Product Details:

As World War II wages outside of a lonely hospital window, it also plays inside of the mind of Violette Summer. While in a coma, the British Intelligence agent relives both the hushed and heavy horrors the she experienced while sabotaging the Nazi regime. Inspired by real-life WWII heroine Violette Szabo, Velvet Assassin reveals the revulsions of war that are never spoken aloud. Through third person game play, sneak up on enemies and pull the pins from their belted grenades. Infiltrate a Nazi camp and slip cyanide to your own men before the Germans make them talk. Slink through the shadows to finish off your unsuspecting enemies with a single, perfectly aimed shot. Through Violette's fever dreams, experience what she experienced. Walk where she walked. Kill those she killed.

  • Lure your enemy by whistle to a puddle of gasoline right before you ignite it or turn off their radio to bring them a step closer to the cold reach of Violette's silent knife.
  • Explore surreal, dreamlike settings that are modeled after actual World War II locations.
  • Experience the unimaginable horrors of stealthaction warfare in the shadows of Nazi-controlled Europe.
  • Change Violette's attributes to suit your playing style, whether it is increased stealth, more strength, or better weapon handling.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from "cloak and dagger never tasted so bad" as a gamer i tend to try different titles, i love games with stealth in them like dishonored, deus ex, and tenchu. so why wouldn't i give velvet assassin a try? i wish i saved my money. STORY: velvet assassin plays the true story of violet zsoba. A British spy dropped behind enemy lines to assassinate important targets. the way they execute the narrative in the game is booring and unsatisfying, cut scenes are played through still frames of you or some other meaningless character and the way they explain the story is very bland like no effort was put into it at all. GAMEPLAY: STEALTH: the core element of this game is stealth and it is the key to success. violet can hide in the shadows to prey upon her enemies and strike with her trusty dagger the mechanics are pretty much the same, if you've ever played a game that has stealth involved you know how this game will pan out. you crouch you sneak you kill you take the body stash away from a guard, nothing new here problem is when you make the slightest error like step out of a shadow too quickly you are automatically engaged into combat and this is where the game really lost me. COMBAT: im just gonna flat out say it. the combat in velvet assassin is straight up utterly dreadful. your reticle is hardly reliable, the guns are not accurate, i know its a WWII game, but come on you don't give the player a gun then come to find out the thing dosent work right. and that brings me to the enemies. THE ENEMY: the enemy in this game are of course the hot headed Germans. NOW if you plan on buying this game prepare to reload you checkpoints like crazy. these guys are cruel and they will MURDER you! the problem with the soldiers in this game though is not that there cruel and evil but that the fact they always seem to know where you are even when you are creeping around the shadows and when they find you its over. they're accuracy is ludicrously good and it only takes a few shots to die and that's that reload checkpoint rinse and repeat. THE EXP SYSTEM:one thing that really made me angry about this game was the way they dish out exp. the way violet gets exp. is when you are in a level and you come across a collectible it gives you from 100 to 300 exp now i probably wouldn't have had a problem with this if the level up wasent 1000 EXP so that means if you want to level up you have to level your violet. you have to go collectible hunting. I HATE COLLECTIBLE HUNTING. GRAPHICS: one of the things i did like about this game was the tone it set, it really gave off a very eerie presence like that of silent hill games, the game seemed to appear very murky at times making it tough to see enemies in the distance. buildings and objects cast shadows for violet to move around in. SOUND: um yeah this game hardly put any effort into the sound department. your constantly hearing the same noises the guards repeat the same song over and over and over again. though i liked the voice actor for violet she didn't truly impress me. another thing game did get right was the enemy actually spoke in their German tongue. MY EXPERIENCE: i popped alot of ibuprofen playing this game, never have i raged so hard on a game it made me cuss out the TV, even my dog high tailed a few times when i went RAGE mode. i got to level 11 today and everything was going pretty smooth i was stealthin around pickin off the enemy left and right and then the game decided "hey lets change it up a bit" the game made all of the enemies aware of my presence the minute i picked up a STG (which is required for this mission). now i didn't know it so when i walked outside a hail of gunfire just trampled violet and killed her, i was in shock for a second so i did what any other gamer would do, i reloaded my save. and to my great surprise it wasent a bug it was part of the mission. my character (who i invested in to be a stealth character since the combat system is broken) was forced to kill like IDK about 7 soldiers with no cover system whatsoever i stood behind the only cover i could find and shot at them even point blank the gun misfired. so they stormed on me killed me. I RAGED and decided to right a review on this garbage. THE VERDICT: Velvet assassin is a very broken game, if they at least made a cover system for the combat or actually made your character stronger by giving out more EXP this might have been an alright experience. but it wasent a fun experience it was a very painful one. if your really desperate for a stealth game i recommend alpha protocol its the same price as this and its waaaaay better. but if you really want a hardcore stealth game that holds no bars give it a try. just carry a bottle of aspirin with you. your gonna need it. VELVET ASSASSIN 4/10 "getting a headache just thinking about it"

