a decent service out of this model you could spend dozens replacing it. Just save your money it's over a 1/3 the price of a cheap turtle beach.
Compared to the 360's Wireless, its trash.

I have bought 3 sets of this kind of head set and its only been a year since I bought my XBOX ONE hope this helps.

I got my xbox one chat communicator headset with my xbox one and it is outstanding I have an amazing time chatting with my friends I don't even have, I would definitely recommend this to a friend, also I love comfortable it is, it's like Its not even there because it falls off all the time but it's so light it is very easy to pick it up and put it back on then to realize that my game has ended due to my distraction of my amazing headset falling off. I think microsoft had a huge innovation from the xbox 360s chat communicator headset. Another thing I would like to share about this outstanding headset is that it only covers one ear allowing me to hear all the distracting noises outside of my game which confuses me and causes me to lose in zoo tycoon. The last thing I want to share is the amazing control panel on the controller that gets in the way of favorite games like zoo tycoon, Lego super heros, just dance 2014, sky landers SWAP FORCE, and angry birds Star Wars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rated 2 out of 10 by DashFIFAHD Good Headset... for 2 months
I bought this headset when I got my Xbox One 2 months ago. But it came too my surprise that the headset instantly stopped working. With it's very flimsy design, it looked like the cheap headset you wish you'd never want to buy. Even though it did work well for the 2 months, I still have to go buy another headset now. If your a gamer who wants the best experience on the Xbox One, I would just go out and by the $70 headset instead of paying that in 6-8 months.
Rated 2 out of 10 by benefold Very poor design
Save your money folks and get the Turtle Beach headset. This stock headset is junk compared to the xbox 360 headset. Not only is it cheap, it's flimsy, and the one that came with my xbox one already messed up. I figured this headset would be at least at par with the 360 headset, but it lacks in mostly every way. It rattles in the earpiece, the cord is too fragile at the bottom, and the mic bar is not bendable. The only good thing about this headset is the fact that it's secure to the bottom of the controller. But getting it to detach from the controller can be a chore due to it's construction. It's too sleek, which your fingers might have a hard time gripping on the connector and can cause you to grip too hard or pull on the cord instead. If you pull the cord, that kills the connection and the headset is useless afterwards. Overall review... JUNK. Buy a different headset.

This is the worst product I have ever bought, within the first month of use it stopped working. Sure I could hear my friends talk in parties, adjust volume, and mute myself, it simply didn't pick up m voice. I treat the mic well, never toss it or smash it. I put it down for one minuet, come back, and I can't talk. Now I have to use my cell phone to talk until I can find a better replacement. Thanks Microsoft for making such a poorly made, expensive piece of plastic.
Rated 5 out of 10 by Ariendh Good design, flawed performance.
I like the simplicity of the design. I can't afford to buy expensive head sets, this came with my console. I have used it for three weeks and it no longer works. People can hear me but I can't hear them. There is a short where the wire connects to the usb port on the head set itself. When it was working though the only problem I had was when the controller would vibrate and the sound would become broken. I hope Microsoft comes out with a wireless set soon, this wired stuff sucks anymore. They break or short out too easy. Luckily my Gamestop is going to exchange it once the product is back in stock.

I already went through two mics within a few months. They break easily and i take good care of my items but this mics are a terrible design. If you buy them be prepared to be back at the store in a month to get a new one
Rated 7 out of 10 by JawMini Better than I expected
Comparing these headsets to the 360 version I have to say is better. However, I feel like the speakers on the mic are not as loud for my personal liking. The thing that surprised me the most was how sensitive this mic is. You no longer have to yell or eat the mic like the 360 version. Honestly for the price i think its over priced simply because the design of the mic is NOT up to par like it should have been. The mic simply feels cheap & VERY fragile. Overall everyone has different expectations & preferences. If you're looking for a mic that does the job, well this is the mic to get. If you are like me who wants a more efficient speaker/mic & gaming experience, than you might want to consider in investing in another mic.
