Test Drive: Unlimited
TDU is a Great Game
Test Drive Unlimited is a great game, and the Graphics are great! To make this an even better game, they could have added more "tracks" instead of open road racing. They are fun, but there should ALSO be closed course tracks as well. Also, they could have used more customization. This includes things like added body parts, such as wings or spoilers, bumpers, body kits, a variety of more rims, etc. I am not at all saying that this game is bad, I'm just saying things to consider for future games. I think that the marketplace car packs are great. They help mix up the variety so its not just the same old cars over and over again. It also adds to the spirit of the game. If you download a car pack with a car you like, you are more likely to challenge yourself to get that car. This is a great game. I would recommend it to any of my friends (already have and they all bought it) or anyone else I know or see that likes racing games, or games in general. This game is really great!
Great game could a little better
First off this game is pretty good. The cars workm just fine and they don't take forever to turn or react to your control. But one hting is the cars are really, REALLY overpriced. I mean $1,000,000 (McLaren F1) for a car that a motorcycle ($30,250). Alos the paint jobs are also very over priced. For a McLaren F1 $50,000 for ONE paint job! But one the good side the graphic aren't too glichy and the sound is really good. Also if you want to customize your car all you can do is choose the package. You can't like choose what kind of engine or whatever. Also if you just hit ONE single car you automaticly are wanted. But the bad part is when your trying to get away from the cops all yo9u have to do is drive off the road and they won't chase you into the bushes and stuff. Also the race have some unblieveably fast if it wasn't for me have a fast car i would have lost. I mean 128 miles in 60 min. that's like 30 seconds a mile. But overall this game is awsome and i would recommend it to anybody. Go racin'.
A thurough review of TDU
TDU is an open world racing game that features a good variety of cars from exotics to good old American muscle. You start off the game by picking a character that you will race, customize, and of course win money with. After choosing your "Driver" you immediately get on a plane to Hawaii. And once you land you get off and go to a rental agency for a car. And if you've guessed right you then go to a real estate agency which with about two hundred thousand buy your dream house. Although there are only two houses that you can purchase they are still very nice houses, and after purchasing your dream house you buy your very own car. Then the fun part, you start you're racing career buy doing courier missions, transports, circuit races, and running from cops which is a *huge* challenge if your pursuit level is maxed out. Now the summary. TDU is a very fun game that even the casual gamer will enjoy. The controls are reasonable, the graphics are breath taking, and there must be hundreds of cars to choose from. But if you're looking for a sim please try forza, but if you like any type of racing then this is the game for you!
TDU is a Winner for sure!!!
From right off the bat Test Drive Unlimited offers something that very few, if any, other racing games offer. Customizable characters, open area housing, and tons of vehicles to choose from. With this and the many possibilities with vehicles and hundreds of miles of open road made to scale, be prepared for an adventure. It's unique characteristics such as these that help this game stand out superbly from others. You start off at the airport in a line of tourists on your way to Hawaii in which you get to pick one of them as your main character. Your character is your center in the game because everywhere you go and whatever you ride in throughout Test Drive Unlimited, your actual character will be seen. So when you go to the many clothing stores available, be sure to reflect your personality through your character. Car selection in Test Drive Unlimited is a dream! Famous manufacuters such as Lamborghini, Porche, Saleen, Maserati, and many more appear to tickle your high performance itch. There's even motorcycle companies like Kawasaki, Ducati and others for your excitement! To purchase these vehicles you drive to the car shops themselves and shop there inventory in there nicely decorated car show rooms. But these cars aren't cheap. Can't afford to buy anything. Don't worry, you can always go to car rental shop and rent that fantasy car for a fraction of the purchase price for a set time. Still can't find what you want. Try the tons of vehicles Test Drive Unlimited has for download online. In order to buy these magnificent vehicles you're going to need some money! That's where the racing and challenges play their part. There are over 100 races and challenges that will give you hours and hours of fun in the streets in Test Drive Unlimited. That makes perfect sense with multiple events taking place on over 1000 miles of open road made to scale. 50 mile races truly feels like 50 miles! Races and events are separated into classes based on vehicle performance ranging from F to A. The sounds of Test Drive Unlimited are very focused on having a good time. I found myself riding around in free roam with my friends online just 'jamming' and having fun! The different radio stations offer a good listen to satisfy anybody's ear. Those sounds go well with a drive through Test Drive Unlimited when you're enjoying the scenery. The graphics and detail of the game are wonderful with deep shrub and wildlife detail. Driving off road may provide as much enjoyment for some as much as the pavement does for others! I know it does for me. In short, Test Drive Unlimited is a game for anyone ages 10 and above who would enjoy fast paced, high action racing, objective based side challenges, and the quest for riches all packed into a tiny disc. I'm sure you will have just as much fun playing Test Drive Unlimited as I did so be sure to get it. ENJOY!
