The Real Beat Em Up Is BACK!!!
In 1988 Namco released a game call Splatterhouse, one and maybe the FIRST GAME to have a Parental warning and one of the First Beat em Ups, and now 22 years later IS BACK!!!
THAT'S RIGHT THE ORIGINAL, GORE, AND VIOLENT GAME IS BACK, AND BETTER THAN EVER!
It is what it is
It is what it is. A poorly put together hack em slash em game with tons of gore. I liked the older games when I was younger and sure it put a smile on my face when I started it up, but I guess now that I’m older I want more out of my games than some heavy metal to listen to while I smash heads in over and over and over. The game is very repetitive and the commentary from the mask gets old fast. All and all the only thing I liked about this game was the soundtrack. They have a decent list of main stream metal bands like Lamb of God and a few others. If you find this in the bargain bin and you need a few hours of your life to waste away then go ahead and pick it up. If not save your money for a better game
Splatterhouse: the only reason to buy an Xbox.
I'm a Wii man myself; and have nevered heard of the Splatterhouse house franchise until late in the summer of 2008; When I played the first game for the Turbo Grafix16; I was hooked to it. I could see why this game is considered one of the best old school series that rarely is ever talked about. When I heard that Namco was creating a Remake of the first game in 2009. I literly cried tears of joy, and started to save up my money to buy a Xbox 360. From the screen shots that I have seen; It's going to be a great and gory game that will make fans of the series drool, and make people who play the games for the first time become addicted to the game. personally, I would love to see some of the old bosses to make their reapearence as bosses for this game( seeing that the final boss of the first game does. I can't wait to see who else Rick has to Kill again.) Overall: buy this game; it will be worth the money in the amount of zombie killing fun you'll have.
this game is fantastic and it's a gore feast, and to give you an idea of how gory it is think of the suffering but twice as gory. Now don't expect this game to win any awards, because I have a feeling this is going to be a sleeper game that nobody will think about. This game is a remake of an old NES game and it wins me over. Now I'm not a metal fan in fact I hate metal but I do know good bands when I see it and it has a great selection and it goes wonderfully with the game. You can do some great finishers on the... well I will just say monsters because I'm not really sure what they are. Also you can use weapons even rip arms off and beat them senseless with it however sadly you can't use everything as a weapon, but that's something you can look over. What I don't like is the fact that it does an absolute awful job of telling you how to play your better off looking at the controls on the options menu. The other thing I don't like is how you can't change the difficulty setting during the game in fact you have to start the game all over again if you find it to hard. All in all this was an awesome game try it and fill your gory needs
Hard, Bloody, and Full of Hatred
The game is good.... It has really intense moments and then moments that you want to rip your hair out in frustration. First off this is not a childrens game!!! There is endless amounts of blood. Heavy metal music that is not child appropriate, and images that will give small children nightmares. The gameplay is similar to God of War but with a more M rated twist. The story is decent and it kept me entertained. The level of difficulty is ridiculous. Though the game has multiple levels of difficulty to choose from they are really all the same...HARD. The only thing holding this game back from being great are the checkpoints. You may be in an intense fight after you watch a cut-scene. Then you might die....then you must work your way back up to the cut-scene. Watch it, then attempt the fight all over again. It doesn't sound that bad but believe me it is worse than I make it sound. All in all if you like metal music, and blood, and more blood, then this game is for you.
Blood and Metal!! What's not to like??
Overall a great game for going pretty much unannounced unless you were looking for it. TONS of blood and gore. Lots of language and some nudity in the game. It is pretty much just a smash em up and be creative on how to kill The Corrupted, but it never feels old (at least the first play through), because you are constantly unlocking new moves and switching between weapons and fist and mask moves. I just finished it and it did not disappoint for me. I love heavy metal music and it blended in very well with the mass destruction and blood shed. The commentary from the mask is pretty amusing and helps with the background noise when fighting or traveling. Overall, if you enjoyed the older ones back in the day, I personally believe this game does them justice and doesn't destroy the name. Hope this review may have been helpful in some way!
From the gameplay that I've seen of Splatterhouse, I couldn't be more hyped. The gameplay looks fun and brutal, the action over-the-top, and gore rivaling that of Dead-Alive. I don't exactly expect the game to sell well. I see it targeted at the horror movie buff audience and people who like over-the-top violence. Not exactly a bad thing, I just don't expect it to sell well. But this will be a great game. Already pre-ordered. I expect you to do the same. >:D
Really fun game
I love this game can't stop playing it.Graphic's are great lots of blood and gore and a metal soundtrack what's not to love about that.Gameplay is good controls are easy ect. It is lots of fun and gets tough as you go along.I never played the original and always wanted to play this game now I have and all the reviews are correct this game rocks hard.I bought it after reading all the reviews and for 8 bucks it is well worth it.
Worth a Good Look
Looks to be a great nod to the old school horror game. To those new to the series, think Mad World(Wii) gameplay in a horror house. Side note: The developers said, at E3, the game would include the previous games as an unlockable content. 4 games in one box!
first of this is the bloodiest game i have ever played. i have yet to finish it since i just got it today but so far i am very pleased with what i got. i recommend this for any gamer who loves blood and gore and metal.
