Product Details:

No levels. No load times. Just never-ending action that doesn't stop until you leave the game! Tony Hawk's American Wasteland gives you - for the first time ever in a Tony Hawk game - the freedom to skate or bike, throughout a rich, expansive open environment. Once you arrive in Los Angeles, the vast city that gave birth to skate culture, the sky's the limit as you progress through the Wasteland story and choose missions that will have you immersed in the action without ever skating the same line twice!

* Freedom to Ride Forever: No load times. No level-based gameplay. In American Wasteland you travel throughout the vast urban terrain of Los Angeles including: Hollywood, East L.A. and other landmark areas without restrictions or repetition.

* Ultimate Player Control: More tricks and expanded controls than ever before! New on the board tricks include the Bert slides, Natas spins handstands, and one-footed grinds and manuals. New off the board tricks include wall runs, wall flips, and charged jumps.

* Choose board or Bike: For the first time, you can choose to ride BMX bikes throughout the entire game, with all-new physics, a BMX-specific control system and several BMX-specific goals.

* Customize Like Crazy: Enter and explore dozens of shops in-game to customize your gear and your look! Check out skate shops, barbershops, tattoo parlors, and clothing stores as you accomplish goals and earn cash.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Probably the best Tony Hawk game ever made! This Tony Hawk game has to be the best there is! The story mode takes you all over Los Angeles doing crazy missions to get pieces for a skate park owned by the fictional skateboarder, Iggy Van Zandt. You can ride a bike or a skateboard, or even run around with nothing! This game increases in difficulty as you progress, but your skill should increase at the same rate, so its shouldn't become frustrating. Classic mode has different maps from the story mode, all of which have set goals to complete. Each level has a video tape that when you find, will give you a cool skateboarding video to watch! The next game mode is High score/ Free skate. In this mode you can ride a board or bike on any map you have already unlocked. If you go onto the menu you can choose to do a high score run to set the highest score you can get! This game has a local 2 player mode and an online mode with many more players. This game may be old, but plenty of people still play it, including me! You can also create a custom skater to show off online to the other players, or just to play with by yourself! I can assure you this game will keep you playing for days!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Impressive Storyline I enjoyed this game very much. It's not for everyone though, if you're looking for a good story, this is your game. But if you're looking for a classic skating game where it's more free skating, then I recommend some of Tony Hawk's earlier games like his Pro Skater games and Underground games. Also if you're looking for a more recent skating game that has better graphics, there is also the Skate series. But personally, I didn't like the storyline of Skate 3 as much as the storyline of Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (THAW), though Skate 3's graphics were definitely a step up from THAW's. To sum up, it's a great game for a gamer looking for a good storyline.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Loads to do, you won't be disappointed It's a fantastic game from the Tony Hawk series. One of the last of a dying era of unrealistic physics, cheat codes, etc. There's the story more, where there are plenty of quest/subquests/gaps/etc. to explore and discover. Aside from a great soundtrack of Rock/Punk/Hip-Hop, the story line is one that can only be compared to the first Tony Hawk's Underground. You have many zany companions that you meet throughout the entire "career" mode, and many of them are unlockable to play in the "classic" mode. Fans of THPS 1-4 will love classic mode, as it is exactly like the old games. Unlike the first 1-4, in career mode, you earn stats by completing actual challenges, making it more fun to level up. I give this game a 9. The graphics could be improved, but this game is perfect the way it is. If you're looking for a casual skating game, this is the game for you. If you're looking for something more realistic, go play Skate 1-3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Greatest skater game Tony Hawk's American Wasteland has got to be the best skater game I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Don't get me wrong, I like Skate one and two as well, but THAW definitley kicks Skate to the curb any day. But that's my personal opinion. Highly recommended.
