Rated 10 out of 10 by Xbox360GrL Good Sk8 Game for everyone...
Proving ground is by far the best sk8 game out there. The graphics are really detailed and full of realistic looks. I the controls are really simple to learn and to catch (even if you were slow), the sound in the game is great, also AWESOME soundtrack. I love how you can create your very own custom sk8ter. This game also has tutorial were you can learn the tricks and combos easily. You have the Rigger, who teaches you how to rig up pipes and boards to make this town your own sk8 park. Hard Core are dudes that teach you how to sk8 harder and faster to teach you long jump and grind techniques, then you have the Celeb type sk8ters to help teach you the ropes on the celebrity aspect of sk8ters. This game is full of exciting levels and it is challenging so don't take this game and think it's cake walk, this game has you glued to the TV and have you practicing rad tricks till you get it right. Wish you had a choice to unlock certain levels though. TONY HAWK made this game very very very awsome and interesting.

Anyways I have a feeling Skate Is gonna beat Tony Hawk On graphics and Realism .. But For the Fun factor I have a feeling tony Hawk will win it easy .. I think its gonna be tough but what it should really come down to instead of graphics is how the game really is.. Which will have more features , replay value I mean for awhile Skate might be really cool but no one knows how the whole game is gonna go could just get boring . I mean I only played the Demo and Im not Complaing I love Skate already .. But Graphics are only a small part of the factors for games .. So Im not gonna bad mouth either game or controls because to me im very adaptable person. We really can not make a clear judgment until oth games are out. but trust me I m a big tony hawk fan but im also a skateboarding fan so of course im getting both because the demo for skate already doesn't suck but I reply back after I play then just got to wait for them to come out..

Before you assume that I am here to bash the game let me explain why I rated it so low. Growing up with the original tony hawk games such as Tony Hawks Pro Skater 1, 2, etc, this game is very different. I miss the crude humor and good soundtrack. Honestly Tony Hawk games have expanded my music tastes and some of the songs from the games are my favorite. But this sound track is extremely lack luster. Picking your own path in the game in way makes it more RPG-like as opposed to the typical linear, straightforward path that most of the Tony Hawk Series take. The graphics are not as bright and colorful as the other games either. The balance stick, when you are grinding, manualing or doing a lip trick is confusing. It does not look like an actual line it looks a lot like a cat scratched each side of the screen. However this game is not all bad.
Rated 8 out of 10 by Mjnmlbfan Great, and very challenging
I got this game free with my 360, and I didn't think I would enjoy it, but my assumption turned out wrong. This game is awesome, I enjoy how you can decide which skater to become and the skate challenges are definitly a bonus. The controls are very easy to learc, although I have found grinding for long distances to be challenging. In the game you meet a lot of pro skaters, which give you advice. I found the hardcore and rigger challenges entertaining, but not carear. Once you unlock the skate checking control though the game gets so much cooler. If you get tired of the challenges you can just go around checking people, and sometimes you get money for it. Overall I liked this game and would give it a 8.5 stars, and I would recommend it to a friend.
Rated 5 out of 10 by djluke1 pretty good game
ok i love this game but honestly the controls are of course the standard of tony hawk games but that standard is very very poor and i doubt that they will ever get a good control status, but the storyline and camera angles are incredible. the graphics are probably the best i have ever seen from any tony hawk game. Overall the challenge in this game is awful you could probably finish it in a day so as a game to play to relax and unwind its very good but if you are looking for a challenge its a bad game and i would not play it so the rating on this game depends on what kind of gamer you are trying to relax 8 or 9 but challenge is not there so about 3.5 for those who want a good old challenge ultimately. I like this game but i probably would not suggest it

Seriously tony hawk needs to stop putting out games.. they're getting way too old, its always the same thing. Thank god EA decided to freshen up the skate scene and develope a game of their own. Im stoked to get skate cuz it looks pretty knarley and the new control scheme they developed is way rad. In TH games, it was way to easy to bang out tricks... you should have to work for it. The first 4 games tony hawk and activision made were good but after that they sucked. Just way too comical for me, the graphics always are a step behind too easy and just unrealistic. I lost interest in the games mad quick and is why i aint buying this one. EA's skate is a godsend and and is totally original. So you all should forget buying THPG and just get skate instead...
Rated 0 out of 10 by edge gamer are you guys for real?
duh. skate has the genre covered. it's over. and as for the kids who relate it to real skating, no one cares how long it took you to "trey" when it should really be spelt tre anyway, fact it, it takes time to get the tricks, it's addicting, and fun. it's reaction time too, no slow-mo, "nail the trick" or "nail the grab"... what is that anyway, nail the grab? i'll tell you it's skate with less skill and more time to react. trust me, i've played every tony hawk, the proving ground demo was a disapointment for me as well as all the other hardcore th gamers. i've clocked many hours into tony hawk, and after the looks of their direction, i don't expect many more. buy skate, or at least do yourself the favor, and check out the demo.
Rated 0 out of 10 by al not so much
Well, I thought that I would give this demo a chance. After following skate and this for the last 6 months, i have come to the conclusion that skate is no doubt the way to go. The animations in this game could be one of the worst i've seen on xbox 360. you don't even crouch when you go to ollie. when you tre flip, your front foot goes the wrong way. It doesn't look like a tre flip. The create your own story is pretty much a gimmick. I aboslutely love skate. I'm almost all the way through the acheivements. The graphics are superb, the animations are fluid, and you can't gain speed going up a rail. If you aren't six, and you are looking for a challenge, skate is absolutely no doubt the way to go. I swear upon it. Get skate.

well i just played the demo of this game for a matter of lets see 2 minutes and felt like i should go outside and play with dirt to have more fun the graphics are bleh the game play is bleh its just the same things over and over again its not new activision is really losing this battle by far i dont think they could make a game much worse skate is where it is at dont waste your money on this game wait until your poser friend gets it and borrow it from them and go buy skate where in which i have played the demo for whole days straight and always had fun with it tony hawk its time to retire the games too sorry i dont ever use punctuation so if that makes you mad oh well dont buy the new tony hawks game get skate
Rated 0 out of 10 by THPS GAMER They finally did it.
I have been played every last tony hawk game made including the gameboy ones and let me just say from the start the games have always been great. However, it seems after thug 2 the games wern't as fun anymore becuase they slowly started taking features out and putting them back in such as going online on some consols and they even took out the park editor. This year they have done things right again they have added the nail the trick...not just flip tricks anymore you can also do grabs and manuals. Also they have a new feature so you can build your own park and people can play with you in it online. Overall the demo was very small but showed us how good this game should be, I have high expectations.
