This game isnt so good.
This game has a very short story line. Its probably the same thing always. Lets not even talk about legend mode. The character creater was great, if you where a girl. Even the male character's clothes where girly. It needed more clothes. The arcade mode wasnt fun eater. Legend mode was the most disappointing part. Just D: And the combo list is impossible to read.

Better for Multiplayer
Overall SoulCalibur V is a great game, has good gameplay, amazing character customization, and pretty good music. The only problem is that the single player can be beaten in a hour.

Good Game, Short Story Mode, Very Good online
This game is really fun and awesome its story mode is really short and all you do is fight people and that is about it. Online is very fun because there are always a lot of people online and it does not take long for somebody to play with you. Overall really good game.

Soul Calibur 5: Secrets Secluded From the Swords!
SC5 is an Awesome Advance From it's Predecessor: SC4! The only thing thats not to my intrest is the Story Line, because It only MAJORLY focuses on Patroklos, Pyrrha, & Tira- with a few sightings of ZWEI, Viola, Lexia, Natsu, Maxi, Ivy, Xiba, & Hilde. I LOVE the HUGE expansion of customization options & Some of the newer characters spark a certain Fascination in me.(-I only wish It went more in-depth with their stories & history.) Overall: AWESOME GAME! [Please Note: Opinion Info Based on Xbox 360 Version.]

This is a great game
I received this game from my nephew because he told me that he doesn't want it anymore, and i was shocked, this is a great game because i can make my own character and i can customize in-game characters outfits, some of the characters are okay, but others sucks, like Maxi, for example, he is powerful but he doesn't have any good combos that i can use, and there are others that i don't like, and the other thing i don't like about this one is that there aren't enough female characters on here, because those kinda characters is what i use all the time, and the story mode is too short for me, but overall, this is a great game because of the graphics, if it wasn't for that, this game would suck, the game play is okay, if you know how to do every combo , but i would suggest this game to anyone that wants hardcore games, and collectors that collect soul caliber series games.

A must-have for fighting game fans.
As a fan of Soulcalibur since Soulcalibur II, I had big expectations for this game and Namco did not let me down. It's one of the most fun games I've ever played and, with it's flashy presentation, almost as fun to watch. There are plenty of unique characters and the ability to customize those characters (as well as create your own). Whether your a hardcore fighting game aficionado or a casual gamer just looking for a fun game to play with friends, Soulcalibur V is easy to recommend.

not what i thought it would be
this game wasnt what i thought it would be most of the characters from earlier games were removed and some characters moves were readjusted and that made me return the game this game isnt any better than the fourth one namco shouldnt try to replace the orginal versions

Good engine, but where's the rest of the game?
Most of the reviews on here seem to either be extremely disappointed people calling the game awful or online junkies saying ZOMG YOU GUYZ BEST GAME EVAR! Well it's neither awful nor anywhere near perfect. I'd give it a 7, which for me means it was good enough to put several hours into, but had some serious room for improvement. First off - the fighting engine. There's a super meter now which is a questionable choice, but the fights flow well and this is the most balanced Soul Calibur title to date. Next up - graphics and sound. Absolutely beautiful, Project Soul does it again. Finally - everything else. This is why series fans are so angry. Most of the story is missing, it was supposed to be much longer but Bamco wanted money more than a quality title so Project Soul was rushed and actually still has unused voice recordings. The story takes about 2 hours and the rest of the modes are quite bland, Arcade is just a 6-battle time trial and Legendary Souls and Quick Battle are just around to grind achievements/practice against psychic AI. Also, things are just missing. You can't turn off the timer, or set handicaps, they still didn't bring back team battle, there's no mode where weapons have unique attributes, no character profiles/endings, some characters just vanished with no explicit story reason, etc. The online mode, however, has been greatly expanded and that's all some of you care about, and fighting games are always great for local play. If you have friends to play with, buy the game, if you don't, rent/borrow it first.

A huge disappointment...
I've been a fan of this series since I was a little kid, having played all except Soul Calibur 3. I greatly enjoyed all previous games, and still play SC4 every once in a while. When I found out that a fifth game was coming out, and with Ezio Auditore in it nonetheless, I was quite excited. However, upon starting the game, my excitement quickly dwindled to severe disappointment. The story is short and boring, with confusing transitions. The characters aren't very likeable, play awkwardly, and their backgrounds aren't very fleshed out. Most of the familiar characters have been replaced with annoying kids, and most of those remaining only have short appearances in the storyline. After the story is completed, there are a couple offline modes, which are all basically arcade modes with some changes, and online versus mode. The creation isn't as important as in the last game, as different pieces of clothing and weapons no longer have stats or bonuses. Overall, I was very dissatisfied and hope that if Namco-Bandai decides to make any more Soul Calibur games, they do a lot better than this.
