Great Stealth Game!
Having grown up with the Tenchu franchise, and being as pleased as I am with all of the other games I had to buy this. Sure the game gets lots of criticism for A.) a very linear story with minimal boss fights, and B.) You can't play as any of the Azuma Ninjas we have grown to love. On the contrary, the linear story is a realistic to Japanese Warning States tactics, but dull. However you can have a boss battle at the end of any assassination mission! Bosses are the only enemies in the game you get more points for fighting than stealth killing, and they all have a ton of health, unique weapons, and fight different. Also with the lack of old characters returning to the game, I found it quite easy to make my character look like anyone from the series I wanted which throws a twist to things. Overall, very good game and tons of replay value. For gamers who like shadow based stealth, lots of tricks you can pull out of your sleeves, and creative ways to kill drowsy henchmen.

Great Stealth
I have not played the other Tenchu titles on other systems but I love this game. It was one of the first stealth games that I've played and I thought the game was a blast! The graphics are not next gen but I believe the gameplay makes up for that. I like the slight RPG elements of building up your Ninja! After awhile you'll be running up on guys silently snapping their necks, hanging from ceilings, jumping off of roofs slicing bros with your katanas! Go in expecting this game to look just ok and the controls take a little bit to get used to, but once you do that you will love what you can do!

Best Ninja Game ever!
I just love the game it is totaly awesome like when you can sneak attack and pick up dead bodies,it is just totaly awesome!

Ninja Assassin I kill you
This game was fun for me it. If you don't like repetition don't play this game it is extremely repetitive. The sound is all Japanese, and the graphics are more suited for original xbox, but the gameplay is addictive its best when played online with friends. This is the only tenchu game ive played and i think it was good but there could have been a huge amount of improvements that would have gotten it a ten from me. I love this game so its hard just not flat out giving it a 10.

Bein a NiNja is awesome
Tenchu Z is like any other Tenchu game WITH YOUR OWN CUSTOM CHARACTER!Which is great, because there's a lot of stuff you can do. The gameplay is the usual. Sneak around. Stab samurai through back. Run like you found a grenade. The controls are really good considering Tenchu is normally a Playstation franchise. The graphics aren't the best on XBOX 360 but, they're pretty good. The music is a really calm Japanese melody which amazingly doesn't get boring! There is multiplayer but, it's online only, which sucks. Anyways.....if you like the Tenchu series or ninjas in general,then this is the game for you!I'm hoping they'll make some downloadable content soon! I highly recommend this game to anyone who would wonder how cool it would to be a NiNja!!!!!!

Tenchu Z review
Well I know this is an old game by now and most have probably forgotten about this game but here is my review. When I first bought this game, I had thought well Tenchu should be good to play until I can get more games along down the line. Indeed its a good game but has afew problems. First off, the sotryline is an ok one, but I think they should have it more along the lines of all are the same just different timing. Anyways, the Graphics are great but still need more work. The sounds are just fine. There are many pro's and cons to this game. Pro's- This game keeps Rikimaru in the game You create your own character and keep updating them along the way of the game There are some new scenery and new boss's Con's- Its not a 2 player game. Sure it can go live but no Co-op on one xbox and you cant fight a friend like Wrath of Heaven. Its one per xbox for xbox live. There is no Fighting eachother, its mainly just Co-op on Xbox live. All in all if I was to Rate this game Id give it an 7 out of 10.