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Female Splinter Cell....but for Amateur gamers... I love Splinter Cell & have played all of the games in the series & this game is basically a rip off of those....just Badly done... There were a few things about this game that just bothered me...like not being able to Jump. It's such a basic move & not being able to do it & only being able to climb when I am able to select the action is just plain annoying. For people who aren't hardcore gamers & would like a basic sneak & kill game this is for them...but otherwise don't waste your money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fun, but REALLY HARD I just got thism game today and I like it okay but it's REALLY HARD. Everything else is ok, but you don't play it very long because every time you go up for a silent kill the guards turn around and kill you. Then you have to go back to your previous checkpoint. the thing is that there aren't that many checkpoints in the game, soif you die, you have to go really far back. The gameplay is fun, because of the stealth action and the controls are pretty easy to figure out. The graphics of the game aren't so good, because the characters look like cartoon characters. the sound is good, because they play really good music to go along with the level your on. overall this game is ok, but if you play it, your are about to get mad!!!!!!!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Why the bad reviews? I loved this game, and found it very suspenseful. I don't understand why some people are giving it such bad reviews. Normally, I'm not into the stealth kind of games but I borrowed this from a friend (she thought it was too slow paced) and I really got into the story and game play. She even left me keep the game cause I loved it so much! I'd recommend to anyone who likes this sort of game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not blockbuster but still great This game isnt exactly an E3 award or Game of the Year, but its still good. Every second is a tense, stealthy game that stars WWII spy Violette Summer. The purposely cartoony graphics and occasionally funny dialouge make it all the better. If you like stealth, this is for you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Filled its purpose This game is great if youre the type of person who likes stabbing ppl and cuting throats, cause through out the game you go through a few amount of weapons, and amo. To me the game did full fill its purpose, as it is based on a true story. Your a british girl named violette summer, she is a secret agent, fighting german enemies. Id say the game is a little to boring to play more than once it gets old after a while cause the lvls are very similar. your main weapon through the game is a knife and you can use shadows for sneaky attacks, be careful and make sure you are not seen cause your health is very limited on this game, you dont have much. but other wise i do like the game its okay :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Underated, judge 4 yourself and see I found this most wonderful game at Gamestop allmost for free! I had heard of it before it came out. Allthough after its release I saw it was given poor reviews at best. So I just kind of forgot about it. Well I decided to pick it up two days ago. I must say I cant believe the ratings I had saw before. The game is well made stealth game!! I mean what kind of people are reviewing games today?? I think most reviewers are mutli player shooters working for some big online review company and assume all games MUST have multi player options or its an automatic fail. Or just some kid who only plays button smashers and cant stand to play a game a little slower. No head set to swear into equals no fun to them. the game moves slow and steady. If played on hard mode, you will be seen by the enemy and killed. You have to stay in the shadows and kill silently! 45 achievments for a 1000 points to boot.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good Stealth Game This Game is a good, solid, Stealth game. People give it a bad review because they are expecting an action game not a stealth game. Which i agree is'nt specified very well in the marketing, but, The game is a true stealth game and is a good one. The Stealth is well done and the kill moves that your rewarded with for remaning hidden are satisfying. I did find that if you are spotted a few bullets will do you in and a kill move from the front is'nt possible unless you get your fix of morphine. Firearms in the game are good if you can find their strong points. I was really dissapointed with the lack of game modes, the ONLY one is the campaign, At least add something like "Nazi Hunt". There is no multiplayer but i don't mind that as much. Overall I was satisfied with Velvet Assassin and i am looking forward to a second game and some new modes.