This game is the best racing game out there.
This game is the absolute best racing game I've ever played. The graphics are amazing, and so is the detail of the cars. Everything about them is exact and precise. Gameplay is awesome for people who have a love for cars as I do. They are real-life cars in real-life locations, so in a way, this game is as real as it gets. Its very realistic and I think thats one of the big things the makers of the game were going for. There are different levels of competition when it comes to the racing, but for casual driving its a one-size-fits-all kind of thing, you just have to choose your own speed, or a slower car. You can also buy new houses, buy and change clothes and much more. But to sum this all up, this game is perfect for the causal or hardcore gamer, depending on how you want to play it. You can go for more of a real-life simulation game or an adrenaline pumping racer. But for either one, this a great racing game and I cannot wait for Test Drive Unlimited 2 and expect alot out of it because of how great the first one really is.
Excellent, but not perfect...
This is one of the best racing games I ever played! Overall, Atari could've done more work with this game, here are a few examples: 1) while in a pursuit, if a cop tries to broadside you, it counts as you hitting him, and you have to pay for it. 2) There is no car damage on the player's car, all damage is done on street signs and civilian cars. 3) There is hardly any car customization. Sure some cars get a huge variety of colors, a few interior choices, not a lot though, and hardly any cars allow you to change the rims.
As a result from this game, I am pleased, but not satisfied completely. I hope Atari has greatly improved atleast the pursuit bug, and car customization limitation.
While on a good side, Atari did do pretty good to simulate real experiences, hitchhikers, car deliveries, etc. Also, there is no "NOS" in this game, which I really liked, because that means the AIs can't get that cheap shot to get ahead of you. I loved this game far more than any of the Midnight Clubs and Need for Speeds! Again, this was the best of all racing games I have, and I just cant wait til February!!!
Test drive unlimited is the greatest game for the 360. Ive had it since december 2006 and i can still play this over any other racing game that has come out. Its not about customizing but more about living and racing. You get your own house, get your own clothes, and have all these classy cars, not cheap cars that you need to fix up to make it any better. If you like games such as Need for Speed or Juiced 2...then you're not gonna enjoy this. But if you like PGR4 or Gran Turismo, for all the playstation people, then you'll enjoy this even more. There are a lot of cars and the best thing about it, all the open road. If you don't feel like racing then you can just cruise the 1000+ open miles and trust me, you will never get bored of this game. It's worth the money so get it now if you haven't already..even though there is a new one coming out its probably a good 6 months away so get this game and trust me you won't regret it. I know i didnt.
this game is perfect for anyone who likes racing
great for any console especialy xbox 360. i have had this game for 4 years and i am still addicted to it. this game is 1000000000 times better than any other racing game. over 1000 miles of open road, and more things to buy than just cars. of you play these racing games for purely costomizing cars, DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!!!! you can buy houses, cars, clothes, bikes, classic cars, its amazing. my favorite thing to do is just free ride. test drive unlimited 2 comes out in febuary 2011 and is supposed to be way better so you might as well wait. there are tons of free xbox downloads for this game so buy them all!!!!!!!
A Welcomed Experience
If you are a racing fan or a vehicle fan in anyway I suggest you go and pick up a copy and give it a try. First off the graphics are not to bad for a fairly older title, although you may have the occasional problem with textures popping on screen when you are driving. The cars look nice along with the environments but sometimes looking into the green forests can be a bit hectic when you are going 180mph. The sound effects made from the cars are nice and they suit each different type of vehicle and the gear you are in nicely. At first though the game starts off fairly easy and as you progress, the races eventually get harder and harder and you will need to purchase faster and faster vehicles. That brings up the case of variety and boy is their plenty of variety from your simple Dodges to Ferrari and all the way into Ducati motorcycles and back again, you can always find the right vehicle you need. It is sad however that the only vehicle customization is the paint and in a few cases the rims. It would be nice to see somebody customization. The controls are fairly standard such as most racers and are easy to learn. The interface is not bad except for the GPS which is sometimes hard to see when you are trying to find a specific road that has not been drove on (GPS marks all roads driven in blue). TDU also includes police, which are fairly useless because every time you hit any vehicle, you instantly have a wanted level and it can be very frustrating if you are in the middle of a race but then again they are pretty easy to lose. The online community is fairly solid, in which you can clearly see others in free-ride mode and it is quite easy to jump into online races with others. Achievements stack up as fairly easy to get but take time. Please pick up a copy and enjoy.
The greatest racer that no one recognizes.
This game is great. It isn't something you can beat in a day, or even a week. You really have to take time to beat this. They put so much into it that there is almost too much content. You can race, do missions, or just drive for the heck of it. However, it is only good for single player. The xbox live playyerbase for this game is extremely small. So if live is important to you, dont get it, otherwise, a GREAT racer
