Power Gig: Rise of the SixString Guitar Kit
DO NOT BUY THIS GO GET ROCK BAND!
wow i am so disapointed this game was just all around terible i thought it would be cool to play with strings but there are so many problems like one the notes scroll seriosuly vertical by the time you see the notes its like what the? also the greet fret is the second fret? okay thats awkard also some notes will have numbers onit like 5 6 4 but how am i supposed to play that if the 5th fret is blue or orange it makes no sense there isnt ANY way to fail its just abunch of notes coming at you with TERIBLE controls like half the time the controller doesnt even respond to your touch you have to squeeze the life out of the neck to get the note to light up also the guitar is self sounds awful i playied with out the game and i been palying guitar for 13 years this guitar sounds terible i tried tuning it the string broke so i guess its supposed to say in a flat tuning please dont buy this... wait for rock band 3 to come out with their pro instruments you ALOT better off
May not be rockband but still good
Okay just to let people know before I get my head bitten off. I plan to buy Rockband 3 because of the DLC, the songs and the learning experience with the pro guitar. That being said this guitar will be better for those stepping to the real guitar. The rockband pro guitar (madcat not fender that has no release date yet) feels funny and not like a real guitar at all. Yes it is smaller but it works. The songs I would say are a hit or miss big names with smaller less known titles. The game still has good songs, I would get this only because for $20 more you get a game and guitar compared to just a guitar. The game is great for the guitar but would not use this to learn how to play more like once you know some of it. I played this game at PAX 2010, if you are going to get one music game sorry folks this isn't it, but if you want to get a pro guitar I'd say yes pick this up.
Good or Great?!
First of all this game looks pretty good i saw it in a e3 email and it looked good, but now that i think of it, this might just be another cheapo game like the jam session series. Jam Sessions goal was to teach you how to play the guitar and this is flipping the same coin. This game could be a great succes and kick guitar hero and rockband to the curb, or it could stink horribly and go down in a flop like jam session and battle of the bands, and popstar guitar. Anyway, this game would be great, it teaches you how to play and lets you play like a regular color patting music game. The game is near the price of two huns but it has the guitar which those things can cost some $$$, so really your just paying for the guitar and getting a brand new game free. But does the guitar come with the amp? I would buy this but buy with the asumtion that its another poser like the generic jam session games. Guitar hero is always number 1.
Do your research
Power gig falls short in a number of ways: 1: it is not a full replica guitar, only a 2/3 scale. If you're a little kid then this will suit you well. 2: the setlist leaves much to be desired - there are some big names, but they are not typically hits from these artists. Ozzy's "AHV"? What about Crazy Train? Oh yeah, Rock Band 3 has that one. 3: The drums are a joke -- you're basically playing air drums, this just looks clumsy/awkward. 4: They use colors to identify what fret to use (I counted 11 frets, meaning lots of colors to try and distinguish). This is another awkward twist -- RB3 will be using a scheme more like tablature. Do some research before going out and grabbing this one.
This game is horrible.
I wasted $200 on this game, I'm going to return it tomorrow, this is THE biggest piece of trash I have ever seen in my life. Don't waste your money, please. This game had good intentions, but fails miserably.
Worst Music game out there
I was told at the store it was like playing with a real guitar so i decided to get the game. i get home think cool its a little guitar plug it in and find out that even in my amp the guitar itself was horrible Cannot hold a tune at all and bad bad sound. then pop the game in and see you are still using the same 5 button style as before. Nothing like real guitar!! Do not get it the music isn't worth it at all on here either. Get Rock band 3 or guitar hero Even DJ hero and i hated that game. Don't want anyone else to have to go through the bad experience Save your money STAY FAR FAR AWAY
it was fun
I thought the game was fun and the game is more for kids and it even says not to plug the guitar into an amp unlike what the first guy did but it is only ment to be played on the tv and yes it is still like a rock band guitar but i have been playing the guitar for 27 years now and i found this game fun sill.
no way, rock band 3 is going to be way better
Awesome for real giutar players
Im so excited about this, as a real guitarist, guitar hero or rock band on expert was so dull and easy, this actualy looks like it could be a chalenge. Like I said cant wait.
Spend the money on a real Guitar
In todays internet age you can teach yourself to play guitar. I taught myself in about three months and now i can play just about any song from rockband or guitar hero. Why waste your money on a GAME thats supposed to teach you, but will prob make you pick up bad habits. Go out and buy a $200 guitar and ROCK FOR REAL!
