Rated 10 out of 10 by A Commy Cowboy Are we playing the same game?
wow I can't believe that someone actually writes a complaint for the game that doesn't have anything to do with it. yes the game leaves something to be desired but as for it being a disapointment I tend to disagree. This game is actually quite amazing and looks really good on 1080p. The game is very challenging and the AI actually looks for you. There are no gadgets to help you so it all really relies on you own skill and ingenuity to get past guards. The stealth kills are very well done even after seeing them 20 to 30 times I still like watching them. The game plays from a flashback perspective wich might turn some people off but I think they did a very good job with it. so here is the low down if you like stealth games that require skill to beat play this game, atleast rent it. If you like gadgets and just all out being a badass this isn't the game for you. I play it on agent and its a pain so I love it. hard to find games that are actually challenging.
Rated 2 out of 10 by Luis Ashtarothh Nothing Redeemable.
I rented this hoping that it would be a fresh, new spin on the stealth action series. I was wrong. The story is a jumbled mess. Its portrayed in flashbacks by Violette. It's seemingly impossible to follow and rather stupid. The controls are okay and really didn't pose any problems, although that isn't much. The graphics are nothing spectacular and again, don't pose any problems to the overall experience. The AI is Incredibly stupid, They programmed the vision cones to ignore you in the dark and completely annihilate you if they see you. Unlike other stealth games (Splinter cell) they AI can and will see you through walls and will pretty much destroy your experience. There is no point to use your guns for the aiming is broken and if you do get a shot off, unless it's a headshot, you're gonna' have to shoot them again. All in all, don't play this game at all, it's an insult to stealth games and WW2 games alike. Rent something else or buy something else.
Rated 4 out of 10 by Rokan This game was really..
Bad. Just bad in general. The graphics could have been SO much better. I mean c'mon, this is the Xbox 360 we're talking about here. I was expecting a game like Assassin's Creed or something. Boy, was I wrong. You can't be seen AT ALL. The guns were horrible and hard to use. The AI were complete morons. And for some reason you become invincible and very fast after injecting yourself with Morphine, so all you can really do is look confused while she runs around in the suddenly vivid environment wearing only a small nightgown and murdering people with a knife while they mindlessly unload clips of bullets into her repeatedly. The main character doesn't seem like she belongs in this game either. I just can't picture one woman killing dozens of Nazi's on her own using a tiny switch-knife and the occasional firearm. Definitely rent this game if you want to play it. Velvet Assassin also requires a lot of patience, so beware.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Altair reincarnated If you like WW2 and stealth=Best WW2 Stealth game ever
I absolute loved Velvet Assassin while yes it can be very demanding, so I would recommend people that do not have patients not even to try this game. I thought however though that this was probably the most challenging video game I have encountered. Yes, it can be very difficult so I would warn those that are intending to buy this game that it is not for everyone. If you have patients and love WW2 history as I do then this is up your alley. This game is very comparable to splinter cell or hitman only the difference is Violette is not very suitable for combat action (hence the stealth stay in the shadows.) I hope that southpeak makes a second adaptation of this game. I think that the most intriguing part about this game is when you are lurking in the shadows and you sneak behind an enemy combatant and pull his grenade pin, and as he slowly walks back to his comrades the grenade explodes and they are both chop liver.
Rated 7 out of 10 by WWII fan Fairly solid stealth game
I'm shocked to see this only have a 5 rating average on here. While it isn't the blockbuster WWII stealth it may have hoped to be, Velvet Assassin is one of the most tense stealth games you'll play on any of the current consoles out there. You play as an assassin (go figure) named Violette Summers who's portrayed be a real-life hero Violette Szabo during WWII and it starts off with her ending up in a bed supposedly knocked out. Through Violette's dreams, you'll go through some of the missions she'd went through before ending up on some bed. The journey can be fairly linear but all the while tense and interesting. The major faults you could see is the somewhat foolish AI and when your seen, you could be in a perfectly dark area and they could still possibly sniff you out with relative ease. While those may be two faults that'll have you on the fences of grabbing, I can't blame you although you'll be missing out of some fun times with multiple ways of assassinating targets to listening in on conversations between Nazis making the scenes much more enthralling than expected.

