Rated 8 out of 10 by Skyarch Not much difference and major sound issues
I love Silent Hill, 2 and 3 are my absolute favorites. So of course I bought the hd collection because my PS2 died and it's two games in one, so why not? I can't tell the difference in terms of the graphics, it doesn't look that much different. Of course I hadn't played either game for a while before I bought this, but it just doesn't look any better. The only major issue I've had is the sound. I've had some major issues with the music going on and off at random, especially when I pause. I would approach an enemy and the music would come on but then it would stop and start at random, and no it wasn't because the enemy was running away. Sometimes it felt like the music was skipping and was very glitchy. All in all it's great to be able to play them again and even though there are sound issues, I think It's worth buying especially at $40.

To those who arent sure whether or not to buy downpour, or atleast rent it, some of that is due to the bad idea of releasing it and the hd collection 7 days apart. Most will go with the HD collection because they loved those 2 games, and its going to be amazing to see how it changed for modern times. Very stupididea that is going to cause downpour to have week sales for a few weeks, I on the other hand have Downpour and am going to buy the HD collection next week as well. If youre in doubt about downpour, I can personally say its been amazing and haunting and has new types of enemies, etc, so its something fresh and new, and so far it really delivered. There are some issues, but thats just how games are...I highly recommend both, because as far as I am in the game (20% ish) its been a great experience all around and a fresh one too.

I remember the countless hours of Silent Hill with one of my buddies, the one game I am ok watching him play for hours on end. I think Silent Hill was great in near every game they made, I played too, I really liked Shattered Memories, I like Silent Hill a lot, but I am disappointed there is only Silent Hills 2 and 3 included. Can you even call it a collection with only 2 games included? I would have really been impressed if Silent Hills 1 and 4 were in it as well, maybe Shattered Memories would be a stretch? It could have also given them a reason to charge the full $60 as well. They were probably going to, but they had to cut short, probably to make up for Downpour, I haven't played it yet, but from what I hear, it isn't all too great.

I can't believe that Silent Hill 1' Silent Hill 4 and the PSP Silent Hill Game they ported from PSP to PS2 aren't included in this. Technically speaking, it would be easier for them to bring Silent Hill 1 up to HD than it was for them to remake PS2 games' and you can't really call it a collection with only two games, especially when there are so many other Silent Hill games they could have included. It also bears mentioning that EA brought their Wii Dead Space game to PS3, and it would have been a nice touch to include Shattered Memories in this collection and bring that game to a wider audience. I'm not getting this, I still own all the PS2 Silent Hill games, and I'm not about to shell out $40 for an incomplete collection.

I am a huge fan of the Silent hill games..So when the HD collection came out I couldn't wait to get it since I never had the 3rd Silent hill game for my collection..Sadly When I got the game and started to play it there where so many problems with the sound and how glitchy the game play is I stopped playing it.Konami said that they would be releasing patches to fix these problems,So I have been waiting for the patch to be released to be able to play the game without all the issues.
Konami released the patch for the PS3 about a month ago and we where told that the 360 patch would be out in a few more weeks, well now Konami has said there will be no patch for the Xbox 360..

As far as Im concerned the only good Silent Hill games are the ones that came out for the psONE, PS2 and the first xbox, excluding 4 of course. I heard you can disable the dubbing they did but if thats not true I think I'll have a laugh at how stupid Eddie sounds XD As for this downpour game thats just a wait and see if they can be more orginal with this one but I'm not getting my hopes up. Last thing I have say is they cant provide an answer as of to why they keep moving the release date when gamespot asked them about it so who knows whats going on over there.

With all of these HD collections and games coming out it's hard to keep up nowadays. I've always loved the Silent Hill games. After seeing this sitting in the store, I always yelled for joy. Both games look incredible, and the sound is even creepier than before. The new voices for Silent Hill 2 are a little strange, but nonetheless you have the option to choose between the new voices and the old voices. In a nutshell - same scary from Silent HIll 2 and 3, but a new fresh look and feel to the games.

I have never played the original games, but I loved the concept. The story is not only great but very mind bending. The gameplay is great with the one downfall of camera angle. I wish it was more like the third person in silent hill homecoming or downpour. The games are both very long, and at times it may require a guide. But they are both very great and scary. Also you get to see the greatest creation ever added to anything horror...Pyramid Head!

What can I say..... These games are just like I remembered them and my memories of these games are fond. If you enjoyed playing these games in there glory days chances are you will enjoy them today. The graphical changes are not as noticeable as I had hoped. In fact I am not sure the letters HD should even be on the box. I mean whats the point of presenting low resolution tiles and textures in HD?

These are both two good games it's like the Metal Gear Solid Collection. It doesn't include the first game. I don't know the reasoning for excluding the first game. Although, I do know that Hideo Kojima stated for MGS that he felt that one deserved it's own individual re-design. Anyways, the fact that this has been pushed back again for the 3rd time makes me skeptical to continue reserving games.
