Tony Hawk: Ride with SkateBoard
Great Game Can Make You Mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
well i got this game today and beat it so yes it is very short but still fun a very cool idea for a game but there are a few problems just like any new game to come out now im not saying its horrible but it need some fixings like the first thing it the board it self it is to sensitive they need to fix that you can be riding around and it will do tricks that you dont want and it takes for ever to calibrate and sometimes you have to do it over and over again but once you got that its good but the tricks are hard to get used to but they are learnable its very fun when you get to the harder levels so you can just do whatever you want and its hard to turn cause if you turn to hard it turn in a circle and if not hard enough nothing but once you do get use to it its a great buy just hard and different and you can make it work for you and i think everyone should try it and not just go off scores of fat reviewers lol but just try and keep at it and you will love it like me.
good fun for kids
Very different in that this game is really for kids and their parents. Took a little practice but like real skating the more you play, the better you get. Hours of great fun for everyone. You do need a little bit of balance to start off with, but once you get warmed up it's pretty easy. Started off with the casual settings which takes care of most navigation. Pulling off tricks is rewarding. Favorite mode is trick but the kids like speed a lot. Challenge is definitely a challenge. Confident took some time to get used to as you have to do your own steering. One thing that was useful was the ability to tighten your trucks to adjust your steering. Half pipe modes are a lot of fun. Took awhile to figure it out but it turns out we were overthinking things. Definitely look at the training videos. One last thing, if everyone in your household plays in a certain stance (goofy or regular), you can bypass the stance test by setting it in the main options screen (under Gameplay). This saved a lot of time
Ok first off this is by far the absolute Tony Hawk I've played since the franchise been out for game play. I know that this is only my OPINION, but I don't think this game is worth the steep price tag. The new controller-less concept is sweet, but it has it flaws and I'm sure others can agree with this. The soundtrack is ok and the graphics are pretty good, but I think Skate still has this Tony Hawk beat with the graphics. The last thing I'd like to address is that the learning curve is either hit or miss and that's coming from someone who's played and owned every single Tony Hawk game. I hope this review will help with your decision on whether or not it's worth your time and money. I'm not trying to bash or make anyone think that it's totally worthless cause I'm a huge supporter with this franchise, I'm just simply saying that it has many flaws that needs to be fixed before I can dethrown Skate.
Fun for the whole family---Don't over think this.
Let me first say, we are not hard core gamers. We enjoy pick up and play games that bring the family together for a night of fun. This is just such a game. My sons had friends over tonight for the neighborhood sleepover and we registered 4 hours so far playing this game. Although there is a bit of a learning curve, we were all smiling within 10 minutes as it only took a couple practice runs and we figured out the basics. We chose to keep the setting on casual, which was plenty challenging since we spent more time figuring out how to keep our balance than how to pull off crazy complicated tricks. We tried out career and party mode and enjoyed them both. Taking turns riding the board was a blast. If we weren't riding laughing at ourselves, we were laughing at the guy riding. Don't get me wrong...there was some serious competition between dad and the boys, but that's what makes a game great. If it provides those moments, then it succeeds. If you can enjoy this game for the unique interactive controller and tons of smiles it provides a family while playing, then I highly recommend the title. If you are hoping for a hard core TH game, find a different title. We will be playing this for months to come and will definitely pick up SHRED so we can get our boarding on as well.
It's an okay game
This Tony Hawk Ride game has really shown realism of skateboarding and I think with the board it self is pretty convenient. But I would say that the board need a better of communicating with my Xbox 360 becuase Im trying really hard doin the Tilt and Flip tricks and it's pretty challenging task to pass. But it also takes a bit too long just to unlock one place I'm guessing. All of the difficulties I'm having with the board is really making this game challening than just using an ordinary Xbox 360 controller that I would use for other games that doesn't need a speacial controller in able to take action of playing that specific game. Even with the board, I don't know why it takes time to turn left or right (which you have to lean in to the turn). All the tricks seem to me that I'm not trying a new trick. But it's an okay game if anyone who skateboards, go purchase this game if you feel like showing off your tricks to your friends. It's worth the money.
Worth the money and the practice
I have been reading other sites reviews of this game and based on those was not sure. I am glad I got it. I love it. Now I most admit it can be frustrating until you learn how to "ride". But the practice is so worth it. You really need to watch the training videos and use the practice feature. But the learning curve isn't too bad. It seems to have something for everyone. The ages playing at my house are 40, 15, 21, and 8. We all enjoyed playing. The 8 year old got a little angry at the board the first day. But one day later and a little effort and he is having a blast. I have a slick floor so I had to use the strips that come with the board to play. I ended up adding a small rug so I could better control the board. I would recommend this game to people who don't mind learning and practicing.
Im not to sure of this game.
i play a lot of these games to do the things i used to be able to do or maybe even things i was never able to do. having to use a board with sensors on a slippery carpet/wood floor to skate inside where if i fall things of mine get broken is not a good idea. i know not many remember the NES game "track and field" but it used a controller which was like a twister board of buttons you ran on to simulate the track events. the point is that to cheat most people didn't run on it rather they teamed up with a friend and used there hands to set new records. now apply this to tony hawk ride and take this online. you will have people using the board with there hands pulling off crazy tricks while others try to actually use the board as designed wont be able to pull off nearly any of the tricks. this will destroy the online component of it. finally I'm disabled and i cant do what i used to so having to actually skate doesn't sound fun to me at all not inside on a carpet. if i really wanted to skate i would buy a good board for less than the cost of this game and go out and skate in the real world.
Best Tony Hawk Game
I have played all the tony hawk games and really enjoy this one the most. I think it is mainly the new board controller i enjoy the most. I disagree with all the reviews from the reviewers such as G4, IGN, and Youtube reviews. The gameplay is good and i find the control of the board to actually be responsive. There arent as any unrealistic tricks like there were in the previous games it feels more like the fisrt tony hawk made which was a classic. The soundtrack is good but isnt as wide of a variety of others but the interaction is what makes the game. I was kind of iffy on buying this game because of all the bad reviews but i found that the reviewers were wrong on what i would enjoy. There is character customization but no skate park creation. If you enjoy the tony hawk series this is a must buy. Too many people overlook this game because bad reviews.
Worst Game Ever Im Glad Im selling this!
This game was really stupid, I was hoping that you could be more energenic in this game but yet you can take your hand and move the board to earn points which is really stupid. The Graphics and sounds were good but the gameplay was horrible!! Don't get this game unless you want to sell it for some of your money back because sure this game is good for the little ones, like my cousin who loves this game with his bro, but it SUCKS for people who want more action in it like me. So Don't get this game if you don't like it or if doesn't look good, and hopefully though, Im not getting this one though, the sequel will be somewhat better.
Possible Newest and Bust Muliplayer Experience?!
This game could possibly be the best multiplayer game of this year! Think, over XBL 4 people doing tricks to compete and get the most points, but not by pushing buttons, but by trying and doing many REAL combos with the skateboard. Its the best multiplayer experience because, unlike other games its about skill, not how fast you push buttons. If there is no XBL that will be the killer of the game, really, this could be the newest multiplayer experience but if they leave it out, that is just a very bad business choice! Looks great!
