Rated 2 out of 10 by remzak Corrupted data, waste of time
I've been looking forward to this game for months. It was frustrating trying to figure out how to drift as there was no tutorial or any helpful info whatsoever, and it doesn't drive like any other title in the Ridge Racer franchise. But for the most part I liked it, and was 82% through the campaign and maximum racer level with 133 domination points.
Then I found out that the multiplayer is completely screwed. Players are disconnected and dropped constantly, and even when they are listed as "in match" they are usually not visible, like they aren't even there. The loading screens hang before and after matches. And to top it off, it hung on my saving screen after a match, causing my entire save file to be corrupted. All my solo campaign progress and domination points GONE!!! Tried contacting the company about the problems before the save corruption occurred, they were less than helpful- "Update the game, it happens automatically when you start the game." Duh, like I hadn't done that, especially since I have to restart the console multiple times per play session because of the loading hangs. Play this game and multiplayer at your own risk.
Rated 9 out of 10 Great Arcade Racing
I've played the entire Ridge Racer series and always enjoyed them. This game has a completely different feel. Drifting is still a key feature, but now crashing other racers, destroying objects, smashing through walls and buildings along with hugh jumps are all just as important. This game has more in common with Split Second than any previous Ridge Racer. There are many people creating great tracks that can be accessed easily through the world cities menu giving the game an endless amount of tracks and challenges. Yes it's not the Ridge Racer you or I remember, but It is an excellent example or pure arcade racing fun.
Rated 10 out of 10 by BigPepe I LOVE the Ridge Racer series
Honestly, I think that Ridge Racer is a blast starting from the first push of the gas pedal...from drifting the hard corners and hitting the nitrous to cutting off your rivals and flooring it!! The first Ridge Racer was a big hit in my book and I own Ridge Racer 6 which kicks butt! I hope that this is just as good!

This game is borderline. I've seen game play videos of it and, looks pretty fun. Though, I think it may end up being along the lines of Split/Second. I don't think I will be pre-ordering this game but, might pick it up when the price drops, I'm sure that'll happen relatively quick.
Rated 0 out of 10 by NTmare Not Your Average Ridge Racer Game
This game is not being developed by Namco Bandai as Gamestop would suggest. This game is being developed by Bugbear entertainment who created the FlatOut series of racing games. I think a total revamp of the series is long overdue.

Ridge racer wasn't great, so I am NOT going to pay a bunch of money for this. I'll stick with Blur, thank you.

I don't know if we are ready for a destruction derby type of RR game but I will pick this one up because of the name only.
