Thrustmaster Ferrari 458 Spider Racing Wheel
Worth the money
I just purchased this wheel on Black Friday for 79.99... and it's worth every bit of that... even at the 99.99 price it's a bargain. Like mentioned it doesn't offer any force feedback but you get use to it quick. The one thing I wish it would do is retain it's sensitivity settings after you save it. You have to use it on lower settings for Forza and it has to be adjusted before each use. It's a simple process but one I think they could've done a little better on. Other than that... it's a great setup for the money and I would suggest any novice game racer to get it.
Naysayers must be "arcade racing" types...
I promised myself I would never buy another sim racing wheel, because the one I bought--the Microsoft white one for the 360--was so useless. I don't know how many years ago that was, but I kept that promise--until now. With the hype surrounding Prjoject Cars, F1 2015, and Forza 6 on the Horizon, I thought if there was a time--it was now. So with a head full of positive Youtube reviews, I stormed over to the nearest Gamestop to break my promise. After the first 15 minutes playing Forza 5, I was thinking, "they got me again!" But then, something happened. I changed the sensitivity settings, watched a few Youtube videos, and BAM! How the people over at Thrustmaster managed to make this wheel this good is really impressive. If you want to have the most fun you can have in your living room, get yourself a Thrustmaster 458 wheel. I loved it so much, I bought the 458 TX (the one with the force feedback). The best thing is--I am climbing the rankings! Thanks Thrustmaster and Gamestop. Oh, if you are looking for a wheel to work with Need for Speed or games like that, STOP... This is for serious sim racer types.
Awesome for the value! Great buy.
First off let me start by addressing the weight issue. it being light does not make it bad as long as you have a tv tray that you can set up to clamp it down on or any table that is not incredibly thick. while it does not have feed back it does have very strong bands in it for resistance that work great. The wheel its self has 4 settings for sensitivity and 3,4 our recommended for Forza. great buy and i would defiantly recommend it to a friend or family member.
Excited for a cheaper wheel for the xbox one instead of $399 for all of the other ones. I really dont wan't to spend the same for the wheel as the xbox.
99 dollars? Would have paid 200. Wheel looks amazing out of the box. VERY SOLID. SIMPLE to set up. Incredibly accurate. Zero lag. 4 sensitivity settings makes any car remarkably realistic to handle. Been gaming for 12 years and will scrutinize any game/accessory to the fullest. Easily one of the best gaming purchases I have ever made. Good for you guys.
Great handling racing wheel!
This wheel works great with the Forza games! Need For Speed doesn't support it for some reason. I have had a racing wheel for every generation of Xbox and this is the best I've used! It only mounts on a table, a TV tray works great, 4 sensitivity settings you can change while driving is fast and easy. No plug for a headset but you can use a regular controller at the same time so I'm sure you can plug a headset in there. I was unsure when buying it but glad I did. Worth the money and my racing is better than a normal controller. Higold recommended!
WORKS VERY GOOD!!
I wrote my review in the wrong section. This is a bear bones setup like the ads and gamestop said there is no forcefeed back no rumble and no chat hookup. For chat you need to use the standard controller. The controller and the wheel will work together with out a problem. This racing wheel works better than expected. The one I have looks and feels well constructed. Only one thing for some reason the wheel will turn my xbox on by its self. You have to unplug the usb cable after you turn off your xbox. If your on a tight budgit and you want a wheel then this is the one to get. When you think about it. It only costs $40 more than a standard controller and it works really! well! just as good as the exspensive wheels do.
Uncompatible~Need For Speed/Xbox1
Right now only works on Forza. Couple games coming out later. I can make due w/out shifter or clutch but i need steering wheel for Need4Speed but it isn't supported. I dont have forza so I cant say much about it because i cant drive anything. May work on watchDogs or battlefield 4 cars, I dont know.
Glad this is coming.
I started playing forza at the tail end of the 360s life before Xbox One released. I was more of a PGR fan on 360. I am really excited for this cheaper option for a racing wheel but my one question is that is it wireless to the console itself.
I wish I didnt buy it
The steering wheel is so tight to turn its rediculous.
The adjusting pedals are a joke.
In order to really enjoy it you will have to buy their stand that costs hundreds
Wish I never bought it
