Great game, very fun!
This has to be the best simulator game available. The gameplay is extremely fun, there's so many things to do and stuff to watch after. Each person (AI) has their own needs, etc.. It's really immersive. The controls are a tad difficult at first, on the 360 version, but after a little while you're good to go. Again, there's so many things to do. Foreign relations, citizens, etc.. It's the best sim game I've ever played. The graphics are great, and everything runs smoothly. The building animations are great too. The AI is good. I love the random events that happen, it really brings you into the game universe. The challenge is amazing, because if you don't fulfill the needs of your people, they will rebel and eventually start attacking buildings, or leave your island nation completely! This game is great, I recommend to anybody who loves a great simulator game with great, great gameplay!
I am waiting with bated breath for this to come out, finding a good sim or stategy game on a console is difficult to do. I actually spent a full day running around trying to find it on the 360 because I though it had already been released on 2/2/10. For those of you struggling with finding information on what the different factions are griping about, you need only need to take a look in Politics tab (in the menu that comes up when Y button is pressed I believe) You can see each factions rating of you out of 100, and zoom in on the citizen who leads that faction to see what they like and dislike about your Tropico. The only problem I have had with the Demo so far is the Tutorial, it really didn't go into detail with the different mechanics going on in your island, plus the controls are a bit unresponsive. But again, this is only a problem in the tutorial, the game itself is streamlined and responsive, and gives you the the feeling that you are the real El Presidente!
For the intelligent...
I gave this game a 10 because it is the first game in a long time made for intelligent gamers. This type of game is not meant to have the best graphics or sound but to exercise you mind. It is right up there with Simcity and Civilization. The graphics are really good for what the game is. The sound is great, there is always some news playing in the background linked to what your are doing. The interface is really easy, just play through the tutorial first. The story line is simple but changes depending on what you are doing. I also had problems trying to find it, as certain large stores did not carry hit as they did not think anybody in my county would buy it. To clear this up, YES smart people play games to! I had to go three cities over to pick this up, and I am really glad I did! So to put it simple, if you like simple shoot them up games, this is not for you. If you like a mentally challenge strategy game that will occupy many hours of your time, this is it!
Ok this game makes me sad... I cannot believe how much fun it turned out to be! makes me sad to know that due to a lack of advertising no one in my area reserved it so it did not exist! :( so i got on here and ordered the bad boy! I Played close to every Sim City game ever made.. my impression was it was going to be a watered down version of that. But it proved me completely wrong with its shear complexity! yet still very user friendly! This game is loaded with new and fun events to challenge your ability to lead as President, Economy System is very complex and really makes you work to bring in the money (A Good and addicting Complex not a frustrating one). There is several factions of people to please or just ignore that is up to you! but each choice you make seems to really effect how your world grows! Note also you can be a Awesome inspiring Leader! Or a pure Tyrant! or a good satisfying mix of both! but not all the people will always agree with your ways so prepare a army and police force to keep those with ideas to hurt your economy in check <GRIN>
Great game with one flaw
The game is great. You can costumize you president and you can make your island any way you like. For example you can make a peaceful democracy or a terrible dictatorship. I'll have to admit in the beginning it is a little confusing so i suggest doing the tutorial. The flaw is the graphics. A little disappoianting for how new the game is to have Wii graphics. Everything else is great except for that so I would defenitly into strategy or simulation games.
Tropico 3 is a rare gem for counsel gaming. City sims have never been transfered from a PC as well as the team's behind this game! Props to the Dev's onw this one. To propperly sum this game up would take way to long. You are El presidente! You rule over various islands... be it by communist dictatorship, or capitalist superpower... or that sweetspot you create. Graphics are solid and clean for how much is on the screen at any givin time . Soundtrack is great, and comes to you through T.N.T radio!! Hosted by the greatly voiced Juanito! Tropico 3 can get rather chalenging... but thats a selling point. If your looking for a new game to sink your teeth into , Tropico will steal you away for hours! Cheers !
This game is for the true city builders! This game has everything the a city builder should have. You can mostly do anything that you could do in real life, you can rule how ever you want. people complain that its "to complicated" and the controls are "hard to memorize" but there really not, if you cant remember the simplest things then you shouldnt play a game for smart people. You can control your city however you'd like, you can care about you citizens and do what they want and help there need, ooooor not give a p and become a militay city and just use guns to keep everyone in line, you can pick off protesters and fight rebels( you cant control your army, but remember, its not a strategy) or you can have a vacation island and attract people to come visit. there are many many choices to do in this game with always very coool things happening inbetween. the campain is looong and very entertaining. and sandbox mode will always please the true city cuilder. this game is very very very well made and deserves this rating, dont listen to the people who cant understand what to do and complain about it and give it a bad rating. ITS A GOOOOOD GAME
Good challenging game
I had downloaded the Tropico 3 demo from the marketplace a few months back and thought that this game would be great for the 360. After waiting a while for the game to come out i picked up a copy and found the demo was fun but just scratching the surface of this game. I really like the tourism aspect of the game and the different kinds of customization you have with your island. Making money in this game is fun because their are so many ways to do it from farming, mining, oil, fishing, or even tourism. Another aspect of the game i thought was cool was the ability to lead whether you side with the US or the USSR or just decide to be a nationalist the way you choose to lead changes the game your playing in. One thing that i didnt like was how when you get too much money and start building like crazy the workers take a very long time to build the buildings other then that great game addicting and fun to play
Fun, But Tough RTS
I'm not the biggest fan of RTS games, but I gave Tropico 3 a shot. It did deliver on some aspects, but other times it felt a bit frustrating.
The thing about Tropico 3 is that if you're doing something wrong, you're gonna get severely punished; I thought the game was difficult. Very little guidance or explanation is present in the game, so you're going to be fending for yourself. One thing I found particularly maddening was when I was trying to get my construction workers to build things. They would work for a day, then completely abandon the project. I went an entire game year without seeing them do work. I eventually had them all shot.
If you're a good RTS player, there are going to be less of these issues for you. Tropico 3 is still fun, and the graphics and sound aren't bad either.
Tropico Junk 3
This game really isn't worthy of a review, but i bought this game based on the reviews on this site. So here's the real deal on this game. It is not worth a dime. This game reminds me of one of them free games you can play online. This game is an insult to the xbox 360. I wasn't expecting good graphics but geese they might be worse than a ps2 game almost closer to super Nintendo game. The screen shots could not be from the 360 because i have an hd tv with hdmi cables and it looks 100 times worse than them screen shots on here. As far as gameplay it stinks this game is boring and very hard to remember all the button combos to bring up certain menus. This game should have never made its way over onto the 360 from the pc. This game might be good as a bargain pc game you get off the cheap shelf but this game has absolutely no place on the 360! I found nothing about the game that was fun or stimulating.
