OKAYYYYYYY?
I think the goalies need to improve PRONTO, for example the cross-crease is terrible. they need to add a college experience to nhl 12. and before a be a pro they should add a shoot around before the game like have a couple of pucks and do warm-ups

Better than 13
This game is amazing. It is a lot more realistic than 13. I played the demo for 7 hour is it was so good. I am planning on getting as soon as 13 releases.

Great Game, Totally worth it
I've had this game since Christmas, and I have not gotten tired of it at all. At every corner there is a surprise, or something that adds to the competitiveness of the game. The graphics are incredible, the game play is great, and all the game modes are good. The only thing is that A.I. system isn't that smart, so that might make you mad. The trading system doesn't isn't always good, as in you'll get low balled and have to overpay for players like Sean Avery (and it especially gets annoying when he's 38 and you need a player like him but he insists on 3 million over one year). Anyway, that is really the only problem I've had with the game, and you will not be let down!

good but just like every other one
This is a really fun game especially if you like hockey but its kind of like all of the other ones which is the problem hopefully one of the upcoming NHL's will bring something new to it like first person gameplay or something like that

Same stuff different name!
I think EA Sports needs to consult some real NHL hockey players on how to program players on the AI and gameplay engine. Plus the only difference between this edition in the franchise from past ones is a little better graphics. If you like playing 1 guy on 5 guys this is your game. Your players controlled by the computer just flat out suck. Your controlled player is easy to get a shot off but you might make 1 out of 1000 shots if your playing above the Rookie level. Reasoning is that the AI has great control of the opposing team but it doesn't put your guys anywhere near where they need to be. Most of the time you'll be left forcing your will on a fantastic goalie wondering where the heck your guys are to pass to! Unless you play this at begginer levels than it's just way to easy! This is a very fun game to play Multiplayer on. I wouldn't buy this game for 360. I would buy this game for WII because it is a ton of fun on WII. I hope EA develops the same engine that Madden is going to with better physics and actually consults real players as to where the AI engine needs to put your players at. Because it is obvious nobody at EA sports has ever played hockey and if they did, they never won a game at it. Because on offensive rushes you'll think your guys you don't control had been drinking!

Good Game
Let me start off with, why does everyone always have to find something to complain about in these games, if its not the graphics its the sound if its not the sound its the controls. People need to realize complaining will get you no where in life. But anyways, I think this game was worth it. I find it very fun. Online is great, its challenging but fun. Franchise is awesome and I love be a legend mode, all in all I think this game is great.

Hockey diehards, beware!
There is a lot to like about the NHL series, which is why it has some loyal fans who come back to it year after year. But this year was a big step back, and it's pretty evident from the get-go if you're a hockey purist. The physics engine, which was supposed to deliver more realistic hits, is awful. Nathan Gerbe puts the fear into Zdeno Chara because anyone can hit anyone and put them on their butt. That's not realistic. Some smaller guys pack a wallop in their hits, but in this game, it's assumed that everyone can lower the boom at Scott Stevens-like levels. And the goalie interference penalties are beyond stupid. If you run the goalie, there is a 20% chance you get called for a penalty, unless the puck ends up in the net, at which point it's automatic. That is the exact OPPOSITE of real life! If the puck goes in, it's incidental contact; no penalty, no goal. If the puck doesn't go in, it's a penalty. I would expect the boys from Vancouver to know that. Fighting is still a mindless exercise. You telling me they couldn't add some strategy to the fights, like which hand you want to grab with, or throwing some rabbit punches with your engaged arm? Or not engaging at all and going rock-em-sock-em robots? Don't even get me started on the trading logic. Give me 20 minutes with the worst team in the league and I can make some trades so that my defense includes the likes of Doughty, Pietrangelo, Weber, and Suter, while stocking the farm system with great prospects which are worthless in trades, without giving up much in return. The Be a Superstar mode got some much needed upgrades, like playing a year or 2 in juniors before getting drafted, but it's impossible to get better. You get about 35 XP in each category per game, and that's if you had the game of your career, but the things to buy cost at least 300 XP. So you have to have a hat trick for about 12 straight games just to get your speed from a 70 to a 72. I'd like the option of starting overseas as well, since I'd love to start in Skelleftea AIK playing in front of Joacim Eriksson. Also included this year is the ability to play the full 60 minutes in real time, simming when you're not on the ice. But as a minute-eating defenseman, this is just about impossible, because 1 game would take about 40 minutes to complete, compared to the 20 minute games of previous editions. Finally, I come to the ratings system. I hate how the best players in the league are 90 or better, but some of the worst in the league are only 80. Let's look at the Predators. Weber and Suter are rated 87, Erat is rated 83, Stortini is an 80, and Bouillon is a 79. Weber and Suter are elite, top 10 defensemen in the league, and they are only 8 better than a bottom pairing turnover machine like Francis Bouillon? Erat is the most underrated player in the league, a true top line scorer, while the worthless goon Stortini is an embarrassment to fighting with his huggy bear style, but they are only 3 apart? Go over and look at a game like Fifa, where they give mediocre players mediocre ratings. Starters in the best leagues can have ratings in the 60s, because that's what they should be rated, not an 80 just so the game doesn't hurt anyone's feelings. Real hockey fans knew all of this already and should stay away from this edition, but the casual fans who just want to play a game with their friends will enjoy it.
