Tom Clancy's HAWX 2
More arcade game than fighter jet sim.
First, this game has good points as a fighter combat sim. and honestly if you like the first one, good news, the second one is as good or better. If you are looking for a fighter jet "real time" sim. keep looking as this is not like microsoft flight sims. In this game you play several pilots from several countrys. The missions are doable but if you want a closer feel to actual flight you need to get a throttle and control yoke. You will understand what I mean when you attempt to refuel with a 360 controller in under 5 min. while the flight leader is grilling you in the headsets..Like I said in the begining this is not a bad game if you take it on a arcade level and take it for a console jet shooter. The graphics are excellent and if you don't mind having your missions pre-set and you are not expecting a real time fighter jet sim. then you will enjoy this game. If you on the other hand have a knowledge of flight and jet sims you will be disappointed.
HAWX 2 Rocks too!
Keeping this short and to the point... If you like air combat type arcade sims, and you want a more "real world" feel versus "fantasy", this is the game for you!
The first HAWX game was fantastic, great storyline and excellent gameplay mechanics. Tons of stuff to choose from and outfit your plane the way you wanted to. This one has almost none of that. The story is good, as it should be for a Clancy game, everything else however falls dramattically short in every aspect. The bullets you shoot from your main gun are bigger than your cockpit, the controls make you feel like you are flying a hot streak of mollasses on a cold day in antarctica and the AI is slightly above a kindergarten level. The level design is beyond simple and repetitive. Kill some ground targets, switch to air, kill some more ground targets, switch back to the air phase. Wanna pick your loadout and plane you want? Not here. You get what they give you. Period. To go from the first HAWX game to this is like going from a top end system to a 16 bit system. Pretty graphics and good story do not make up for horrible level design and even worse gameplay mechanics. The worst offering the Clancy franchise has ever put out. Avoid and get the first one, much better.
Overall I would say this game is pretty good. The campaign had a very typical, unoriginal story and I didn't really care for it. The combat was fun though and featured a lot of different venues and put you into the posistion of pilots from the UK, USA, and Russia, with other UAV and AC-130 missions. It got pretty annoying at some parts (toward the end)but it isn't that bad. Multiplayer is really fun and includes many perks, weapon loadouts, and aircraft. It also has survival mode, which is ridiculously hard to try on your own. Even though it is less $ than other new games, I would buy it used, wait for a price drop, borrow it etc.
Good all around
Love this game. If you like flying or flying games, then this game is for you. I say this game is better than Ace Combat 6, as this game has a "real world" and new more up-to date Aircraft. The game decent has graphics, planes look realistic, scenario's look good. The game is about 6-10 hours long depending on skill, difficulty setting, and sheer luck. I was able to beat it on the medium difficulty setting in about 7 hours, granted I am a flying gamer, as I own Ace Combat 6. Multiplayer on Hawx 2 is good, with battles, team battles, co-op missions, and a few other options. A must have for people who like hawx 2 or any Ace Combat. There is DLC for this game stages, missions, team battles, and co-op missions. Many options for lasting appeal of this game!
Poor offering for a great series
This game was way too much like an Ace Combat game. Far too much of the borrowing aspect and not enough originality from ubisoft on this one. The only thing about Tom Clancy in this game is the name and you sure do feel it in the gameplay mechanics. To go from HAWX to this is like going from a 360 to a ping-pong table. The missions are far to repetative, its the same thing in every one. Kill some air targets, kill some ground targets, oh wait another wave of air targets popped up when you killed that batch of ground targets, and no more ground targets come up till you kill all those air threats. Come on ubi, you can do better than this. The last mission has you dodging lasers from the sky while trying to knock out nukes. Really? Lasers? Wow, never seen that before in another franchise of simulators have we? The multiplayer aspect is fun but it just seems like too much was put into it and not enough into the single player. And where is the joint missions? No plane customization for missions, no weapon loadout choice, nothing. Only in multiplayer. Till then you get what they give you and you cant change anything. Sorry but gamers like to be able to pick what and how they take on a mission. Not be told. I am a huge fan of the first game, this is just a sorry excuse for a sequel and I would not recomend this to anyone unless you rent it or get it for your kids for a filler game. Avoid.
it looks pretty good i had a ton of fun with the first one lets just see if this game can live up to the first ones expectations
good just needs better planes and more missions
good just needs better planes and more missions. but has kick but muiltiplayer. Made for co-op and live
Hawx 2 is a letdown
Let me start off by saying hawx the first game is fantastic better than ace combat, that being said hawx 2 is a letdown , i feel that they were trying to do something diffrent although the concept is cool , it fails they took out almost everything that made hawx a great game , the fact that u cannot select a diffrent fighter on a mission(u are stuck with a default plain with default weapons u cannot select them) is a huge disappointment and also they controls feel really sketchy. Cmon ubisoft u had a great franchise but i feel u guys focused on innovation rather than focusing on the fun , its not a bad game but when u compare it to the original it falls flat in comparison, im a huge fan of Ace Combat and although the original hawx was better than , i feel they took a step back with this game Hawx 2. if you like arcadey Sims this is for you , i have to say its mediocre at best Stick with Hawx the original its a wayyyy better game . i had i high hopes for this game but shooting down a jet with machine guns is just not as fun especially when u cannot hit targets with missles at some point in the game, it feels more frustrating than anything, also the team aspect is not there, again two steps forward one step back, Hopefully Ubisoft will take a note and fix these issues they have a great franchise here and they can go far with it If they address the issues.
Please the first one was horrible. If I want to get a fighter jet game I will play Ace combat. At least Ace Combat doesn't go all arcade like Hawks. If any one agrees with me that this game should be scrapt and Bandai should make AC7 for 360 please post!
