OVERLORD IS A GOOD GAME ONLY IF YOU WANT TO RULE ALL AND IF YOU LIKE HAVEING YOUR OWN GELMIN LIKE ARMY AND AND KILLING PEASENTS I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS GAME I KNOW YOU WILL LIKE IT.
Minions, Minions, The World is Mine!!!
The game is perfect for people looking for something simple, and fun to pass the time. The controls are simple, gameplay is simple, and the concept is simple. There are many things great about this game and many things bad about it as well. The story is not engaging, but does have fun quests at times. The minions follow your orders, there are some stragglers that refuse to listen. There are moments when your put in situations that you CAN'T win but after a few tries manage to beat an enemy. The humor is awesome. I loved the game and even though people say the story is short, I have taken my time and still have yet to beat the game. I would recommend this to anyone. Although once you beat it I could not see ANY reason to play it again. So the replay is very low.
LOTR Times 100
I have played the demo for this game and even though it is only a little taste of its overall potential, it was so awesome. The idea of controlling minions may not sound that great at first, but that is definently wrong. Even if somehow you don't like using your minions to defeat your enemies, you can just do it yourself. There are some tasks that you have to let your minions do, but its very fun to watch them accomplish there task, wether it's moving a pillar or taking out your enemies. You also have spells, one of which you get in the demo. I'm assuming that you will probably get new weapons later or be able to change them whenever you want, but either way it's just awesome. The whole thing reminds me of LOTR, but with a different storyline and characters and other things i'm sure, but it is definently more fun then any LOTR game i've ever played. If this was a review, i would give it 11 out of 10, because it's just soooooooo fun.
Not what I expected
I bought this game a few weeks ago and it wasn't what I expected it to be. I like playing a lot of RPG's and shooters but this game was not my type. The game had good advertisement and I thought the concept they grasped onto was a brilliant idea with controlling hordes of minions and taking over land. But there wasn't much interactivity. I mean, you destroy a lot of stuff and you kill a lot of creatures and people and you loot almost everything possible but it became real repetitive quickly and I was soon bored out of my mind. The story was a good story and the voice of the characters were great especially with the Master Minion guy who is the wisest among those vile creatures who give you instructions. But overall, it was a rated T game and I am not saying T games are bad but it was your typical T rated game which meant (this really is a T game lingering around the more younger crowd). If this game wasn't as repetitive to start off with and gave the players more interactivity instead of pressing a few buttons then I would have definitely gave this game a higher rating.
Definitely worth **$
This a very fun game. It is a mixture of Fable and Pikmin. The only shortcoming is that it is easy and short. The only thing hard is to upgrade your armor all the way which I cheated to do (there is a glitch). Otherwise you would have to play hours on end to get enough minions to "sacrifice" to upgrade the armor. Once you get the armor you are practically invincible though. There are also mistresses in the game which you participate in unnamed events with. I also love how your minions can pick up little weapons and they raise it in the air as if they had found gold, which they also may find and bring to you because after all, you are their overlord. Your actions can make people cheer for you or cower in fear of you. You decide. Great game.
a fun game for gamers trying new games
this game is a great adventure game. it has a ok story line but has great action. a fun game for any gamer.
Dungeon Keeper anyone?
Played the demo... Total rehash, different console and nothing more. Among other games already listed, the one(s) that stand out the most in my mind is Dungeon Keeper 1 and 2 by Bullfrog for the PC. Fun concept, nothing wrong with it and looks like a bit of fun -- but when you move the same concept that you've played for years from one platform to another and pretty much leave just about everything the same except change the main character's hat from brown to blue, it gets a bit played out. Original and innovative? Hardly. Fun/humorous and updated graphics? Likely. DK, Fable, Pikman, then Overlord, just as EQ, DAOC/Asheron's Call, WoW, EQ2, then LoTRO... everyone appears to need someone else's original successful concept from which to base their knockoff and it's almost never as good as the original. Here's to hoping the full version of Overlord does DK proud.
Should be titled Goblin Commander 2 - Overlord
It's quite obvious that the developers here "borrowed" quite heavily from the game Goblin Commander, from the look, the multiple "minion" clans, destroy & kill everything for lives and money, etc. The influence is there, I even rolled the credits to see if any team member from the original were there. ( I worked there and knew alot of the guys ) That said, the game takes what was good with GC and improves it making it more fun to play. The addition of dark humor livens it up and gives the game personality. Graphically its nice and very well animated, especially the "looks" the minions give you when they present coin or souls to you. If you're looking for an alternative to the million FPS or Gears wanna-be's that bloat the 360, I would say give it a try you could surprised. With all the press going to the high profile stuff.....its my pick for a sleeper hit
After playing the free downloadable demo from xbox live, I'm even more excited than the hype thus far. Althoe the camera angle is not like the current standard gamers have become accustomed too, by holding the left bumper it allows you to spin the camera as you see fit (The other analog controls the pack of wild minions behind you!). Graphically its the same dark/fantasy element similar to Fable, or Dungeon Keeper, or the original xbox title Goblin Commander. It gives you a sense of power and control, ravaging and pillaging the 'heroes' and wrecking and uglyfying the fairytale type land that has sprung up in your absense. Also the added element of upgrading and restoring your former 'Dark Tower,' makes it greatly exciting and compelling for achievement junkies and hardcore fantasy fans alike. Being evil has never been so much fun!
Im not sure
I didn't finish the game. I took it back cuz I got it used and bought another cheap game instead. But because it's so cheap it wouldn't hurt to buy it. The game is alright, not super fun unless you beat the game probably. It's kinda fun sending your minions out to own everybody, but it gets old at some point. Sometimes I get lost in what I'm doing. Sometimes the game got frustrating. Overall the graphics are alright. Storylines okay. You awake and you're overlord of these gremlin-like creatures. You have to find parts for the castle you live in. It's pretty much the same exact thing as pikmin but more fun cuz you can destroy things, and it's just more fun. At some point you have to find a mistress. Nothing really that super great about this game. You can sacrifice your minions to make your armor and weapons better.