I bought this game like alot of others thinking this was going to be a great "stealth" game, sorry, don't hold your breath on that one. The main character in the game gets killed if she does any attacking with her knife, she doesn't stand a chance,if she has a gun, and shots the enemy dead on,it takes mor then one round to put them down, and chances are you have only 7 bullets at best? The game say's it's saving your progress, well half the time it is the other half,if should you get killed in the next level, when you come back from being killed you are back at the prevous level you thought you just left! And now, you've got to go back and kill some of the "AI" that you had already gone through the trouble of killing before, and repeat the same routine as before,boring........... The enviroments are just so so, the water affects are like 5 years ago in quality, and that's just for starters, bodies of those that you have shot may find them selves half in or out of walls and doors,I would never reccommend this game to anyone as it lacks the quality and style that we as gamers deserve.

I found this most wonderful game at Gamestop allmost for free! I had heard of it before it came out. Allthough after its release I saw it was given poor reviews at best. So I just kind of forgot about it. Well I decided to pick it up two days ago. I must say I cant believe the ratings I had saw before. The game is well made stealth game!! I mean what kind of people are reviewing games today?? I think most reviewers are mutli player shooters working for some big online review company and assume all games MUST have multi player options or its an automatic fail. Or just some kid who only plays button smashers and cant stand to play a game a little slower. No head set to swear into equals no fun to them. the game moves slow and steady. If played on hard mode, you will be seen by the enemy and killed. You have to stay in the shadows and kill silently! 45 achievments for a 1000 points to boot.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Mass Effect Geek A good Stealth Game
This Game is a good, solid, Stealth game. People give it a bad review because they are expecting an action game not a stealth game. Which i agree is'nt specified very well in the marketing, but, The game is a true stealth game and is a good one. The Stealth is well done and the kill moves that your rewarded with for remaning hidden are satisfying. I did find that if you are spotted a few bullets will do you in and a kill move from the front is'nt possible unless you get your fix of morphine. Firearms in the game are good if you can find their strong points. I was really dissapointed with the lack of game modes, the ONLY one is the campaign, At least add something like "Nazi Hunt". There is no multiplayer but i don't mind that as much. Overall I was satisfied with Velvet Assassin and i am looking forward to a second game and some new modes.
Rated 10 out of 10 by S7eal7h Kill3r WWII Splinter Cell
Velvet Assassin is basically a WWII version of Splinter Cell. You sneak up on enemies from behind and kill them, no knockout. You are actually encouraged to kill your enemies, but stealth kill is much better. You find random collectibles such as; cigar boxes, lighters, rings, medals, etc. These items level you up, give you experience points. For every 1000 EXP, you get 1 Level up Star which is basically a level up point. I am currently playing it on the hardest difficulty, Angent, and of what I've played I have really enjoyed. Sadly there are only 12 levels. The game is entirely in 3rd person. The storyline is a flashback and the gameplay is in 3rd person. I recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed the Splinter Cell series and are fascinated by World War II combat, weapons, and tactics. I hope this review helped in your decision of purchasing Velvet Assassin.
Rated 1 out of 10 by Afro fan What a Disappointment
this game is absolutely horrible. i just bought it today and i though it would be a mix between hitman and splinter cell but velvet assassin is far from them. When you play you get the feeling that your playing a splinter cell game on the ds or game boy it has such a horrible flow that it makes you wonder how a company could make such a waste of a game. Lately there have been so many disappointing games that i thought Velvet Assassin would break this trend, however this game just upped the continued this pattern. When i was playing i could see where the game creators and designers were trying to go with the stylistic graphics but all it does is make you think there is pollen on your tv. i remember hearing about this game about a year ago thinking this would be a new ground breaking series but all i can say is that ive never been more disappointed
