Very fun and makes you want to try all the powers.
This is one of my favorite games.I first played as Adrian with energy projection. It was amazing how it would hit more than 1 person each blast it would hit and keep going. When i finished the career mode with him i played agian as Grant with dark matter and its just so cool how diffrent stuff happens as you pick diffrent people.
NOT bad, could be better though
So, the game is very easy to pick up and get going on. The gene customization is cool, being able to swap out iconic and not so iconic x men and brotherhood powers adds a nice twist. The power selection is nice not being given a specific power tree is a plus. However, the story is EXTREMELY short, i think im through my second play through in almost 2 hours. And its fun to play again to use all three power trees, but after that maybe another three plays ONLY IF youre feeling like seeing all the abilities you can get.
My biggest problem is that you dont get to create your own character, there are customizable features but it would be much better to be able to build a character from scratch on your own. Also activision could have made more than just 3 powers trees to choose from. Wouldve added a lot more replay value.
All in all its a fun game to play not much replay value after the first three runs. So id say wait til its cheaper to get it, not quite the jump outta your seats to go buy.
This could be awsome or it could be terible.
I'm not sure about this game and beleive me when I say I'm an X-Men fan you can beleive it and I like the last X-men game better than the movie it was based on, but the things holding me back for predicting this to be the next InFAMOS are as such. We aren't sure how long the game is going to be witch is even more important since this is an RPG with the story and side missons if they remembered to add side missions. We also don't know if we can free rome around San Fransisco and see the Xavior Mansion or even Magneto's island but from trailers and gamplay from Comic Con and E3 all you will be doing is roaming around war torn San Farnsisco with one exception I beleive. I will not lie besides the charater designs graphics look terible and as if they spet little to no time developing. Yet on the bright side there is a uniqe story were the Professior is dead and Cyclops and other X-Men decide to make a peice rally where as expected desrtuction occurs. at this time you chioce a character with an origanal back ground story whitch will be revealed throught the game and as you are in a moment of crysis time stops and your mutant gene is awoken and you must choose one of three core powers that you will use throughout the game. You will also fight along side The X-Men or Brotherhood and can even customise your charater's costme and powers to resemble mutants like Wolverine or even Magneto. Voice over seem decant whitch is alright with me. All in all it is heads or tales so I predict eight out of ten on the positives and three out of ten on the negetives. Please tell weather this preview has been helpful or not.
A Combination of Games
So it sounds like X-Men meets Fable... If you are a Fable series fan as I am, it seems to be something to take a look at. If you are a fan of X-Men games and such, it may be something for you guys to check out. All in all it seems to be promising, lets hope!
This is going to be good
The thing about xmen games that is really rare with any type of game is that they are always good. Not necesarily always great, but always at least good.Ive preordered this game and my expectations are pretty high(as they should be).Everything ive heard about this game so far has been good..Even the the people who write the articles for game informer have been seemingly impressed with this game, which is rare because for what ever reason they usually talk pretty negatively about super hero games.Another thing that sounds nice is that this sounds different than any other xmen game made before.Which is very good because there have been so many different styles of gameplay used for xmen games, they arent like spiderman games where they are all generally the same(not that thats bad I love spiderman games).I cant wait for this game to come out it feels like ts taking forever.
Planning To Buy
I see this going 50/50 but I am keeping my hopes really high up for this game. It's been awhile since we've actually had any X-Men game which wasn't entirely based upon a movie. I think it's a good route and wanting to try something different. However I am not a fan of the graphics but as long as I can take any of the premade characters and redefine them to the hero/villian that I want does not bother me at all.
It already has two of my favorite X-Men in it so I'm happy. (Nightcrawler and Colossus) I plan on buying this game the day it comes out. :)
This game is the best. I totally would say get and play it. If not your missing out. Awesome. The best.
It could have been much better.
I recently bought this game, mainly due to my love for anything Marvel and or X-Men related. It was a slight disappointment. One, the graphics could have been much better. Two, it would have been better if they had allowed you to create your mutant instead of choosing pre-existing ones. Three, it should have been a free roam game in a sandbox world. The mutant abilities the creators allowed you to choose from were okay but there should have been more. It is slightly like playing Infamous one or two, you make a desicion during certain key areas, be an x-man or go with the brotherhood. YAWN! If this had been done more like Fabel, your overall actions effect who you team with. That would have worked. You have to be a really big fan of Marvel games and the X-Men to enjoy this one. Now if the developers would allow add-on powers and characters later on it would raise the interest level to at least a rating of 8 maybe 8 and a half. There have been better X-Men games on the first X-Box and Playstation 2. Rent this one and buy Batman: Arkham City.
a great X-men game
This game is one of the best X-men game ever. I really liked how you finally get to pick between The Brother Hood or X-men. They say the have to make choices threw out the game, and while you do get to make choices I feel like you don't get to really make enough choices. It's more like who side you want to be on. Now don't get me wrong that's fine but their needs to be more choices other than desiceding on if you want to be an X-men or Brother Hood. I also like how you get to choose your own power can unlocking the kind of power you want but I mean really you should get to have more core powers to pick from. I also feel like it should be a free rome type game where you can move around the whole city. The thing I really didn't like is the graphics I feel like that graphics aren't what they could be. All in all its a great game will lots of unlockable stuff.
More dev time would have been appreciated...
Xmen Destiny is not a bad game. Unfortunately, it isn't very good either. This is another Activision disasterpiece pushed out when it should have remained in production. The game has all of the makings to be a great experience: RPG elements for making YOUR own unique mutant, different buffs and stat modifiers for further expanding on that RPG level, a rich combat system(though flawed), and a pretty cool back story for each of the game's three characters. Choosing Brotherhood or Xmen could and should be a tough decision, though the game rarely takes that approach. Instead of giving you a set path, it remains true to its RPG elements and gives you the option to gain either factions trust through missions that are available in one large area. Do NOT expect to go back and do another mission once one is completed. When you pick a path, be prepared to follow it to its bitter, disappointing end.
There is a serious flaw in the game, the sheer amount of Xmen and Brotherhood that roam the screen. They are all important, from the triumphant Cyclops and Wolverine, to the lesser known Pixie and Quicksilver. The game begins rather quickly to a Mortal Kombat Annihilation kind of scenario, shoving as many of the mutants in game as possible, and things only get worse from there. It seems like Silicon Knights was trying to make something really special for comic book fans by putting so many of the iconic characters in and putting you in the mix of them, but it just doesn't work.
The game's graphics are not terrible, but they aren't great either. Some of the in-game textures will look fantastic, either the metal shining on some of the mechanical characters, or the textures on the clothing some of the mutants wear, but the overall experience is still poor. Sound, however is great. Hearing just exactly how thick Gambit's accent is never gets old, and hearing the how the stories weave together through the eyes of different mutants almost makes up for the bad gameplay.
So, the game isn't terrible by any means, but it does not justify the $65 price tag after tax. The game was rushed out to try and contend with the holiday releases, but what we get is a muddled, poorly thought-out, characterless story, with bland dynamics and overall bad decision making. You aren't stuck to the one path or another, but you are stuck in one of their missions if you wander to close.