It is what it is.
Okay, Tenchu Z is on the Xbox 360 even though its graphics make it seem like it is on the original Xbox. That is a part of the Tenchu series. I would not believe it to be a tenchu game if the graphics were different. The game makes up for the graphics by allowing the player to make a character of their own. In the past you selected from Rikimaru or Ayame or a secret character you unlocked. They included an RPG aspect into Tenchu Z by adding character customization, unlocking of clothes, items, and abilities. You can upgrade your abilities through three levels on some. You can change your stats between health, strength, and agility without any penalty. Certain abilities require certain levels of these stats to be able to use. Let alone to the character customization there are 50 different levels to play with 3 different difficulties for each. These levels range from being at night to the middle of the day. There are several different maps that you play on, but some levels are the same maps. To make up for this, you start in a different location sometimes, different times of day witch determine how hard or easy it is for an enemy to see you, and the enemies will be placed in different locations. The AI of the enemies is very limited. The game focuses on stealth more than anything else so the AI's are not supposed to be able to hold their own in an upfront fight. It is meant for you to be able to take them down easily if detected or to be able to run and hide until they return to back to their posts. The enemies are always in the same locations for that specific mission, they always walk the same path or turn the same directions. There are also innocents in the game which you are not supposed to kill and if you do, you get a pretty large points penalty which takes about 3 silent assassinations of guards to make up for. There are several ways to kill your enemies. The game focuses on stealth so the best way to kill are stealth kills where you grab an enemy before they have time to react to you and you drag them to the shadows to kill them or just kill them on the spot with one attack. There are also several types of items to help you. Shuriken, smoke bombs, flash bombs, caltrops, blowguns and many more to either kill or distract your enemies. The achievements are relatively easy to get. There are specific enemies to kill in each level that gets you an achievement for every 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 of them. Stealth kills gets you achievements and unlocks skills for you to use. Completing the games unlocks clothes and achievements. The save screen in the game tells you how much of the game you have completed with a percentage indicator. Tenchu Z is a very realistic ninja game that takes place in feudal Japan. You don't have any superhuman abilities, though some skills seem a little far fetched. Your enemies are not superhuman in any way. The game is based on stealth and that is the only way to get the top rating for each mission. It has 50 missions with several different types of mission, including assassinations, collecting bombs, stealing plans, rescuing someone, reaching a checkpoint, and following someone.

Inside the game
Well... ill have to say i have never played the other tenchu z's besides this one and this game vs Ninja Gaiden this one is better i like how u can run around with a sword and jump down on enemies with your sword also using bombs i wasn't thinking they were gonna have that , that was pretty cool and i like how u can throw your dart super far to attack an enemies and it not tellling u where to go like having a bunch of block offs and fallen trees in the way it has some of that but not alot ...it6s cool how you can ur like a spell to go invise.......AND it is AWSOME how you can creat your own ninja but you can only make your face and your outfit and you can make your own ability's and you get to also make a partner which is really cool same with the face and out fit but if your a girl or a guy it is gonna be the opposite sex after that its of you go starting your game!!!

Not what was expected
I love all the previous Tenchu games on playstation 2 such as Tenchu Wrath of Heaven and Tenchu Fatal Shadows but this game does not do justice to either one of it's predicesors. If your a fan of the Tenchu series this is not the game for you. Their is absolutly no story to this game and instead of focusing on having cool stealth kills the creaters were more worried about being able to put a pin wheel in your characters mouth. Sure you can completely customize your ninja but that wasn't what this game needed. They should have continued with Rikimariu and Azume becauae those games were a lot of fun and way more challenging than Tenchu Z. Tenchu Z has no actual boss fights until the middle mission and the very end and the rest of the game is completely repetative. Their is only about twelve to fifteen locations in the game but they make it look like it was fifty individual levels over a hudge map. I was horribly mistaken. The only reason I didin't give this game a one was because I did kind of enjoy the shading featers they have incorperated in the game. It kind of reminds me of Splinter Cell in a way because you can take your sword out and run around with it but you can be seen more easily than if your sword is put away. They even have a shade meter like Splinter Cell. Other than that this game was a hudge disapointment.

Tenchu Z has a simple story. You go to the map, choose the difficulty, and then the mission. None of them are too impossible, but at least they provide some challenge; even if half of it comes from the errors in the game itself. Stealth is a large part of this game, since the combat is lacking. If you do alert enemies, you find yourself running away more than you would if the engine was better.The complete Japanese voice over is nice, but can get annoying after a while. Having to sit there and hear something you cannot understand for hours is tedious.The graphics are late last generation. They could have been a lot better, and the game would have been. The A.I. is very strange. At point you can stand in the slightest shadow and no one will see you, but at other times you will be attacked out of no where at all. The price tag is fair for the game, so it is worth buying if you like a stealth, ninja, run-around-and-cut-things sort of game. Don't expect Ninja Gaiden though.
