The game story is stupid, They didnt but alot of time into the mechanics of the game movement is horrible between cover its like the game wasnt made to be in cover and instead of covering and vaulting being one button its another which when moving from cover to cover its really annoying when you sprint you have so sense of direction movement is very stiff this isnt no gears where you can sprint a direct where you are going to it is releastic for the fact that on the harder difficulties 3 shots will kill you but the enemy ai is extremely accurate and will sometimes shoot through cover, sadly they also made you team of 2 guys basically useless and unable to kill unless you keep telling them to shoot someone had high hopes for this game but was a major let down games arent what they use to be costing a whopping 64.19 for like 5-8 hrs of offline gameplay. if you want a good game buy max payne 3 only good thing about spec ops is there is some good music during firefights
Rated 9 out of 10 by WiseCrusader Epic story twists
What can I say about spec ops the line? Well I guess you can say I'm a little bias since I immediately thought this game was awesome before even entering the main menu. Why? Well Jimmy Hendrix playing the national anthem was just surprising and awesome at the same time. Menu music just doesnt come any more awesome then that.
Outside that I found the game play pretty fun overall. Kinda like gears of war but not as smooth and polished but still good. The true highlights of this game (besides the epic menu music) is the story and how the game unfolds. I dont wanna spoil anything but play the game out dont judge it right away. Some crazy crazy stuff happens and in the end your just gonna be totally shocked. Trust me nobody and I mean nobody will ever see what happens in this game coming.
Rated 9 out of 10 by stlrox The most frustrating intense game AND I LOVE IT!!
Finally, a game that reminds me of the first time I played EA's "Black" on XBOX years ago. The campaigns are SOOO intense. I mean c'mon, Snipers at every direction, Indestructable ELITE soldiers coming at you from one side and 50 cal guns on the other, and you having to basically neutralize them all within seconds or die? On the same level? How could no one not like this. I broke 2 controllers throwing them on the ground in disgust because of the difficulty. I was constantly on the edge of my seat in battle, and wait. ACT NOW and we will throw in a blinding sandstorm where you can't see enemies until they are on top of you. HOLY COW !! I don't play multi player and basically play rentals for the single campaign. If this is you and you like shooters you won't be disappointed.\

Spec Ops: The Line is a very simple game. Three military guys go into a deserted landscape looking for survivors. Soon enough, everybody wants to hunt them down. The game is very challenging and quite frankly, not a ton of fun. The shooting is fairly stiff, animations are poor, and the game gets repetitive after the first two hours. This would be bad, if the game didn't have an incredible story and characters. However, it does. Now, at the beginning of the game, all three of these guys are fairly generic. They are friends, make immature jokes, and are your typical military meat heads. Around the half way mark is when they start to mature. Once something major occurs, they begin to break. They argue, scream, punch each other, and grow sick and tired of one and other. Spec Ops: The Line is a character study, and a very good one at that. You feel like you're in this situation and struggling with them. At the end, the game is a psychological thriller more than a military third person shooter. Overall, Spec Ops is a good game. It is almost great, but falls out of reach. The storyline is great, gameplay is good(but not great) and it is repetitive. I recommend you purchase this if you are into deep, thrillers.
Rated 9 out of 10 by Foner314 A true military shooter
Spec Ops: the line is a game truly for hardcore gamers Spec Ops: the line story starts as an 3 man squad walks in Dubai once a big city of life now a sandstorm nightmare. As Captain Walker the character you play as followed by two other soldiers(Adams, Lugo) following one mission to find a M.I.A leader of the 33rd army Colonel John Konrad as soon as they take a leap in to Dubai Walker will soon see the horrors of what Dubai has become too. The game is action packed and with a dark yet amazing campaign with a twist at the end of the single-player. This is campaign driven game and it is a leap from the cliché story lines of other games and how Spec Ops: the line is laid out sets the mood for an amazing game :D (quote multiplayer is ok but not worth the online play) 9/10
Rated 0 out of 10 by AHHHH Looks amazing
This game looks very cool and innovative, with different options and strategies for every situation, whether to avoid a major firefight by sneaking past, engaging head on with full force, or putting a bullet through a window and collapsing a sand dune into the lobby of the Burj Al-Arab. My second favorite thing is the location. Dubai itself is one of the most amazing cities in the world, but a post apocalyptic Dubai after a massive sandstorm? That's something else. All I want is a video of a length segment of a mission and possibly a look at a multiplayer or co-op mode. That would make my day. Please don't let this be another Medal of Honor, Black Ops, Homefront, Rage, or Modern Warfare 3, or in other words, a game that was all hype and no content.
Rated 10 out of 10 by Barrow34 Great Gameplay with a Great Story
The campaign in this game is fantastic. A lot of games will have above average gameplay but usually there story is not much to talk about. Spec ops differs in everyway. The story alone is worth playing this game. This is not a perfect third person cover system like Gears of War, but you can't complain about it. The voice acting in particular is great. Nolan North does a great job as captain Walker and his commrades Lugo and Adams have great voice acting also. One complaint is the multiplayer. It is terrible! But don't let that turn you away from buying this game. It will be one of those games maybe not a lot of people will play but when you run in to someone that has you'll have a lot of fun discussing what you thought the story was.
Rated 8 out of 10 by SnakeEyes91 Strong mature narrative for single player
After just completing the game I have to say the story and narrative are amazing. This is a mature title for certain and the issues touched upon during the campaign continue to reiterate that mature overtone. This is war and your living through it like you haven't in past games in the genre. Actions have consequences and you see first hand what happens. War is horrible and this game depicts it in that way. I can see why it is from the writer of Apocolypse Now. Well acted and very well done. If your looking for a good 3rd person military action game with a great single player narrative that will have you thinking about what your actually doing then this game is for you. If you want another cookie cutter shooter then I recommend a rent to see if you might like this more mature game. For me was a well done game. You actually will have to use cover and tactics to survive the game. Mutliplayer is there but haven't really done much past the entry level seems fun and entertaining with a neat cover mechanic and team based play emphasis with different classes of players including officer class which will enhance fellow team members if they are close to one another. Get for the single player and enjoy it. Well worth the price of admission in my opinion.

This game.... wow. What an amazing game. The story was incredible. It was everything that COD tries and tries to be. Chubby Checker blushed after all the twists. I hope they make another one and it is just as good as this one!
