For people who REALLY want to learn!
This Game is awesome! I bought this game back in Jan or Feb of 2012 and I am getting a lot better! I have never taken any lessons and was completely unfamiliar with guitars. Here's the catch though, you have to really want to play, it takes a lot of practice and determination. That's why i knew i would like the game because it keeps you interested with constant feedback which allows you to constantly monitor your progress, and if you need help there are videos and technique challenges which instruct you on various skills , rather than just sitting at home trying to play a few notes getting bored really fast. There are also several arcade style games to practice with, some i liked and some i didn't really care for. I have let several of my family play it and they really don't care for it because to get good takes several days or weeks of constant practice. The songs are fun, and there are new songs available for download every 2 weeks. So if you want to learn and are willing to put the hours of practice in, or can already play, then this game is for you!

good for some not for others
I dont like that alot of the songs have that rolling stones sound and there isnt enof punk in there like green day and some blink 182 thoses two bands were great in the 90s and there easy too heck there still easy and sound great. maybe when they put other songs out there it will have a better feeling for me.

Its really what I expected it to be
I knew nothing about the guitar and five minutes into it I felt like i was a rock star the game is well made it doesnt have that teachy preach tutorial feel to it. Its more of a learn as you go and its just like guitar hero you just some how magicaly figure it out the next day. I will never forget right after I played the first song like a hundred times I used the amp option and just played the tune out to myself thats all I wanted is to learn a couple of tunes and i did. This is waaaaayyyyy better learning wise than just grabbing a book and going at it because you actually get feedback and it tells you when your playing badly and what you need to do to fix that last note I love this game.

Insanely addicting
This "game" is extremely well put together. The dynamic leveling logic is like having a teacher with you. Having a background in music and some guitar playing years ago, picking up the axe included with the bundle felt comfortable. I will say for those without any musical knowledge will be missing out as you learn to play the guitar, but you can still master the songs and guitar techniques such as slides, hammer-ons, chords, etc. My son has never touched a real guitar and is already hooked. It is challenging, much more so than the plastic guitar games. It isn't something you will sit down and "beat" in a couple of days. This will last you months, if not years. And yes, they will be adding a bass guitar option via DLC at a later date. There is an article on the net discussing it, so I won't go into the reasons why they didn't include it out of the box.

So excited...
I'm really excited to see a game like this. I've actually played with the idea of a game that actually teaches you to play guitar. I've frequently found myself thinking "I bet I could be really good at guitar if I would practice as much as I play Guitar Hero". Now I get to find out whether or not that is true. Although the game is geared towards beginner players, I've seen some songs that could prove to be challenging to master on the unofficial track list. I just hope that track list is accurate. I must admit a lot of the songs on here aren't songs I've heard of and I don't even like about 5 or 6 of the songs, but there is nothing better than learning to play those 3 or 4 songs I LOVE and being scored on them. I think it's awesome that this game is actually encouraging a lot of my friends to want to play too. Both of my roommates are having me teach them the basics so when Rocksmith comes out they can play with me. This game is a great idea and I really hope it does well because I'm looking forward to sequels and all kinds of DLC for a long long time.
