Game Informer Rating:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Amazing This was the first Tomb Raider game I even played and I'm afraid that it has ruined all previous ones for me. Unless the previous games also included all the equipment and skills that this one did i doubt that I'll ever touch them. The story is amazing and is supposed to be based off an actual myth. It is both exciting and cool but it has a lot of sadness in it as well. Also I think that it has a strong message of perseverance where despite all the stuff that happens to Lara she just keeps going. Having said that, and this is to all parents thinking about getting it for their child/children, IT IS NOT A GAME FOR A KID. It is very bloody and while the gore isn't as bad as other games (Gears of War for example) it is still very violent and may not be good for some teenagers even. If your teenager can handle games like Gears of War and shows like Supernatural (some parts may seem a little scary) then they should have 0 problems playing this game. The Graphics seem pretty good to me but I generally don't put much stock in them anyway. If an entire game is much worse then another game for the same console then I'll take notice but otherwise I don't really care. However one thing that I did notice was that Lara was very well done graphics wise. The gameplay is awesome except for a few things. My biggest problem is that there is only 1 gear upgrade, but every weapon has somewhere around upgrades. If you count upgrading to a better quality weapon (Sub Machine-gun to Assault Rifle for example) as an upgrade then gear would have 2ish upgrades to every weapon having 12ish upgrades. Also the cover system seemed to be a bit clunky at times. Other then that it is was practically perfect, the puzzles and combat were challenging but not impossible, and traversing the environment become easier as you go along. you get four weapons and at least a half dozen pieces of gear (only 1 upgrade >.<) and you gain skill points to spend in 3 different skill lines. You can hunt, scavenge, and even explore tombs to find salvage that is used to upgrade you stuff. There are relics, documents, GPS caches, and other things to find on the island. Sound is another thing that I don't really buy into but it sounded really good in my opinion. I felt that the replayability was a bit low but it was still there. I said that it was for hardcore gamers because when it took me around 8 hours to beat the game with 67ish% completion. I haven't actually reached 100% yet but I bet that it would take me many more hours to get everything. Overall an amazing game with an amazing story. Having said all that I will bring this book of a review to a close. For all those that actually read the full thing I salute you for your perseverance. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun and beautiful with replay value. Not much hud to get in the way, beautiful environment, must replay to get everything. Love being able to upgrade things. If you die, its always a cool short scene.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Masterful Game This game is a masterpiece. The graphics are beautiful, the sound is crisp and clear even through the normal TV speakers, the story line is rich and the character development for Lara is deep and powerful. The controls are a little difficult at times but it's nothing that will keep you from enjoying the game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun For Anyone I am happy that they went in a new direction with this Tomb Raider and am eagerly awaiting the new one this 2015. I am not the best at FPS and prefer RPG games with an open world feel. Tomb Raider gives me both open world with easy FPS that has improved my game play on my other FPS games. I love the character development, the story line, and the fact that the extras that are included can be returned for or gotten easily during game play. I am a casual gamer who has greatly enjoyed this game and would recommend it to anyone who wants an engaging story line and fun dynamics.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Actually Pretty Good! I loved the story and tense situations. The only thing that bothers me is the constant QTEs. I hate button combos with a vengence. It gets frustrating at times but it makes up for it.
